Maker, I forgot how much fun it is playing card games with people who don't know me. I was at the poker table for two hours tonight in Monte Carlo, and there was only one bloke who seemed to be able to read me at all. I came away with twenty-eight hundred euros and another bloke teaching me a brand new insult in French. Apparently 'putain' is sort of an all purpose profanity; I'll remember that!

I would use putain only in connection with other vulgar words, such as putain de merde! (Holy f***ing sh*t, f*cking hell type of things.) There's salope for basic terms of disliking a nasty woman. Putain came from pute, which means "rotten," and is where the English "putrid" comes from.

I have knowledge of all of earth's languages, but French remains the most bizarre and beautiful.

	Well, this bloke was apparently very irritated that I took his money in a legal and fair game. He gave me my chips and said "Here, bitch" in English, then muttered what I thought was 'putain' under his breath. Really, it was amusing. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
