Notes: I drew this about a year ago, but never got a chance to upload it. The comm has been pretty quiet as of late (and so have I, sorry guys :|), so I figured why not?
An incredibly funny and adorable comic set in an AU where Snape and Lupin are a couple raising Teddy. Little Teddy asks his Dad (Lupin) to play football with him, but Dad is totally inept at sports, so Teddy ventures into the laboratory to ask Papa Snape to play with him--which got me hooked right from the start, since I love the "Dad" and "Papa" thing, and I've used it in my own fanfics. Papa turns out to have a surprising hidden talent for football, and Lupin provides a hilarious commentary. The story is both funny and sweet, and the art is charming--I especially love the scene in the lab where Teddy timidly asks Snape to play with him, and Snape in goggles in the same scene is just awesome, and his trademark Snapely nose is awesome, too! Even if you don't care much for Snupin, I think this comic will make you smile.

Summary: It's the greatest competition of their lives. This year's Fashion Show winner will be featured in a photo spread in Vogue magazine. With everyone vying for the prize, is it any wonder that everything seems to go wrong?
To be honest, I normally don't care much for non-magical AUs, but I like the author, so I read it anyway, and once again I'm reminded that it's a good idea to broaden my horizons a bit and try something different, because I really loved this fic. The concept of Snape and Lupin being fashion design students might seem a little out there, but it works, because Snape is still recognizably his snarky self even as a fashion designer--unsurprisingly, he has a hard time finding models willing to work with him, as they tend to be driven off by his temper and sharp tongue. I enjoyed the developing friendship and romance between Snape and Lupin, which steadily grows stronger, yet is hampered by Snape's temper and issues of trust between them. Naturally I was rooting for them to get together, but Snape is just not the sort of person who is going to open his heart and make himself vulnerable right from the start, and it felt real to me that there were obstacles along the way and that they had to work to earn each other's trust.
In addition to the romance, there's a mystery element involving someone apparently trying to sabotage the fashion show. It was very effectively suspenseful and kept me intrigued right up until the big revelation, which had a surprising and clever twist that I won't spoil. Go read the fic if you want to find out what happened! ^_^
Rain also did a magnificent job with the large cast of supporting characters: Regulus is wonderful with his witty charm and long-suffering patience as Snape's best friend, who remains loyal and supportive despite Snape's fits of temper and dark moods. Even the smaller roles, such as Viktor Krum as Snape's assistant, and Hestia Jones as Snape's model are vividly brought to life; Neville, Lily, Pansy, Tonks, and Kingsley also put in appearances. Part of the joy of reading this story was seeing what roles the author would put these characters into, and how they would take on a life of their own. They all had interesting, distinctive personalities--in some cases, much more than they had in canon.
It's really a wonderful story, and as an added bonus, has gorgeous accompanying illustrations.

Snily is my OTP, but Snupin has been growing on me lately and I'm really enjoying these recs. I finally have something other than Snily fics (or gen Snape fics) bookmarked in my HP fic folder, lol. :)
The comic made me LOL and I'm enjoying "Why Do You Design?" (so far it kind of seems like Paradise Kiss [which I love] crossed with HP). I've also bookmarked "Banished" from another rec post (that I have lost track of somehow)...and I also checked out/bookmarked your own website and I'm enjoying the Snupin fic there as well. ;) (I tend to read 50 bajillion things at once...it's a wonder I finish anything, lol).
