Log | Adrian & Wren; the woods
Who: Adrian & Wren
What: Wrenning about
Where: The woods
When: Early evening
Warnings/Rating: TBD
The sun was still keeping the woods lit, but between the height of the trees and how low the sun was resting in the sky it cast long shadows and long rays of light through the trees both. The place glowed gold and sparkled with particles and bugs rising from the grass, birds taking advantage and diving between the trees.
Wren loved the woods at this time of day, which is why he could be drawn back to them from the town, unless he was kept there by the lure of food or companionship or something sparkly that caught his interest. He moved through the the long grass that brushed as tall as his chest here where no grounds maintenance equipment came to cut it down, his bare legs caressed by the cool dampness still trapped around the roots. He was only dressed in a tshirt that was large enough to hang to his elbows at the sleeves and to mid-thigh at the leg, all he needed in the mild air, long since used to bug bites, scratches, abrasions and bruises that came with running around in the woods like a wild thing, his feet torn open and scuffed into roughness through hard use and lack of shoes.
He plucked the tufted ends from the tallest lengths of grass and snacked on them as he meandered, the path he made behind him obvious in the grass. This was dinner for him tonight, handfuls of grass and seed heads and anything else he decided was edible; there was a reason he was so thin, although some of his stringyness was now stringy muscle since he'd 'left' the lab.
It was a poor and uncomfortable life but Wren didn't know any better most of the time, and when he could remember the past without being trapped in it he felt he was better off now, free. He looked up as a crow flew overhead, his eye glitching, making him shake his head and rub at his face unhappily.
When he looked up next he was startled to see a figure by the tree line watching him; that didn't stop him from holding out some of his handful of grass in an offer to share.
