Day 7: On the road to the gas station
Who: Lexie Grey and Dean Winchester
What: Currently travelling from the Barn to the Gas Station
When: Day 7, Mid-Morning
Rating: PG-13 / R (Sexual situation)
Status: Complete

As much as Lexie really probably wanted to stay in the barn where it was warm and relatively safe after reading the journal's notes about the snow and the cold and the need to bunker down, she thought she had no other choice than to take a trip from her humble abode to the store for some supplies. In Boston people had loaded up on milk, toilet paper, and rock salt. Lexie had decided she'd be getting her hands on toilet paper, bottled water, and whatever food she could find. For better or for worse, Lexie had been only taking what she needed from the gas station up until now - suddenly the threat of inclement weather and a beastly trek made her reconsider how minimalist she could actually be.

Shoving her lighter in her pocket, Lexie left the rest of her things tucked carefully beneath the floorboards in the barn. She had seen that someone else had been through the barn the other day, and she wasn't so certain that she wanted them going through her humble possessions - even if all she had from the real world were some scrubs and an ID badge.

Pulling her sweatshirt tight about herself, she wondered why she hadn't gone looking for a hat and mittens days ago. Unfortunately, she'd let the cold and snow creep up on her and was left for a nice long walk with a sweatshirt, a heavy pair of construction boots, and jeans that felt they were meant more for summer wear than winter protection. Trudging down the path she squinted, the snow whipping into her eyes. She'd have quite a journey back if she took too long and the world got dark.

How far was it until the thrift shop? Suddenly she was wishing someone had annotated the map with those sort of notations - it would be useful if someone found themselves otherwise until to see the landmarks. She was really close to the pharmacy, looking about for anyone else. Though, at the moment from the best she could tell, everyone was holed up nice and snug in their respective shelters.

Way to be a poor planner, Lexie.

Dean pushed out of the dense forest onto what should have been the road, shaking snow from his pants and pulling the coat tighter around himself. Walking between the trees there had been little wind but it seemed to periodically whip around him now that he was out in the open like it was trying to steal the breath out of him. Rubbing his hands together to get some warmth between them he cussed and blew a breath into them and rubbed some more. This snow was insane. This place was insane. Over night his food stash had been stolen, most likely by wild animals or even a Weevil - he shuddered to think about that - so it was either starve or go into town and find a can opener for the cans in the pantry and other provisions.

He had gotten a little turned around in the forest as he tried to find the road. He could see that as he realized her was nowhere near the gas station. That was great. He hoped he could find his way back to the house without having to walk the wall again to find it. Cussing again, Dean looked around to get his bearings. Oh the liquor store! Well at least this trip wasn't going to be a total waste. He could stock up on some of the good stuff, set the beer in a snow bank because warm skunky beer is half-way decent beer when it's cold. Does the trick. It occurred to him just how much of an alcoholic he was and he laughed out loud, a puff of hot air escaping into the wind.

Feeling like an idiot for laughing when he was by himself, he looked around a bit self-consciously to make sure he wasn't seen. There was, of course, someone nearby though. Just his luck - it was a girl. What was she doing out here in the snow with only a sweatshirt, he wondered. He didn't want to care, he wanted to continue with his one-man show, but it was too late to pretend he hadn't seen her or that she hadn't heard him. So instead of being rude, he smiled and picked up his pace to a trot toward her.

"Hey, are you lost?" he asked because that was the first thing that came into his head. Maybe this was the girl River he'd read about in the journals. The one who had been to the wall and given everyone a scare. "Are you okay?"

Lexie was slow moving. She knew with each step she was moving slower. It was an early onset sympton of hypothermia. She would be OK, the pharmacy's outline was in sight - so no big deal, right?

It was then she was convinced she'd heard something. She'd heard laughter. It sounded far away, and hunkered down in her hoodie, Lexie was pretty sure her mind had made it up. She was cold and hungry - that's pretty tough stress for an already tired brain - so, auditory hallucinations weren't all that unexpected. She just needed to get inside, get some better clothes, and some food and she'd be OK.

Then Lexie thought she heard steps crushing the snow as they came closer. Jumping out of her skin her head snapped up, looking around for the source. Out of nowhere it seemed came some dude. Maybe everyone else wasn't all holed up, huh?

"Lost?" She asked perplexedly. "Oh, no, I'm trying to get to the pharmacy, Lexie was unconsciously yelling, the wind howling in her ears. "I'm just cold - hoping to pick up a winter coat once I make it to the thrift shop," she smiled reassuringly. "Somehow I didn't think to stock up on food or anything in the barn - not my finest survival moment," as it came out of her mouth, Lexie realized this wasn't her finest survival moment, either.

"Barn?" he asked, mentally scrolling through what he knew about people here so far. It suddenly dawned on him that he knew exactly who she was but they had never met outside the journals. He'd already been worried about her being in the barn by herself before the snow. He could have kicked himself for not having done anything about it before now. Now with her wandering around half-frozen in the snow by herself.

"What are you doing out here by yourself, Doc? I would have brought you whatever you needed. All you had to do was ask in the journals and I would've come running."

She was yelling to be heard above the wind and her voice sounded thin, reedy to his ears. The wind sucked away his breath as he looked her over more carefully. He couldn't help but feel almost alarmed. "Shit, Lexie," he grumbled and slung his pack down so he could pull his coat off and wrap it around her shoulders. "Let's get you inside, okay? Maybe a shot of whiskey or something to warm you up too."

He shivered as he spoke, his voice tremulous now that he was in the elements with only a light sweatshirt in such a bright pink that he was almost more embarassed to be seen wearing it than he was cold. Damn that thrift store for not carrying anything normal...

"Yeah, you know the one with all the couch--" She wa about to continue explaining herself when the man called her Doc. Clearly not Andy, or any of the other guys she'd actually met - it only left the guys she'd conversed with over the Journals. All told, counting the response to the poker thread, she could think of three people mystery man could be.

"Come running?" She blinked a couple of times - she didn't think anybody would actually come running all the way out to the barn, especially not in this weather. Oh yeah, had to be Dean - who else would be all Mr. Rescue on her?

Her hands balled up inside the sleeves of her sweatshirt it was tempting to tell him to take back his jacket - that he needed it - that was until she felt the fading warmth around her and suddenly all bets were off - this was a game of self preservation.

"Come on," she said a bit too loudly as the wind picked just that moment to hold off on it's next gust, "Not too far now," looping her arm in his she tugged in the direction of the pharmacy - it wasn't the most forceful gesture; but, she was pretty sure he got the point.

Dean watched her stuffing her shoulders with newspaper and fought with a highly amused smile on his mouth. "You look crazy, Doc. The Michelin Man has nothing on you!"

He seriously doubted that she was fine because he had seen how bad off she'd been a few minutes ago. You didn't come back from that state without a little lasting something, did you? He had no idea and that made him like the situation even less than he already did. Well and if he was honest he wasn't sure he was ready to trudge out in the snow again just yet. Padding or no padding. He kind of wanted to stand around with her for a few more minutes, warming up another fraction and maybe getting to know her even if she did seem to be completely business right now.

"Me?" he asked and pointed to his chest with a pale, shaking finger. "You're worried about me?" He had to chuckle at that. No one had worried about him in a long time. Not even Cassie had worried because she hadn't known. And after she'd discarded him? Well he doubted she even looked back. She wasn't the type. "I'll be fine, Doc. I always come out on top. I'm Batman." He winked and tossed her a goofy grin.

Lexie felt more linebacker than Michelin Man and as such she did the typical strong-man pose flexing her shoulders beneath the paper as she hunched and flexed her arms. Yeah, a regular iron-woman she was. Laughing and shaking her head she took up a seat on the counter for a minute, trying to ignore the subtle crinkling noises she made with each movement.

Lexie, though showing minor improvement, was still quite under the effects of hypothermia. As blood flow to the brain becomes cut off (a survival instinct of the body to try and keep all of the heat at the core organs) the victim becomes increasingly stubborn and often either delirious or combative. In Lexie's case, it appeared she was getting more loopy than anything. It's difficult to make an already stubborn girl more stubborn, really.

"Of course I'm worried about you," she said with a softening of her features. Lexie inheirently worried about just about everyone. "Batman, huh?" her laughter was unable to be contained. She was shaking her head and trying to think of a reasonable response. She certainly wasn't Robin. And she definitely wasn't Batgirl, either. Wonder Woman? Nah, not really.

"Well, you might be Batman, but you're still shivering pretty good there, Dark Knight." She pushed off the counter and back to a slightly wobbily standing pose, bracing herself against the structure behind her. "Guess I did that just a touch too quickly," her smile dimmed a little as she worked defiantly to try and make the world stop spinning.

Not knowing Lexie other than the brief exchanges in the journals and what he'd seen so far, he couldn't tell if there was a whole lot different with her than usual right now. She did seem to be a little overzealous but maybe that was a doctor thing. She was pretty energetic too if she walked to work everyday and then home again after being on her feet for hours. Still he was watching for any kind of sign that something wasn't right. Damn! He was getting all mother hen. Sam would be so proud. She was a big girl. She could tell if she needed help, right?

"No need to worry about me. I'm made of old-fashioned Winchester stock. Takes a bulldozer to get us down and even then we pop right back up!"

His grin dissolved into laughter when she began laughing at his Batman quip. Had he really just suggested he was a superhero? Maybe his mind was a little off kilter too. But it felt good to laugh and he felt warmer just letting go of some of the worry and distracting his thoughts to something else again. He eyed her amusedly and said, in between chuckles, "You sure you didn't start with the liquor store before you went wandering out in the snow, Lady Freeze? You're looking kinda drunk back there."

It occurred to him that he wanted to worry about her again but she seemed to have everything under control. Didn't she? He did move closer to her, his muscles protesting at the requirement of movement when they were still pretty cold. With one hand he touched her forearm. "Whoa, take it easy, Doc. I'm good with a first aid kit but don't make me prove it."

It was true, when it came down to it Lexie didn't know Dean beyond what he said in the journals. This was a lot like meeting somebody off of the internet, something she had promised herself she'd never resort to. You never knew what you were going to get off craigslist; but, Lexie had a feeling that three out of five times it was a stalker.

"What are you a weeble wobble?" She shook her head, realizing just how nice it was to actually laugh. She wasn't thinking about how to get home; or checking on Andy's stitches; or setting up the clinic just in case. No, she was just kicking back in a run down building laughing at nothing at all.

"Oh, I'm just a little dizzy is all," she said, planting her hands more firmly on the counter top in an effort to make the world stop. Really stop this time.

Lexie's eyes slipped closed a moment or two and she felt like she'd just had a few too many beers at happy hour. It's the blood rushing back to my head she thought. While not entirely comforting, at least she thought she knew what was wrong.

"Yes. That's you. Simply irresistible," he sang through a laugh. "You're especially sexy when you crinkle like a hobo." He gave her another little squeeze to prove his point as the newspaper rustled inside her clothes.

"Snowmen?" He leaned his head back slightly without pulling too far away from their warm huddle to give her an incredulous look. "What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?" he asked and then laughed again. "Snowgirls? Yes. Snowdoctors? Of course. Especially if they half rip my clothes off to get inside them with me."

Oh the full on flirt had been unleashed now. He was almost on auto-pilot at this point. It felt good because there didn't seem to be any reason to worry about whether or not someone else might be offended by it. It was just some playful banter between an admittedly very good looking guy and a very adorable and not entirely unwilling girl. Right? Just some fun while they waited for her to warm up enough to get where she wanted to go.

Probably a good thing he was still pretty damned cold otherwise this might begin to be a problem with all the body to body... Okay maybe it wasn't cold enough anymore. Um... baseball, dead demons, fireflies and dandelions, someone's grandma, uhhh pie.... he thought.

"Easy with the crinkles," she playfully jabbed at his side.

"Doctor Snow-Hobo-women fetish, that's a new one. I bet you can't even find internet porn for that one," the logistics were actually mindblowing. His laughter proved her undoing however as her own quickly followed suit. It was like being back home with her friend; well, friend. George had been her only real friend at Seattle Grace. He didn't call her Little Grey or Lexipedia, or give her dirty looks for being Meredith Grey's sister.

"I guess I should have went for the whole shabang then," she said, referring to his only half removed clothing. "I mean, since you go for cold, hobo-like doctors."

If Lexie had been able to, she would have cast herself as more oblivious as let the whole interaction between them be nothing more than flirty, witty banter. Instead, she was sort of caught off guard - platonic hug turning in to flirty hug. Well, there's no reason friends can't flirt, right? If Lexie were a hair warmer she might actually be blushing.

"Hey now!" he laughed as she jabbed him and squirmed. "That tickles." Then he set his cheek against the top of her head again.

"Doctor Snow-Hobo-women." He stopped and thought about that one for a second and then laughed again. They were all but slap-happy at the moment and he was enjoying himself thoroughly. It was a hell of a lot better wandering around by himself and moping that was for damn sure. "Nope, can't say I've ever had that fetish satisfied. Until now. You should really have gone all the way, Sno-bo Doc."

He sputtered slightly then as her hair got into his mouth while was laughing yet again. Letting one arm move from her waist he lifted it to brush her hair back with his fingers. "No offense, but I don't find it too appetizing." He grinned down at her and let his fingers fall away from her hair.

"Feeling any warmer?" he asked and there was a sparkle in his eye of mischief. "I mean the whole half-ripping off my clothes has worked pretty well so far. I still say this is the part of the movie where we strip down to our underwear for the body heat."

Tickling hadn't been exactly what she was going for. However, knowing that he was ticklish sent Lexie into this moment of being eight again where there was nothing funnier than watching somebody laugh and squirm while being subjected to being tickled. God, a tickle war, that could be dangerous.

"Damn, I've squandered my chance," she mock pouted. The look of disappointment didn't last long as her companion started sputtering. She felt his arm depart her back to her momentary disappointment, not quite expecting the gesture that followed.

Playful as she was, let it never be said that Lexie Grey was good at being anything other then an open book. Perhaps that's why the blush came so suddenly now across the apples of her cheeks. She knew he probably hadn't meant to get that sort of reaction out of her and now it was her turn to sputter a bit.

"Warmer?" She was sort of laughing at herself, realizing that the burning across her cheeks was not just the warm feeling of circulation returning to her skin. Get back on your game, Lexie! she internally scolded, no need to let him catch her with her pants down, figuratively speaking of course.

"You're just working toward your fantasy of doctor snow hobo-women in their underwear. This is bordering on obsession, you know." A no doubt cold hand snaked up the back of his shirt only to find that it was like an inferno under there. "What are you made out of, molten lava?"

"You're right," he admitted, pretending to be sheepish about it. His eyes lit up when she made herself rustle. "Ohhhh yeah. That's the stuff," he said and shuddered playfully, his eyes rolling dramatically back in his head.

When she moved her hands up his back to grab his shoulders he realized that he wasn't recoiling from the iciness of her fingers. Because they weren't all that cold anymore. He slid his free hand back into her hair to brush it away from her face and then he put his palm to her cheek. With a nod he smiled.

"Oh yeah, you're warming up." He was glad for that. Except now what did he do with his hand? Without much thought he slid it back around her. But this hug, now that she was a lot warmer and more clear-headed than before, was fast becoming a strange, anticipation game. It was sort of like the whole problem of when you were supposed to take your socks off before sex.

Yeah, there was no denying it. The platonic aspect of this situation had disappeared completely in his mind. She'd thrown her head back as she laughed and he eyed her throat, biting his lower lip and trying to laugh through his preoccupation. He wondered what her skin smelled like on a normal day outside the glass bubble. And her hair. He wondered what the hollow of her throat, which she had just exposed, would feel like if he kissed it now.

He really was a lot warmer than he had a right to be himself now considering it was still pretty cold in the store around them. He was certainly a lot warmer than he'd been earlier. He licked his lips. Oh fuck. Stomach aches, wilting plants, smelly dumpsters, uhhh pig styes...

"I'm on to you, Spaceheater," her smile turning to a playful smirk as thie odd sort of game of theirs continued. It wasn't quite cat and mouse nor was it a competition; this game, it seemed, was based more on the concept of chicken. Except in this round, Lexie was finding herself wanting to be hit... er, kissed.

His hand, moving from her hair to her cheek was something she struggled not to pay too much attention to. she knew he was just checking to see if she was warming up; and she was, like he had no idea. The numbness had gone from her hands and she could feel the muscles of his shoulders and his skin and she realized how little clothing was between them. Sure, she was Linebacker Lexie - but that was just because of the ridiculous amount of paper shoved into her shoulders.

"Yeah?" Her voice was clear as she responded to his observation she was warming. His hand slipped away and Lexie was oh so thankful she'd managed not to quite melt into his touch. Her attention, however had shifted away from her latest round of laughter to the way he'd just licked his lips. It was like he was waving a giant red flag, putting out a giant button with a "don't push me" sign, and setting out a candy dish with one last piece simultaneously. She wanted to bite her own lip in response - a distinct flag that she, too was holding back.

Though, Lexie wasn't going to hold back. The silence was pregnant, their pose was sensual, and she figured what the hell. Lexie shifted, pushing herself up on tiptoe, and she went for it. She wanted to know what his lips felt like. If he was one of those all consuming sort of kissers or the sort that went for little short kisses. She wanted to run her lips around his jaw, his neck, his shoulders. For now, however, she'd settle for his lips.

"What?" Tilting his head toward her as though he hadn't quite heard her. "I'm sorry. Did you say you were coming on to me?" he asked and flashed her a rascally grin. "All this crinkling on purpose? Someone might think you were trying to get a rise out of me."

This was fast becoming more suggestive than he'd originally thought would happen between them. She'd seemed so focused and all business before. Now she was all laughter and reacting in the moment. Going along with the game they were playing. Extra points for being fun, Lexie, he thought. Although he would normally have not been okay with all this pretending everything around them wasn't chaotic, she had been cold and needing a lot of warmth. Right? It was all for a good cause. That train of thought made him snort a new laugh in the midst of hers.

He wasn't entirely aware that she'd seen him reacting to her. Ultimately he was envious of her freedom. Sure he laughed and joked but she seemed to not have a care in the world. It took quite a bit for him to let go like that. Which was part of why he was feeling this intense desire to kiss her. Bridge the gap and maybe get a little bit of her spirit in return. Very selfish, he knew it. But he wasn't going to apologize for it.

Especially not now. She'd stepped up on her toes and pressed her lips to his. To hell with convention. A girl after his own heart. He responded immediately, he'd been holding back long enough. He caught her close, pressing his fingers into the small of her back. His mouth was insistent, possessive almost as he kissed her back. He wasn't one for short kisses or shying away from this sort of invitation but he didn't want to push his luck if all she wanted was a kiss. So after a moment he pulled his lips slowly away from hers.

This was like a hot summer afternoon kissing the girl next door in the treehouse in the backyard. Or what he had imagined would have been something normal for a kid when he'd been younger. So in a way she was bringing to life a fantasy for him. Who would've thought it? And when she wiggled against him, Dean almost laughed out loud for the pure enjoyment of it. She was crinkling and his responding nibble on her lower lip was to say, Tempt me more, Sno-bo Doc.

He could feel her shaking in his arms and knew she was struggling just as hard as he was against the laughter. There was nothing like playing this game, he decided. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. Pun very much intended. He felt himself want to laugh against her mouth as he kissed her. His breath coming in short bursts of barely contained chuckles against her cheek.

There was no disguising the fact that he was interested in this going a lot farther now. Her nails tracing the edge of his spine were enough to make him want to give up the game and just pull her sweatshirt right up over her head. But this was too much fun to give up just yet. He was still on a mission to see just how much the good Doc could take before either calling her own bluff or full on taking matters into her own hand.

So he searched for more skin to touch. His palms opening against her back, thumbs trailing the sides of her stomach as he nipped so lightly at her lips with his teeth. He might be tickling her or arousing her. Either worked to his advantage because this wasn't just kissing anymore, this was a sport. Winner take all. And he was going to win.

Was Dean in the realm of fantasy? Only in the very real way that girls are taught that they might someday be rescued by a handsome man -- and then get to make out with them. This was actually something completely different than all that. With a rescuer you would anticipate adrenaline and passion and raw hot intensity. This was an odd off shoot of all that - this was playful, bordering juvenile and reminiscent of days when the world beyond first base was a mystery and you felt like you could kiss for hours.

She could feel his teeth against her lip and Lexie couldn't help but respond in kind, her tongue darting out to tease his lips, almost daring him to counter with his own.

It was hot under those sweatshirts, she knew for certain as she felt near steam escaping from around her collar as she moved to press herself the length of him. It amazed her suddenly how small she felt as it seemed his hand nearly spanned the small of her back.

Deciding a change of pace might be in order her hands slid from back to front, tracing the outline of his ribs. His sweatshirt was her enemy, she decided, as she couldn't rightfully touch him and wrap her arms around his shoulders with it there.

"I bet they have candy bars in the gas station," she teased, kisses moving to his jawline a moment as her eyes flickered open. This was a game - nearly a game of poker. How far was Dean willing to try and push this, she wondered. "You said you wanted one of those, right?"

He would have leaned closer into her touch if it had been at all possible to be closer to her than he already was. She felt good and she was awakening things he'd thought he had long ago put to rest. Well as long ago as two days could be but in this place two hours was a lifetime sometimes. He could have melted into her then as her fingers almost tickled him on their way to causing more heat than already was between them. But he wouldn't. This was a game still.

Oh so the game was going to be played like that? Well then candy bars it was. Or at least it would be until she caved because there was no way she was going to give up kissing him for candy bars. No chance, especially since he was kissing his way away from her mouth along her jaw. You didn't pull away from kissing a Winchester without the consequences. He was so full of it today even he was about to call himself on it but this was just too much fun.

"Mmhm the gas station. Is that where you want to be right now?" he asked and kissed the soft, sensitive spot beneath her ear before pulling back a bit to whisper, "Because we can definitely go now if you're warm enough."

Hm. Maybe he was being sucked into this game further than she was. She had what he wanted and she knew how to make it almost available but not quite. It occurred to him that he was being played by a bigger player than himself now and he couldn't wait to find out just what the next move would be.

She was starting to really get to him and he wasn't sure just how much more temptation he could take before he really just took what he wanted. Instinctively he wanted to play it easy because she was something of mythical proportions to him now. Both innocent and naughty in the same breath. He could have said he was lost in the moment but his mind was still functioning, thankfully, because he wasn't going to lose the game. Not so early on, at least.

So the ante needed upping and he was just the man to do it. Even if he was doing his own bit of shivering as she teased her fingers in circles against his hip. Did she know what was approximately three inches below her hands? Of course. She was a doctor. She could tell immediately and make a medical diagnosis of his current situation faster than maybe he could have. He was very obviously aroused now. He really felt he'd been played now because there was no way to hide and she was still talking about candy bars.

Okay so he could play this to his advantage too. He um hoped. "Yes, I really do need a candy bar," he murmured, his lips brushing her ear in a feathery, noncommittal way. He nibbled her earlobe with a soft breath against her skin as though it had been a snack too difficult to resist. His fingers were now play slowly along the waist band of her pants, stroking ever so lightly along her belly.

"If you're sure you're warm enough," he said and hooked his thumbs into the waistband and pulled her toward him, lifting her off her feet and moving like he'd take her out the door again. Cold girls huddle for warmth? Let's make you cold, Doc.

Round 349 and Lexie Grey was still holding firm to the notion that in this game of relatively obvious spoils she would be victorious. Winning, clearly, meant the difference between being the first to cave and the one who managed to hold on to some semblance of self control. Lexie could do that. She had self control. She was a surgeon and made out of self control. Rawr.

Lexie had thrown in her next round of chips and she could feel the shiver of Dean against her as she claimed one small victory. More importantly as she leaned in to him there was another large victory to be counted. Lexie Grey was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and she would be the victor in this cat and mouse game of self denial.

He had taken a page from her own playbook and Lexie could feel the flush rushing toward her cheeks as his fingertips turned to slow stroking. Then came the surprise before Lexie could even respond as he lifted her up, making motion like the door was the next stop.

Digging in to his shoulder she pulled herself up. He might be able to lift her, but she knew damn well he didn't know what he was getting himself into as both hands pulled on his shoulders and Lexie was quite effectively wrapping her legs around his waist.

"Let's go," she dared.

Almost the last straw. Her legs were wrapped around him now and he had to pause, mid-stride to keep himself from tripping over his boots. Which never used to be a problem, dammit. Except there was no bed to fall into. Nothing even remotely soft for him to lay her down into and continue this game at a slower speed with more self-control. Because she was effectively two micro-fibers away from him. If there clothes hadn't been in the way there would have been no stopping him now.

Wait, what? Let's go? Well that sealed it. He had to do it now because there was absolutely no danger of her going into the weird, slurry, half-cross eyed place she'd been in before. Not while he was around. So without further pause, Dean shouldered the door and the cold air blasted in around them.

He all but squeaked at the sensation against the too-warm skin of his face. Instead he took in a sharp breath and kissed her, his lips as insistent as the first time he'd kissed her. He wasn't going to lose.

He did it. He actually went and did it. Lexie clearly hadn't anticipated that. What had she expected? Maybe to be set on the counter. Or, how about up against a wall? Didn't anybody tell you that the floor, while gross, was in many ways more acceptable than the cold?

Lexie did squeak. In fact, she squeaked twice: once when the cold initially hit her and again when the wind blew up the back of her shirt. However, anything that might come out of her mouth was short lived as he was again kissing her with the same level of need as he had the first go round.

Her arms, free of his shirt and jacket wrapped around his shoulders as he held quite firmly to him in this winner-take-all battle. Lexie, in fact, desperately wanted to be taken. Hands were trading between groping at his shoulders and running her fingers through his hair. The game had been forgotten - things had turned carnal (for Lexie at least) in the face of this kiss.

Did that make her the winner or the loser?

Dean heard her squeak and grinned into his kiss. He'd managed to catch her off guard. The big player had been played. Maybe he had the upper hand now. Maybe her coldness would force them back inside and he would have what he wanted sooner than he'd thought.

His hands which had been caught in the waist band of her pants, rose slowly, caressing the outside of her sweatshirt. Her stomach, her breasts, her arms. He leaned her against the outside of the building and pressed himself warmly against her, his hips trapping hers against the wall.

Suddenly there was the intense, pungent smell of sewer filling his nostrils and Dean gasped. It wasn't really a fight or flight moment yet but he moved in such a way as to push Lexie down to her feet and glance over his shoulder. Oh fuck. One of those stupid, hairy bastards that was mawing and mewling through the snow, dragging a wounded leg or something. It looked angry and tired and it was heading toward them fast enough to be a bit alarming but not so fast that they couldn't outrun it if they tried.

Damn. The game was lost now.

Lexie was pinned there between the wall and Dean as she hung there arms and legs tangled around him. His hands were going exploring and she arched into his touch offering a moan that was nearly inaudible against the raging wind.

The smell hadn't hit her as quickly; but the push snapped her more awake as her eyes slid open and her feet hit the ground. The scent of sewage was nauseating, causing Lexie to gag as she caught sight of the wounded Weevil. She hadn't seen one before; and somehow she had actually imagined it being worse. More teeth. In her imagination it definitely had more teeth.

Game over. It was time to get back to business.

She reached out and grabbed his hand - it was still as hot as her own. "Come on, come on!" Lexie's instinct was to run, not stare at the damn thing and she tried to tug Dean in the direction of the road.

He was two seconds away from finding a way to bring her back inside and make the counter into the best, makeshift anything. He wanted her right then and there but it was entirely too cold and he felt himself losing momentum or well maybe it was just that his pants didn't feel as tight anymore because he'd sacrificed pleasure for winning.

Then there was the Weevil and he wanted to run at it, throw his hands up and shoo it away. Except the thing was a lot less like a skiddish bird and more like an animalistic human that might find them threatening and attack in spite of its own injuries.

So when Lexie grabbed his hand and pulled, yelling 'Come on!' he didn't have to be prodded. He was on the move as fast as she was. He had just enough time to think, as he hit the road along side her that this was the second fucking time he'd been interrupted mid-game since getting here and the second time he was going to have to walk - run? - off the blue balls to relay a girl to safety again.

Looking heavenward as he ran, Dean cussed silently at the powers that be. Yes, he most certainly hated them now.
