Tonight wasn’t just any Wednesday night, it was a very special night. Tonight Phoenix hosted a poker game, and while he did these most nights, tonight was different because it was all wizards playing. Much harder to roll, but the pair had pulled out all the stops for this.
In order to keep the space small, and be sure they didn’t have to share a cut with too many, Penny handled the door and the bar, while Phoenix handled the game and the players. So far, it had been a fantastic night all around, and now the night was starting to wind down. There were only three or four players left at the table, and the other players were moving about the room. Some were buying back in, others getting drinks, and the rare few were leaving for the night.
There was one thing odd about this game however, Penny usually brought the drinks directly to the players on a tray. Instead, all night long she had been using her wand to send them over. Why was she avoiding the table? One reason, Wes fucking Carlisle was sitting at the table. Thankfully, there hadn’t been time when he had arrived for more than a glance between the pair. Now, however, Penny knew the jig was up. Phoenix had been giving her looks, likely wondering what screws were loose, and she knew she needed to get out there if she wanted their plan to go off without a problem. They were supposed to be getting their hands on a crystal ball that had once belonged to Trelawney around the same time she made the prophecy about Harry and Voldermort. She wasn’t going to fuck this up over Wes fucking Carlisle.
Instead she made her way over to him, while doing her best to look as though she was just circulating the room to check on all the different wizards. She knew the dress she was wearing didn’t exactly help her case from the last time they got together. She wouldn’t let it keep her from holding her head high as she came up to him. “Mr. Carlisle,” she said, while stepping up to him. “Are you enjoying our game?” she asked then, not asking him if he’d like another drink. She wanted him to know she was a partner and not just the bimbo bartender. It was silly, but she was still so ticked that he had gone home with that… That girl.
