Fellow Kindred,

It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement about the loss of Elysium, also known as the Blue Velvet, and its keeper—the lovely Anastasia Thorne. On the last night of September 30, the Blue Velvet went up in flames in a matter of minutes. Even with the timely response of the Sheriff and his Hounds, many of our kind were still lost or injured in the process. I offer my deepest condolences to all who have lost loved ones or been affected by what transpired that fateful night. Please know that there are avenues available to all who may require extra support during this trying period for the kindred as we brace as a community to get through this together.

But in times of great adversity, the best of people can also emerge. And I would like to make a special mention of thanks, not only to Anastasia, who made the ultimate sacrifice so that our loss could be reduced to the most minimal, but also to the following members of our community.

Firstly, to the Sheriff and his Hounds, for their steadfast, unwavering bravery and sense of duty in getting as many of our kind to safety as they could and coordinating rescue efforts on the ground

Second, to the Ventrue Primogen Micah Lucciano for generously opening up his reserves and providing blood to all the injured at the scene.

The Marquess of Hell’s Kitchen Joseph Morvell for responding swiftly and availing his premises for refugees of the unfortunate tragedy.

For all those mentioned as well as the unmentioned heroes of that night, I am grateful for the contributions you have made for the better of our community and I assure you, those responsible for the terrible event will be brought to justice and made to pay for their crimes.

But for now, we grieve. And we take a moment to remember all who were lost. A memorial will be held in the near future, as soon as we have made arrangements to attend to the injured and those most gravely affected. A great calamity has befallen us, but it is my hope that we as a community will band together and emerge stronger through it all.

Sincerely,
Lucian Carlye

A very good evening to my fellow Kindred in the city of New York. Once again, it has come to the time of the year where we celebrate the fourth of July alongside the Kine.

The last five years have seen drastic changes for our city. We have suffered losses and emerged wiser from it. I would like to use this opportunity to encourage all the young, able, and motivated Kindred to step forward to do their part to grow this city. The installation of ShreckNET was the first step towards bringing our people together, but it is only the beginning of our journey.

We have made steps forward: all Kindred, regardless of which clan they belong to, if they are Caitiff or Thin-Bloods, have a place in our society if they so choose. If we are to emerge stronger as a whole, we have to embrace all of our differences as Kindred. We have open channels of communication with the Anarchs and the doors of my administration are open to all members of the Kindred—young or old. We have much to do to ensure that the Masquerade is here to stay and that we as a people will continue to thrive in New York.

There may be difficulties ahead in our path towards a better future, but it is my firm belief that the good Kindred of New York have the strength and tenacity to face anything thrown our way and emerge stronger for it. If we continue to grow and embrace the changes that are needed within our very foundation, then it is my belief that this time next year that New York will have become the true jewel of the Camarilla and serve as an inspiration for all.

Yours in Service,
Lucian Carlyle, Prince of New York City
