Something like that, only with things made of metal and electricity.

Mother, this is very hard to explain. A dimension...it's a level of reality, you could say. For instance, you have always lived in a place called Middle Earth. Here, we only know it as planet earth. However, if you transport across this dimension, this plane of reality I have always known, you can end up in Middle Earth, your plane of reality. I think I'm only confusing you more, aren't I? I'm so sorry, dear, even scientists of the highest caliber can't always explain it, and I'm not scientist myself. Truthfully, I'm a goddess, though one of knowledge.

That's a lot to take in. But I think I kind of understand what you mean, Miss Goddess-Phoebe. You're saying that I was transported from Middle Earth, my world, into this other world. Greaaaat.

Now how do I get back? Can I travel using this electricity thing?

Ah, you see.

You can't, dear one. Whatever gust of Zephyr brought us here is not keen on returning us at all. Fortunately for me, this world is quite similar to the one I was born into and have lived through since Creation, but it is very different for others.

I'm so sorry, Pippin.

You... can't be serious! What about the Shire? What about all the hobbits back home? And I thought all the adventuring was all over and done with.

Well, I think it's quite safe to assume that everyone still there is quite fine, unless there's some impending doom focusing on the Shire. There's the idea that time is, in essence, still while we have gone away—that, perhaps, when we return it will be like we'd dreamed, no matter how long we've been here.

And then there is the real possibility that we won't even remember it. Honestly, dear, I wouldn't worry about it. From what I have seen in my eons of life, you have no need to be so distressed.

Well, the impending doom part is over. Frodo destroyed the ring so it's all over now! But still, I hoped that I could have just spent the rest of my days smoking my Longbottom leaf and drinking ale... It would be nice to come back though to find it unharmed.

Perhaps you can find some Longbottom leaf here! And don't worry—there's plenty of alcohol to go around in this place, you'll find. You have a whole new world of ale and whatnot to try out here!
