Ignoring the creepy context-is-for-the-weak aspect of this, didn't I just see this exact same plot with Hawk and Mock on the other side of the fence?

Returning to the actual events of the comic... what I like about Babs/Dinah is that when Babs does some stupid unilateral shit like this, Dinah calls her ass out. When Ollie does some stupid unilateral shit like this, Dinah marries him. It just seems like a much less healthy relationship, y'know?

What just happened?

Is Ollie into knock-out foreplay as part of his secret deathtrap fetish? Does he finish that sentence in the last panel by saying, "...you will be mine, fair Nell." Because otherwise...yikes.

WHAT THE FUCK? Did Ollie just trick her into getting zapped so he can be all "I gotta do whatever heroing needs to be done alone, it's for your own good"? Because that's what this looks like to me.

Uhg.

He's gotta do it alone because she won't let him do it stupid. Or, rather,

Ollie is Over the Edge and Willing To Kill! Dinah Is Concerned For His Soul! Ollie Will Not Let Her Stop Him, Even If It Rips Them Apart!

Dinah has killed, though, as has Ollie. And between the two of them, he's probably the more idealistic; she's the one who hangs with Shiva and suspects she'd be willing to kill the Joker in cold blood for what he did to Babs. So this story makes sense on no levels at all. As usual.

Well, for this scene she's right in thinking that Meryln's behavior is off and that he's been drugged, and that Ollie's being led into a trap.

Also, keep in mind Canary stopped working with Shiva because she was scared of the affect Shiva was having on her.

It was a long time ago, but after Longbow Hunters. Ollie had been kidnapped and tortured by some gang, and she went in guns blazing (literally). Her strategy was shoot anything that moved, and if things were still moving at two bullets, she was going to kill herself and Ollie.

Because they're simpletons, and by they I mean "I". I remember flipping through that story (via scans, I'm not that old) and thinking, "Oh, cool, now they're even." I had this notion that if you could check off bad things and good things that happened to each, and it came out close to even, then Things Were All Right. It's a simple world view, but I can understand where it comes from.

I thought of it as more two negatives then one positive. Like, Dinah fans got the short end of the stick, then Ollie did. It's like taking turns being at the bottom of the pyramid! Except the people above you are wearing cleats and have bony knees.

well, if that's the case it's probably the slippery slope thing. If Dinah kills and doesn't really regret it she's continue to see it as a viable option and occasionally do it and other heroes will condemn her at least a little, while if Ollie does it he'll tear himself up about, resolve to never do it again, the other heroes will give him a stern glare but he'll be so traumatized they'll probably spend more time worrying about him doing something to himself.

You know, that plot.

Unless he's done something recently, this Ollie hasn't killed since when Hal brought him back, he restored his memories only up to a point before he'd ever killed.

He doesn't remember having killed, no, but it's unbelievable that no one would have filled him in on what he missed. At minimum, he knows the facts. And it's not *his* memory, specifically, that's relevant here; what's relevant is that we, the fans, can go back and read those stories, that we the fans know in extensive, series-long detail what Grimdark!Ollie looks like and how he crosses that line, and the ways in which he questions himself and does not question himself when he does it, and should be able to expect a storyline that covers similar ground to be consistent with that take. What's relevant is that *Dinah,* the one who's freaking out about Ollie crossing the line, remembers when he killed before, and how he behaved afterward, and what it meant for him and for them as a couple, and should be expected to interact with him from the perspective of having that memory and experience.

Dinah (correctly) assumes that Ollie's being led into a trap, but he's become obsessed with catching Merlyn so he doesn't believe her.

"Fine. Hand me my quiver."

"What am I, your caddy? Pick up your own damned quiver."

"But-- I mean, come on, Dinah. The quiver's right there next to you. Just hand it to me, please?"

"Ollie, the quiver is all of two steps away from you. So pick the stupid quiver up already."

"No! It must be you who picks up the quiver!"

Well, we did get to see Ollie get the crap kicked out of him. While JLU!Ollie is pretty cool, it was rather cathartic to see any non-Connor Green Arrow get beaten up.

Dinah and Ollie have known each other for years. Years, years, years. They're married, for chrissakes. And Ollie isn't a moron, but Dinah is pretty well the more cunning of the two. So, all those years, all that time...

...Dinah doesn't know that Ollie has a booby trapped quiver?

Ahh. I get it.

This is the set - up for the divorce issue. I mean, it is, right? A man pulling a stunt like that on you is not worth being your husband.

On the other hand we are talking about the woman who married the guy who "rescued" her adoptive daughter without telling her.

So yeah. :/
