This was lovely indeed. Poor Severus, so convinced that the good is an anomaly, and Remus's determination to be his own man. Romantic without sap, and delightfully well-paced. Thanks, Mystery Author! [info]snapetoy is a lucky one. :)

What a nice Snupin love story. Good slow build! I can definitely see Snape as the sort of self-disciplined character who would try to develop a responsible work routine in the afterlife, and your Remus characterization makes sense to me, too.

This is such a lovely, involved story. The description you write makes it difficult to look up from the print because it's jarring to find oneself not inside the world you've created here. Incredible and moving and perfect. Just perfect.

That was sweet without being shmaltzy, and I loved it. Poor Severus, hurting himself first before others do, even in death. Yay! for Remus embracing the animal side of his nature and accepting it and his own guilt over his death. Yay! for Severus accepting his sexual side and needs after so long and letting go of his own guilt. Yay! for the two of them choosing each other. Beautifully told story I'll be rec'ing. :)

Wonderful story, with Remus and Severus both learning things about themselves. Lovely descriptions too.

This was a story that drew me in and wouldn't let go until I'd finished it. A wonderful IC Snupin, full of detail. Sentimental, but not sappy. Thank you for sharing it.

This was amazingly well done. I really enjoyed so much about this fic. I always find it interesting to see what people write about the afterlife. You handled this really well. The development of the relationship was spot on. I'm so glad to see that it was posted.

That was just wonderful! Right of the bat, let me just say that I could read that sex scene over and over again. (All right, I did re-read it several times, and I'm sure I will again.) Actually, all the sex scenes. *happy sigh*

You've done such a great job with characterization, and I think these two lines are the perfect examples:

Snape: The fact that he was dead was no excuse to become idle and undisciplined...

Lupin: "Tea in the afterlife," Lupin remarked. "This must be the Englishman's heaven."

I loved watching the slow process of Severus being sort of 'tenderized' by his time alone and his exposure to Lupin. Another excellent example of characterization; these things sort of have to creep up on Severus before he knows he wants them. This is all over a great story, and your giftee is a lucky girl! :-D Marvelous!

Damn you, Mystery Author. You've made me care for this pairing and these 2 men far more than I'd ever wanted to. It was really moving and beautifully written. I think the slow passage of time and Snape's slowly growing mad is one of the funniest and most poignant things I've read in a long time.

Ha. Everyone notices how sweet this is - because, it is! But I will point out ... with emphasis ... that it's also damn sexy! Once these two get between the sheets, they're hot hot hot hot hot. Of course, even then *snerk* Severus works to convince himself that Lupin can't want him, it can't be that they like each other or anything. >>snort<< No wonder Severus has been there for thirty hundred jillion days, trapped in the close-grown forest of his fears.

Thank goodness -- and you, dear author -- for Lupin!

Mystery Author, thank you! You've created such a carefully-crafted, intricately detailed and fully realised world within this fic and it's beautiful.

First of all, having this take place in the afterlife is A Magnificent Idea. Not only do we get canon compliance but it's the perfect place to unpack Snape. It's safe; after all, he's already dead and nothing worse can happen to him and it's the perfect setting, at Spinner's End where it all started, for him to come to terms with himself.

What a fantastic character study of Snape and Lupin this is! Snape's calendar keeping and his determination to produce a rationality of his afterlife; the broken railing on the stair that reveals so much within a single phrase; his meticulous record-keeping and his realisation that he has no one to share his research results with reveals so much of him. That deep-seated need for public recognition in combination with his lifetime's distrust of other's opinions is one of the marvellous contradictions of his character. I really appreciate that this isn't overwritten; that you trust the reader to go with Snape as he comes back to his research.

I love the slow unpacking and exploration of Snape's sexuality; the freedom that he can find with Lupin to do that. That budding awareness and long build-up is just so hot; Snape can't wank often enough for me. :D Fabulously hot sex that's made all the better for waiting!

Do you know, though, it's that theme, that we are self-creating and that we do that within a physical and social environment, that I think will stay with me most. This fic is a wonderful illustration of Snape and Lupin learning to rebuild who they are, exploring themselves and each other and creating a greater-than-the-sum-of-its-part moreness together.

Secret Santa, I couldn't be more grateful. I'm going to treasure this fic, and I'll be reading it again and again until I'm familiar with every nuance and beat within it. Thank you.

Marvelous work. The part where Lupin describes exactly how he died made me catch my breath - I don't think I've seen it anywhere else, and yet it makes so much sense. Wow.

This was really skillfully woven and crafted and the characterizations were superb. Loved Snape's obsessive calendar keeping, his research and his final unbending to the point of letting Lupin work with him, live with him, and sleep with him. Excellent job and very sexy!

I'm finally getting a chance to start reading, and how lucky I am to have started with this story. Beautiful (believable) characterizations, creative and original storytelling, and a growing love that's both tender and hot at the same time. Really excellent...I'll definitely be adding this to my recs page after the reveal.

I enjoyed reading this a lot. Thank you for allowing Snape and Lupin's lives to "continue" in the afterlife, giving them what they wanted while forcing them, in an environment of no other outside stress, to face their own weaknesses in each other's company. Both characters are so very much themselves, yet they're free now, Snape from his Masters and Lupin from the moon. What a beautiful story!

Wow - there have been some really good Snupin stories this holiday, and this is no exception. There are a lot of great elements to this story, but the one thing that drew me in and kept me there was the tight, believable balance of romance throughout. It never crosses the schmoopy line, and that's very important to me as a sometime Snupin reader. Good solid characterisations and interesting complexities. Well done!

I'm a total sucker for really well written afterlife fic, especially when it's treated as a slightly altered continuation of the characters' regular lives and this story just nails it. I've always thought that if Snape and Lupin ever had a good chance with each other, it would have to be after the War when they had time to work through their many unresolved issues and emotional grudges.

That scene in bed on their final night there was just, guh. They way Severus let go of his urgency and allowed Lupin to draw out the moment for once because he believed it would be their last time just gutted me.

Goregeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

I love the concept of this fic. Spinner's End, the looped forest, Severus forced to confront himself and then, suddenly, Lupin. I appreciated the fact that you followed DH canon, yet still got them together in a way that made sense without being offensive to anyone who cared for Tonks.
Great read!

Yay! Absolutely fabulous ... brilliant concept and characterization! I loved the afterlife "the size of a shrivelfig" and the way they finally came together just perfectly and realized what they needed to move on! Wonderful!
