RP: a brunch too long in the making
Who: Eliza & Roxanne
What: The girls somehow finally make time to get together and catch up over bottomless mimosas.
When: 05/28/28; noon-ish
Where: a muggle cafe in London
Warnings: Perhaps adult discussion.
Completion Status: complete.

Eliza and Roxanne had finally both found a Saturday that they were free to get together and catch up. The two had grown up close thanks to their mothers, and only been a year apart in school, but it had gotten harder to see each other in person as they'd both gone into the world and made lives for themselves. Eliza was probably more to blame than Roxy, and she did feel bad about that, but she was finally putting in the effort. She'd even kept her cocktails to a minimum at Sanguine last night, so as not to be too hungover for her brunch out.

She made it just at noon, her hair still wet without time to dry it properly with a charm before rushing out of the house, but she was proud of herself for being on time even if it was a close one, and saw Roxy at a table on the outdoor patio, a pitcher of mimosas already settled on the two-top. She waved and wound her way through the tables and chairs and gave Roxanne a half hug while still standing before crashing into her seat. "I'm not late," she said with a bit too much force - mostly trying to convince herself - and then laughed at herself. "How are you, babe?" she asked, reaching for her empty glass and the pitcher, nodding her head with a wry smile at her friend in thanks for having already ordered it.

"No luck from the dating app? I've heard a lot of success stories..." Eliza sympathized with a sigh. "I mean, you're always welcome to come out with me and Etta - the clubs we go to don't discriminate and it's not like they're 'straight' clubs or anything. I've met lots of lovely, willing queer women in my time..." Eliza was straight as they come, but there was nothing wrong with making out with a hot woman on the dance floor to drive the men wild. Always sucked having to the clarify later that she wasn't exactly interested - just not my type, sorry - but she rarely let such things bother her if it meant she got a great hot man on her arm and a hot lay later in the night.

"When does this free start? We'll have to celebrate." She said it so matter-of-factly, as if there was no question. And really, there wasn't.

"That's what I had heard!" She slammed the rest of her mimosa. "I thought dating apps were supposed to be easier than this." She huffed as she poured herself another drink.

She'd thought that maybe she would have to trying more traditional approach. "Clubbing could work." She mused. "At least it's a most active role in all of this."

"First of the month." She smirked. "You don't mind showing me around the scene?" Eliza had always been more for a party than Roxanne ever was.

"I mean, it's a numbers game. Have you messaged a total ton of ladies? Are you being picky? Online dating isn't like the real world - it's an algorithm, babe." Eliza said sympathetically. She reach out and patted Roxy's hand that had just set down the empty flute. She held up her own cup to be topped off as Roxy finished pouring her own.

"I don't mind at all, though there's not much to show around. I might have to lend you an outfit." Eliza didn't care much for fashion - she was very much a jeans and t-shirt girl - but she knew clubs had dress codes and she loved showing off her body, so she knew how to do club attire thing down to a tee. She somehow doubted Roxy even owned a clubbing dress. Her thinking that wasn't a lesbian thing, it was just a Roxy thing.

"I'm not sure what I'm looking for, I guess." Roxanne didn't like admitting it. It made her feel hapless, incapable of doing it on her own. "Still trying to figure out what I like." Eliza would understand that. She was more keen on these topics.

"Oh, yeah. I don't think I have much." She felt more over her head than a few months ago. "There might have to be a shopping day soon." Her clothes were functional, not quite for the club scene.

"That's why you date! To figure it out! Goodness knows I have no clue, which is why I try as many different options as I can," Eliza said with a waggle of her eyebrows. "What if we take a look at your dating profile? I don't have one, but even I can admit I tend to know what people... want." She put emphasis on the last word. She meant sexually, and she was pretty sure Roxy understood as much.

"We can definitely shop, but you can always borrow anything of mine, you know that. I may be taller, but that's only a good thing, my minis will be extra mini on you!"

"It couldn't hurt." Roxy fished her phone out of her bag and opened it up to the dating app. The pictures are awful, that I already know." She never had anyone look over it before she had sent it live, but who would have? Fred? He was just as confused how to do this as she was.

"Ooo, you're right!" She was excited at the prospect of clubbing with her friend and hopefully with a little help she understand the whole dating scene a bit better.

"Uh, yeah. Babe. You are way hotter than this." She handed her phone back, "We'll work on that, we need to get better pictures of you first though. I'm sure we do that with no problem." Eliza's voice was a little flat. How on earth could Roxy be wondering why she wasn't getting any matches with a dating profile like that?

"So, next weekend? Yes? I'll be at Carnival Friday night and Sanguine Saturday night, most likely. I happen to have my eyes on a regular there..." She didn't elaborate, but definitely wanted to dish details on her spicy meet ups with Milo Wood.

Roxanne took her phone and shuffled back and forth between the two pictures she had on the account. "Okay, I guess you're right."

She looked down and away with a contorted smirk. She hadn't quite thought that the pictures were the problem. She'd spent time looking at the words underneath and trying different iterations to make it more appealing. "I'll take any help you can give me." She'd owe Eliza something big after this. It make her feel like a burden on Eliza's own social calendar.

"And yes to next weekend." She heard Eliza mention a 'regular' but trailed off. Roxy didn't push, seeing their server returning with their food and another pitcher of mimosas.
