Day 7: On the road to the gas station
Who: Lexie Grey and Dean Winchester
What: Currently travelling from the Barn to the Gas Station
When: Day 7, Mid-Morning
Rating: PG-13 / R (Sexual situation)
Status: Complete

As much as Lexie really probably wanted to stay in the barn where it was warm and relatively safe after reading the journal's notes about the snow and the cold and the need to bunker down, she thought she had no other choice than to take a trip from her humble abode to the store for some supplies. In Boston people had loaded up on milk, toilet paper, and rock salt. Lexie had decided she'd be getting her hands on toilet paper, bottled water, and whatever food she could find. For better or for worse, Lexie had been only taking what she needed from the gas station up until now - suddenly the threat of inclement weather and a beastly trek made her reconsider how minimalist she could actually be.

Shoving her lighter in her pocket, Lexie left the rest of her things tucked carefully beneath the floorboards in the barn. She had seen that someone else had been through the barn the other day, and she wasn't so certain that she wanted them going through her humble possessions - even if all she had from the real world were some scrubs and an ID badge.

Pulling her sweatshirt tight about herself, she wondered why she hadn't gone looking for a hat and mittens days ago. Unfortunately, she'd let the cold and snow creep up on her and was left for a nice long walk with a sweatshirt, a heavy pair of construction boots, and jeans that felt they were meant more for summer wear than winter protection. Trudging down the path she squinted, the snow whipping into her eyes. She'd have quite a journey back if she took too long and the world got dark.

How far was it until the thrift shop? Suddenly she was wishing someone had annotated the map with those sort of notations - it would be useful if someone found themselves otherwise until to see the landmarks. She was really close to the pharmacy, looking about for anyone else. Though, at the moment from the best she could tell, everyone was holed up nice and snug in their respective shelters.

Way to be a poor planner, Lexie.

"You're right," he admitted, pretending to be sheepish about it. His eyes lit up when she made herself rustle. "Ohhhh yeah. That's the stuff," he said and shuddered playfully, his eyes rolling dramatically back in his head.

When she moved her hands up his back to grab his shoulders he realized that he wasn't recoiling from the iciness of her fingers. Because they weren't all that cold anymore. He slid his free hand back into her hair to brush it away from her face and then he put his palm to her cheek. With a nod he smiled.

"Oh yeah, you're warming up." He was glad for that. Except now what did he do with his hand? Without much thought he slid it back around her. But this hug, now that she was a lot warmer and more clear-headed than before, was fast becoming a strange, anticipation game. It was sort of like the whole problem of when you were supposed to take your socks off before sex.

Yeah, there was no denying it. The platonic aspect of this situation had disappeared completely in his mind. She'd thrown her head back as she laughed and he eyed her throat, biting his lower lip and trying to laugh through his preoccupation. He wondered what her skin smelled like on a normal day outside the glass bubble. And her hair. He wondered what the hollow of her throat, which she had just exposed, would feel like if he kissed it now.

He really was a lot warmer than he had a right to be himself now considering it was still pretty cold in the store around them. He was certainly a lot warmer than he'd been earlier. He licked his lips. Oh fuck. Stomach aches, wilting plants, smelly dumpsters, uhhh pig styes...

"I'm on to you, Spaceheater," her smile turning to a playful smirk as thie odd sort of game of theirs continued. It wasn't quite cat and mouse nor was it a competition; this game, it seemed, was based more on the concept of chicken. Except in this round, Lexie was finding herself wanting to be hit... er, kissed.

His hand, moving from her hair to her cheek was something she struggled not to pay too much attention to. she knew he was just checking to see if she was warming up; and she was, like he had no idea. The numbness had gone from her hands and she could feel the muscles of his shoulders and his skin and she realized how little clothing was between them. Sure, she was Linebacker Lexie - but that was just because of the ridiculous amount of paper shoved into her shoulders.

"Yeah?" Her voice was clear as she responded to his observation she was warming. His hand slipped away and Lexie was oh so thankful she'd managed not to quite melt into his touch. Her attention, however had shifted away from her latest round of laughter to the way he'd just licked his lips. It was like he was waving a giant red flag, putting out a giant button with a "don't push me" sign, and setting out a candy dish with one last piece simultaneously. She wanted to bite her own lip in response - a distinct flag that she, too was holding back.

Though, Lexie wasn't going to hold back. The silence was pregnant, their pose was sensual, and she figured what the hell. Lexie shifted, pushing herself up on tiptoe, and she went for it. She wanted to know what his lips felt like. If he was one of those all consuming sort of kissers or the sort that went for little short kisses. She wanted to run her lips around his jaw, his neck, his shoulders. For now, however, she'd settle for his lips.

"What?" Tilting his head toward her as though he hadn't quite heard her. "I'm sorry. Did you say you were coming on to me?" he asked and flashed her a rascally grin. "All this crinkling on purpose? Someone might think you were trying to get a rise out of me."

This was fast becoming more suggestive than he'd originally thought would happen between them. She'd seemed so focused and all business before. Now she was all laughter and reacting in the moment. Going along with the game they were playing. Extra points for being fun, Lexie, he thought. Although he would normally have not been okay with all this pretending everything around them wasn't chaotic, she had been cold and needing a lot of warmth. Right? It was all for a good cause. That train of thought made him snort a new laugh in the midst of hers.

He wasn't entirely aware that she'd seen him reacting to her. Ultimately he was envious of her freedom. Sure he laughed and joked but she seemed to not have a care in the world. It took quite a bit for him to let go like that. Which was part of why he was feeling this intense desire to kiss her. Bridge the gap and maybe get a little bit of her spirit in return. Very selfish, he knew it. But he wasn't going to apologize for it.

Especially not now. She'd stepped up on her toes and pressed her lips to his. To hell with convention. A girl after his own heart. He responded immediately, he'd been holding back long enough. He caught her close, pressing his fingers into the small of her back. His mouth was insistent, possessive almost as he kissed her back. He wasn't one for short kisses or shying away from this sort of invitation but he didn't want to push his luck if all she wanted was a kiss. So after a moment he pulled his lips slowly away from hers.

Coming on to him? Getting a rise out of him? It hadn't been her plan nor goal at all - though, suddenly she felt like it had been all along. Was that bad? She wasn't sure. Even as he canted his head accusationally toward her she felt her smirk shifting into something much more juvenile - a kid who'd been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Whoops.

Lexie's mind wasn't even remotely on Vas. No, she could be anyplace right then. She could be stranded in a pharmacy in Boston for all she knew, coiled up against any stranger riding out a blizzard. Hell, she could be in Tahiti right now and she wouldn't have even noticed. It was Dean's fault afterall, that she'd forgotten. He'd distracted her. He'd distracted her by being fun and heroic and handsome. What kind of place had she been dropped into again?

It would sound cliche to think that the world had actually ceased to exist for Lexie Grey. It was more reasonable to say that the world beyond the kiss she yearned for was still quite perceived only due to temperature and it's searing difference to her own.

She could feel his hands as they pulled her closer and she couldn't help but wonder how they might feel actually upon her skin. Right then Lexie actually hated her sweatshirt. The tension of her kiss matched his own, not being one to back away from what she really wanted and she wanted this kiss. Her arms, under his shirt were hiking up the material as her hands trailed along his back, one coming up between his shoulder blades, the other still quite firmly holding to his shoulder.

When he pulled away and left her wanting, Lexie packed down the disappointment out and away. She set her heels back down on the floor as her eyes flickered open. That kiss had left her desirous; but, he had pulled away. If he wanted more, he'd have to come and get it. She'd already been the initiator once.

"I think I just heard you say you were coming on to me," she murmured; truth or dare face back again. If this was poker she desperately wanted him to call her bluff.

Dean liked the way her body seemed to conform to his and her hands reached as she kissed him. That she wanted to touch him as much as he wanted to touch her was a very good sign in his opinion. This game was paying off in much better ways than he'd expected. She was soft under his hands and her mouth was just as insistent as his that he regretted pulling away for the decency of it.

But he didn't let her go as he pulled back. He held her close still even if she did settle back down to her heels. Her sweatshirt had ridden up some when she'd stood up on her toes and now that she was settling back down, his fingers slid down her back as well, coming in contact with her skin just under the edge of the sweatshirt which was wonderfully warm. No, she'd have to tell him to let go or try to step away before he was releasing her into the cold. Besides, at this point, without her pressed against him he was going to get cold pretty damned quickly considering how warm he was at the moment.

To tease her, he trailed his fingers along the edge of her back where her sweatshirt had ridden up. His fingers grazed her skin ever so slightly. "No, can't remember saying that at all, Doc," he said and grinned at her, watching for some sort of reaction because he was sure she wasn't all that cold anymore.

"Me? I would never come on to a fetish. Even when the object of desire is doing everything in her power to tempt me with her sexy crinkling hoboness. I'm as pious as a monk."

She was still held quite firmly there in a pose that mimicked a pair at a high school dance. Lexie's grip had loosened on his shoulder and her hands were trailing down and away as the need to hold on quite so tightly dissipated. She was pretty sure he was not going to be picking her up and carrying her out into the cold right now.

Despite the relative cool that she managed to manifest on her features, Lexie felt ramped up - like she had been in the middle of a mile long jog and forced to stop and do something that required thinking. She'd just hit her stride, dammit! This, of course, was all bottled up inside Lexie's head, and not even really what she was focused on. Right now, the back of her mind was acutely aware of the status of his fingertips as they managed to find that spot where denim and sweatshirt had parted ways. Hello, goosebumps.

"No?" She asked, coyly. He was still playing, and Lexie could play, too. Even as let that last bit go about tempting crinkling hobos. She swallowed her laughter.

"Yeah, well, even if you weren't, any response I had, was purely self preservation. You know, groping and such." Her back arched as she tried to skirt that tiniest patch of flesh away from the tickling of his fingertips as they danced there. Of course, this motion only caused her to crush into him.

When she loosened her grip, he loosened his though he didn't step away or leave her skin alone. Not in the least. He was enjoying the softness of her and the warmth. It didn't matter to him that this was now a slightly awkward looking situation. It didn't feel awkward to him. It was exactly what he wanted and what he liked. A girl, in his arms, alone and lots of sexual subtext.

"No," he confirmed and gave her an over-the-top shocked look when she mentioned groping. Shaking his head slowly with a new look of disturbed propriety, he said, "You, Dr. Grey, are very inappropriate with your patients. Saving them from hypothermia is not enough. You need payment for it too?" He tried to maintain the tone of disapproval but it was such a farce that he had to laugh again.

Which set off another round of aches in his sides that he only barely winced at because she was doing something like - was that asking for more? He caught her arched back with a slide of his fingers upward along her skin under the sweatshirt. "Just remember, you started it," he said quietly.

He kissed her again. This kiss, set on a slow burn, started softly and almost tauntingly in a dance across her lips. Teasing, tempting at her. He knew what sort of animal was under his own skin and what he could do when he wanted and oh he wanted right now. He wanted to see what sort of creature Lexie Grey was now.

If Lexie had any movement to indicate that she wanted out of their high school dance pose it was purely unintentional. More likely she wanted him to stop oh so gingerly brushing his fingertips about the small of her back in a motion not unlike tickling.

Lexie's jaw dropped when he said no, she even gasped. "Oh?" She gave a look of shock. "I see right through you, Mr. Winchester. You save the girl only so that you might have your way with her later." Her own tone was sort of accusatory as she played the game of who shot first.

'Just remember, you started it,' he said, and Lexie was about to open her mouth with a turnabout when she realized his fingers were to her bare skin and climbing. A sharp intake of air as Lexie was about to say something regarding groping as his lips closed in and captured hers.

This was a teasing man's kiss. It was like the back and forth of their verbal sparring - it was testing and probing and working at getting a reaction out of her. She'd give a reaction, all right.

Hands that had fallen to his waist ran up along his sides until again they were at his shoulders and kneading. It was like she was trying to find just the right spot to hold on to. While it would have been ideal for her lips to mirror her hands, Lexie's kiss was more subtle. Dean wanted slow burn, she'd give him slow burn, a smile threatening to erupt at any time.

He caught and filed away the amusement at her almost protest when he said she'd started it. There was something very innocent - maybe it was just goodness? - about her in a way but she sure as hell didn't kiss like an innocent girl. It made it even more delicious to be kissing her this way because there was only a certain amount of time a good girl could bluff. The thought never crossed his mind that maybe she wasn't bluffing, maybe she was not as good a girl as he suspected. He was too damned sure he was right.

Which meant he allowed her to be subtle when she kissed. He was subtle too, matching her teasing with his own and stepping it up a notch. His tongue flicked against her lower lip but it was still a very chaste and playful kiss. He paused too and said, "I could go for a candy bar now, what do you say?" and then he was kissing her again.

Still the con was on, as far as he was concerned so if his kiss was light, his touch was not. His fingers explored her back in lazily trailed circles. Sometimes his fingernails grazed the sides of her ribs. He could certainly give as good as he got and what he was getting made him want even more. She made the cold around them seem like nothing. It wasn't there.

There is a certain level of a distinction to be made between innocence and goodness. Lexie was a walking example of that distinction. She was a few yards left of innocent, though still quite good. There was an elusive quality to the notion of the 'good girl,' though, if someone was seeking honest, kind, and funny - Lexie fit the bill pretty well.

Dean was pushing her buttons, the kiss still quite playful as she tried desperately to stifle the rolling laughter that tightened in her belly. For her own amusement, Lexie squirmed a bit against him, the newspaper crinkling with each press of her to him. She felt his tongue and she was about to up the ante when he realized he was talking. Did he just say he wanted a candy bar? Lexie could hardly contain her laughter, again, laughing to the ceiling as she took just a moment to catch her breath. Had she forgotten to breathe there somewhere?

He was playing the same game she was - and it didn't surprise her. Just like the banter, something just sort of clicked. Lexie in response dragged her nails slowly along the ridge of his spine, her other hand continued grappling with his shoulder. She liked shoulders. In particular, Lexie liked his shoulders.

Cold? What cold?
