Aang is bathing and grooming Appa in the Nexus, far enough from the Sign that no new arrivals will get wet from Sky Bison unless they are exceptionally unlucky. As you can imagine, it's a bit of a production, even if Aang has somehow borrowed buckets and a hose and a lot of pet shampoo. Seriously, a lot.

He's barefoot and half-dressed, and there's giant clumps of bison fur around from Appa. Momo is off to the side, using Appa's tack as a hiding place.

"Poor Appa. His summer coat is finally coming in, and that always makes a mess. You'll feel better once we get this off, boy."

"Does anyone want to help? We can go for a ride later, after Appa dries off."

Georgia looks distracted. At least she had problems sitting in one place for long. "Anyone have a map of the portals that lead here? Because I've been here a while and I would really like to go home and tell Shaun that I'm still among the living. Or any other way for me to get back home?"

Envy flops down on a convenient nexus stool under the Sign. He's wearing a black skintight jacket over his usual outfit, to take care of whatever cold homunculi feel in winter.

He stares at the passerby before asking a question.

"Have you ever had life set a problem before you that seemed too hard to solve?"

Ira is pretty sure he got here through a dreamstate. Or if not quite a dreamstate, then certainly something that isn't in any way related to the ordinary corporeal world back in Nevada. Maybe something like the out-of-place, out-of-time shared mental spaces Jersey was working on. Before... well, when Jersey had the telepathic capacity to work on anything like that.

Now, Ira thinks (not entirely charitably) he seems to mostly have the capacity to bitch.

He's a rational human being. Bit emotional sometimes, sure, but mostly rational, and has an MSc in psychology (well, telepathic psychology, but he doesn't tell most people the first word) to prove it. If you can call psychology rational, when the entire discipline's had to deal with the likes of Freud. You take what you can get. Anyway, the ongoing monologue rationale in his head is pointing out that this is obviously a construct of his own mind, because that sign's screaming out what he's wanted to do for days. Ask a question. Or rather, several questions. And ask them of people who aren't so closely involved with the whole situation.

It's entirely possible he's gone crazy, here, he realises, but right now he'll roll with it.

"Okay," he says genially to the locals at large. "Here's a question. If you got your boyfriend into a mess -- sort of, though technically speaking he got himself into it, I won't bore you with the gory details -- anyway, having already broken up once, how godawful is it to be considering leaving him again?"

There's an explosion as a portal opens. Wild elemental energy whips through, followed by the flying (albiet not willingly) forms of four people, three girls and a boy all about college aged, who all land in a heap not far from the sign. The portal closes behind them.

They're strange looking, dressed like normal college students, but those are some damn weird dye jobs they got. The boy, with grass green hair, is the first to wake up and lift his head, looking around. If anyone's got an eye for details, they'll notice his eyes match his hair.

"What the fuck?" is the first words out of his mouth.
