Now every day can be Smutday!

Well, these two posts were ready to go Sunday evening, while it was still June 28th, but due to maintenance, Insane Journal was unavailable, so I'm posting them late.  So just pretend it's still Sunday, okay?  Thanks.

Today (June 28th) marks the 40th anniversary of the night that changed the world for millions of gay men and women - the night the police raided the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, NYC, and the gays fought back.  I'm not saying there weren't already people out there fighting for the rights of gays, but the Christopher Street riots charged the atmosphere, and practically overnight, what had been a small "Homophile Movement" exploded to become the Gay Rights Movement - and the world has never been the same. 

At least mine hasn't. 

I have a really cool link to share, but I'm not going to dwell on Gay Rights here. It's not the place, I don't think. But I do intend to celebrate Gay Pride with a couple of posts. As for my posts today, I'm sure some of you will have seen some of these before...I have my favorites, after all, but I've got some new art and photos for you, too.  I included one piece by Neil Bruce at the end of this post that doesn't really have any overt references to gay pride, but the tattoo the guy is wearing is the emblem of the Human Rights Campaign, who are steadfast supporters of GLBT Rights, and it seemed appropriate.  Besides, I felt this post needed a bear, what with the high percentage of twinks and all...

It seems like I've been ignoring those of you who are not members this month, so I thought I'd put up some uniform pics that even those that can't, or don't want to view the NC17 rated art could enjoy.  As a matter of fact, there is nothing in any of these that's even rated PG13.  This is probably the cleanest post you'll ever see me make.  And after a extremely NC17 rated Insane Thursdays post and a rather intense Fetish Fridays post, we could probably all do with something a bit on the lighter side, right?

J.C. Leyendecker was an early 20th century illustrator famous for his covers for such illustrious magazines as The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's Magazine.  He was also well known for popularizing several ad campaigns - most especially the Arrow Collar Man, which was one of the longest running and most successful ad campaigns ever.  He was a contemporary of Maxfield Parrish, and friend and inspiration for a young Norman Rockwell, who admits he was influenced by Leyendecker's work.

Leyendecker was one of the most widely recognized commercial artists of his day, and his covers for the Post helped firm several iconic figures into the American consciousness, including the New Year's baby and the modern interpretation of Santa Claus.  In 1913, when Woodrow Wilson declared Mother's Day an official holiday, Leyendecker painted a Post cover commemorating the day, which some say actually began the tradition of giving flowers to celebrate the occasion.

And what does this all have to do with smutday, you may ask?  Well, he was a fairly openly gay man, in an era that shunned that, and today, many gays claim to see homoerotic tendencies in much of his art.  Unfortunately, I'm not showing some of the most obvious examples, because there are no uniforms in them, but that's okay.  It's easy to appreciate his art and his lovely, lovely men even without the paintings with more overtly gay images. 

I'm sure I'll make at least one more post of his art at some point - I don't have any of his Roaring Twenties art here, or any Arrow Shirt Men either, and his favorite model for those paintings was his lover of almost 50 years, Charles Beach.  I just love that - most marriages should last that long.  So yeah, you'll see more of him.  But for today, take a look at his uniforms - mostly Military and Sports related, but all of them fascinating.

Some time back a member of Live smutday (sorry, I can't remember who it was, right now) linked us to a great artist by the name of Les Toil, who draws BBWs. For those of you not in the know, BBW stands for Big Beautiful Women. And Les Toil is definitely a lover of Big Beautiful Women. The women you'll see here are real, not constructs out of someone else's imagination. They submit their photos and their wishes for their painting to Les Toil, and he works with them to produce a work of art that is uniquely for them. Pretty cool, huh?

So I just happened to be wandering the internet looking for women in uniforms for this month's theme posts, and wandered back onto Les Toil's site. I hadn't realized he had quite so many paintings that fit our subject matter. Remember, I'm using a rather loose interpretation of the word uniform. A woman in a business suit is in uniform, in my opinion, as is a cook in an apron. So sit back and enjoy the Toil Girls!

For today's Uniforms offering I have for you the art of Ben Kimura.  I don't have that much information about the artist, but according to the english translation of the site I linked to above, he died in 2003 at the age of 56.  He was obviously popular in Japan in the 80's, drawing illustrations, original art and comics.  He had one book published entitled Tan-Pan Body, and obviously made at least one cd of his art that was sold over the internet (sorry, I don't have links for these.)

What I have here is a selection of men and boys in uniforms, mostly in sports and the military.  Obviously he did draw some sexually explicit gay art, as I did find one piece of men in military uniform that has full frontal nudity (which I will show at a later date!)  But everything else I have found by him is, at the most, rated R.  

By the way...I'm having trouble finding much art or photos of women in uniform, so if you come across anything, feel free to share, or send me some links - I'd love to post some, but I've yet to come across enough of decent quality to make a post.  Until then, you'll just have to look at the pretty men...  I think you can deal with that, can't you?

Uniforms.  Not everyone wears them, but many people do.  Cops, doctors and nurses, every branch of the military, people in pretty much every sport from tennis to baseball to wrestling, airline pilots and attendants, race horse jockeys, the guy who takes your order at your favorite fast food restaurant - you see uniforms pretty much everywhere you go. 

For that matter, many people you don't think of as wearing uniforms, really are: business men and women wear suits, high school gym teachers wear sweat suits and whistles around their necks, construction workers wear hard hats and tool belts and tight t-shirts and even tighter jeans...okay, maybe that's just in Tom of Finland's imagination, but you get the idea. 

I was going to start out the month with one last masturbation post that also fits the theme of Uniforms, but then I realized all the pictures were NC17, so only the members could see the theme of the month post, and that just didn't seem right.  So I'll post those for Fetish Friday, instead. 

So you're getting R rated Tom of Finland in it's place.  I'm sure that those of you who know his work realize how hard it was to find this many men in uniform that weren't proudly revealing their extremely large cocks to anyone and everyone they could find.  Fortunately, Tom has a thing for uniforms, so I was able to find a good variety.  Of course, there are many more that are rated NC17, so I'll need to have at least one more post with his work in it before the month is over. 

Tom of Finland was not alone in his attraction to uniforms, and when I see a leather man with a soldier's hat, or pants with a stripe down the side and knee-high leather boots, I tend to consider those accessories as parts of a gay subculture's uniform.  So when you see leather men in this mix, you'll understand why. 

A few of the drawings you'll see have a Tom of Finland insignia at the bottom - prints of those drawings are for sale at the ToF site.  So if you're interested in supporting a Foundation which actively supports the growth of new erotic artists, invest in a print.  I'm sure you won't be sorry.

Anthropomorphism - Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena. Yes, that's right, we're talking about Furries. But not the lifestylers that dress up in Fur Suits. That's part of the fun, right?

In the Furry Community the sexual aspects are often called Yiff, so what we're taking a look at today is a bit of "Yiffing." Of course some artists are better at it than others, so you may notice that I keep coming back to two or three that I was particularly impressed by. There are three posts - the next one will be NC17, and the third will be kinky Yiff - including bondage, hermaphrodites and watersports (uh, also NC17, of course.) Happy Easter, if you celebrate it, and happy Free Candy Day if you don't...  It's already the 12th, and I don't have a theme announced for April, so I figured I should probably get to that.  Ozsaur pointed out that so far all I've posted this month has had a religious theme to it, but to be honest, after today's post, I really don't have much more of a religious nature to post.  Besides, I never finished last month's travel posts, and I've got tons more modes of transportation to share with you.  So I'm throwing the month open to whatever you feel like.  (I know, you can do that already, but this way I don't have to decide, so there.)

You may have noticed that I've been kind of cutting back on my posting lately.  That's partly due to my not feeling well, but it also has to do with a new direction my life has taken recently.  I've started going back to church, and have decided that I need to "clean up my act."  So I've taken a hiatus on my writing, and am trying to decide what to do with this community.  Do I step down, and let someone else take over?  Should I close it down?  Or should I take the community in a new direction? 

At the moment, I'm leaning towards changing the direction of the comm, but I'm leaving the final decision up to you.  You've stuck with me and Smutday for over two years, now, and I'd like your advice.  What I have in mind is an R rated version of what we have now.  Lots of eye candy, but less of the hard, graphic stuff.  So I'd like you to take a look at what I've got in this post, and tell me what you think.  Would you stick around if Smutday decided to lighten up a bit?

For this post, we're taking a look at bicycles. Bicycles had a place in my childhood, like most people, but I have to admit I don't bike anywhere these days.  I haven't owned one for years. But many adults do. I know a lot of people who bike to work and back - it's much better than getting stuck in traffic, you don't have to deal with overcrowded buses or subways and we won't even discuss the issue of parking - which is practically impossible here in Boston.  Bikes can also be good for you as a form of exercise. 

But many people use their bikes for relaxation, and that's what we're going to concentrate on today. I have a confession to make...I have a crush. Her name is AGNA. She's a fetish model, designer and photographer from the Russian Federation. I found her this last week, and I'm fascinated by her. She's on Live Journal as fetishmamma, and you can find her at FXMode.ru which is well worth a visit even if, like me, you don't speak a word of Russian. 

But you can always visit some translation service like Google Translate or Babble Fish to in order to get a better idea of what you're clicking on.  The translations are not perfect, but they're better than nothing.  The best photos can be found at the Fetish Gallery, and if you go through them all, you'll find most of the pictures I'm going to show you here, but it will take a while, because there are a bunch of photos.  FXMode and Smile-and-Cry are related - but Smile-and-Cry seems to be the Fetish shop that AGNA works with (as model, photographer and designer.)  I think you'll find things to keep you busy at either place. 

AGNA is not the only model there, but she's the one I tend to keep going back to...I went through the pics randomly, trying to find ones I really liked to post, and realized that almost all of the ones I grabbed featured her, so I finally gave in and just tossed the others.  So what you'll see here is AGNA, plus a few un-named models working with her.  And yes, this Fetish Friday features only women/lesbians.  I figured after yesterday's gay Bathhouse posts, we needed some women to balance things out, right?
