Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #4
Ok... We all love the Marvel Adventures line of comics.

But there was a time not that long ago when Marvel Adventures (originally called Marvel Age) was completely superfluous essentially consisting of lame retelling of old Lee/Ditko stories modern art.

Then something amazing happened.

Type your cut contents here.

Ok so the story starts out with Spider-Man fighting the ALL-NEW, ALL-STARTLING CHARACTER FIND OF 2005... The most startling villain imaginable! THE STREET!

The Human Torch attempts to lend a hand, but Street gets away. The two heroes bicker for a bit and Johnny Storm goes home and starts peaking around Reed Richards lab. Will he be able to resist the red button? The red, shiny candy like button?

Johnny needs help...

Spider-Man reluctantly agrees to help. The heroes end up fighting THE STREET (who is still explaining his origin story) two more times. Then something amazing happens.

Oh man, I love it all.

The Cap panel is genius.

And the best bit of all:

"What's that, webhead?"
"Gold. Or, as Goom might say in his old-school speak... bling."
"YEAH BOIIYYYEEE!"

God, how I loved that issue. I'm never, ever selling that one.

He'd just learn how to a)blow stuff up b)do horrible jobs while being as snarky as humanly possible, or c)fish for crabs.

In retorpsect I find something horribly wrong with the expression "fish for crabs" maybe I need to get my mind out of the gutter...

Did Jeff Parker write this? We need tags on this entry! Because Goom sounds like a warm up for Parker's version of Ego.

Oh, oh my God. I had always known this book(/line as a whole) was pretty cool, but never bothered with more than the random issue I bought last year (plus, y'know, posts here). But now I really need to check it out.

I love how Cap looks mildly apologetic and conciliatory in that panel, even though he's basically chewing Johnny out. 'Errm,,, bad news, I'm afraid, son. See, due to your, well, meddling, the Earth has lost a valuable and irreplaceable asset - we assume irreplaceable, anyway - and, yes, it's all your fault. Sorry. But hey, it's not THAT bad! Maybe one day you'll do something EVEN WORSE, and then this will seem like nothing! Buck up, soldier!'
