Job Hunting
Characters: Deadpool, Nick Fury
Setting: SHIELD Headquarters
Content: Deadpool. Language is probably assumed, and explosions are always a risk.
Summary: Deadpool needs a new job.
Deadpool was out of a job, which was an unfortunate position for a mercenary to be in, especially a mercenary who had recently sent himself a few tens of thousands into debt after a recent pleasure-jaunt to Vegas (but oh, was it ever worth it). Most of his regular sources for employment were not speaking to him (and by not speaking to him we of course mean that their security staff had been explicitly ordered to shoot him on sight, repeatedly, until there was nothing left to shoot).
What was a recently re-reformed super hero to do? Why, don a stylish bow-tie over his regular suit, and carry a briefcase. (Deadpool did not own a briefcase, so he was obliged to borrow one from an accommodating businessperson en route. The fashionable green and yellow polka-dot bow-tie was a part of his permanent wardrobe, which was convenient. Deadpool thought it complimented his red and black uniform splendidly. It did not occur to him that he should not be carrying his usual arsenal in to a job interview. These were the tools of his trade, why would anyone object?) There were any variety of do-gooder superhero organizations around the world, and less than half of them had blacklisted him, so he was still in good standing and completely employable.
And so, fully armed and masked, wearing a charming polka-dot bow tie and carrying an expensive new briefcase, Deadpool strolled in the front doors of SHIELD headquarters in New York and politely asked the receptionist to direct him to the director of employment. By which we mean, of course, that he said:
"Heya, gorgeous. Take me to your leader."
