It's been worrying at me since Mal left. This isn't how it's meant to be. He doesn't leave me. Mal never leaves me. He comes and retrieves me from places where I'm perfectly safe to put me in the middle of a war even when he wishes I were somewhere else. He denies that he wants me around while making it impossible for me to leave. He wouldn't leave me in prison. Ever.
[She sounds incredibly affronted and offended by the whole idea of Mal leaving her.]
I got him out of scrape with the law more than once and yes I slapped him and yes it was fun, but it was necessary to sell the scenario. One would hardly believe I'd allow my man servant to escape with another woman and not punish him in some way.
It's ridiculous that Sentience has allowed things to progress in a manner that is so inconsistent with previous behaviors.
[And there's the sound of something shattering against the wall. The next is said in a very quiet voice, almost a whisper]
I miss him.
