What a superb start to the Games. Made so many hurts better without being overly sweet or fluffy. Good to see Severus get the proper happy ending he deserved. The time travel and role reversal were very well done. A well plotted and beautifully written fic that was a pleasure to read.

a lovely piece of work! I love long fics and the whole paradox thing and its consequences are sensibly explained. I liked that Harry did not just suddenly fell in lust with severus and forgot all about ginny, but that it was a slow process of getting over of what could have been a happy family life with her and his friends...

*squee!!!!!!!!!!!* I literally did a little happy dance when I finished this and ran to tell my roommate about it.

This was just fantastic! I loved it, loved it, loved it! They were all so amazingly in character. This is one of my new favorites. Great job!

Great story!

Early on, I was worried what effect Harry's buying Severus' robes would have. Though, as it became clear that Harry wasn't returning to his own time line, I was more interested in how you'd handle the paradox.

I think all the small changes, then larger ones as Harry became an active participant in the fight against Voldemort caused things to shift enough that your solution is very believable. My one concern is I don't remember Nagini being killed? Did you just leave an opening for Voldemort to return down the road? Poor Harry, if so.

I really liked your take on Severus. His base personality is unchanged, but the slightly better experiences and the fact that at least one person favored him softened him

Harry was also still himself, but older and slightly more cautious. It was interesting to see his reactions to Dumbledore's manipulations of people from the other side. (Pleading Sirius' age really amused me. Harry was doing much worse things at a much younger age.)

I really enjoyed this!

I've only now gotten to start reading the games, and this is the start of it? Yay! A Meri story!

Much love for your writing style, your portrayals of Snape at any age, and your tendency to write deliciously long fics. *snugs*

I loved this fic so much I set up an IJ to review it.

:)

I really love the dynamics of young!Severus and older!Harry. Edward and Rose were fantastic, and I love how Harry didn't like James much, plus how you described away he and Lily being his parents. I think that last was particularly well handled. Excellent fic, and what a way to start the games!

I have to admit that I was bothered by a couple of things (Was Molly in the Order the first time around? That sort of thing) but I really, really enjoyed reading this story. I loved how you changed things just enough for a great ending. I missed Ron and Hermione, but I loved your Severus! Thanks so much for a great read :)

Oh, great title, too!

O.O

Holy crap. That was AMAZING. Like... I'm a little stunned right now. I've seen Harry goes back in time to be with Snape fics before, but this one is so different! Really well done :D.

And Kingsley being gay?! LOL.

Oh, that was lovely! I read it straight through and the only complaint I can come up with is that there wasn't more of it. Like 2nd year, 4th year... you get the point.

Brilliant -- thank you.

Thank you for a really interesting story! I really enjoyed your take on weaving what happened in canon with how that could have been altered in subtle and major ways by a single time traveller. Nicely done! I also very much enjoyed Edward and Rose, and Edward's views.
Thank you very much!

Like Charlie. Harry smiled at that. Oh wait, Charlie hadn't been born yet.

Haha. This line made me smile and reminded me why I love time travel so much. It gives a story more interesting scenarios.

I love mature! Harry & young! Severus. Love their teacher/student relationship with Harry supporting & guiding Sev. And I love this fic just as I love all your Snarry fics. Gem of a story, Meri!

Loved it lots. :) I've read more than a few time travel stories but this one still felt fresh. I really enjoyed seeing Severus going through Hogwarts with Harry there to look out for him now and then.
Truly, fantastic fic to open this year's Games. Thank you!

Wonderful, you set a high bar for the rest of the fest. By about 2/3 of the way through I was absolutely terrified that Harry would find a way back and have to leave Severus behind. I am so glad that I was wrong.

Oh my God. Oh my God. This is beyond brilliant. Absolutely wonderful. You've just made DH bearable for me, and, I'm sure, for a lot of us who feel people aren't ever fated to abject misery. I just wish I could vote on IJ.

Thank you, thank you so much for this story!!!

This was great! I like the way you prepare the reader for the paradox that never comes. I'm glad I finally had time to read this. I love alternate reality Snape characterizations, and this was a really good one.

I am the slowest thing since continental drift, but I have finally finished your wonderful story and find myself - unsurprisingly - very impressed.
The 'back in time' plot was expertly handled; you showed Harry's 'lost' feeling just right. You didn't overdo it, banging on forever, but got it true to his character. Harry is always determined to do his best, and I love the way he takes to teaching, which again rings true.
Severus is a delight; and you've twisted his fate through Harry's guidance without turning him into a different person, unrecognisable.
What a great start for our team!
