[Open Action] Sliiiiightly back dated to noonish
[In Jeanne's absence, Inara has taken over responsibility for the scheduled spa day. She's made over the public baths in an attempt to give it a tropical theme. There's fruit on tables, a sort of fruity punch. She's got some fake palm trees set up and there's a mix of 'tropical' music that includes some Bob Marley playing.

There are stations for pedicures, manicures, massages, soaking baths, facials, body wraps and the like. Inara will be happy to give massages upon request. Mingle, relax and enjoy the spa day.]

[ Dressed in a simple robe and her braids pinned up, Kohran steps out of the main bath area for a bit to fetch some food until she spots a familiar head of blond hair. ]

While I was caught up in protocol and rules, Judith's guild was able to go help the people I couldn't, and do the things that I couldn't. They actually saved the world, as bizarre as that sounds. [smiling a little himself. he pauses for a second before saying] Terca Lumireis has been excavating and repurposing ancient machines called "blastia" for some time now. We didn't fully understand them, or even why or how they had been lost, and we didn't have the technology to create them from scratch, but we could repair them well enough, and our best researchers were dedicated to it. Blastia quickly became a necessity -- armies were outfitted with blastia that increased their physical abilities and allowed them to use special attacks, barrier blastia formed protective shields around our major cities that prevented monsters from getting in... We used them to provide water and light and heat.

But -- it turned out that their energy usage was dangerous. The more we used, the more of an aer imbalance we created. And when the imbalance was great enough... a being called the Adephagos reacted to it.

[ Kohran listens carefully to Flynn's story -- at first amazed by the existence of ancient machines and as to how helpful they can be. It almost sounded like a dream come true until Flynn came to the downside of the story. While the jargon still escapes her, the negative effect of any kind of imbalance caused by outside influence is something she understands... ]

I'm not really sure. It's some -- immensely powerful creature that comes from beyond our world, and it feeds off aer, which the blastia use to operate. The increased usage of blastia caught its attention, and it could have turned consumed all life on the planet. It was -- vast. Stretching across the entire sky. [a little quiet from the memories. those tendrils, discoloring the entire world, everything, everywhere...]

But someone came up with a way to reduce our dependency on aer and destroy the blastia for good. And Judith was one of the people who enacted that plan and ended the threat.

That sounds terrible, Flynn... [ It reminds her of how the dark energy of the Hive threatened to envelop the Capital and her world too. ] I find it a little strange though that no one left word as to how the blastia could be dangerous, even if they are hidden.

Is that what they did? [ Worry turns a small smile, tone sober. ] That's great! It's too bad though that using blastia turned out to be a bad thing... so what do you use now? Now that you can't use blastia anymore?

[ This somewhat reminded her of what Ms Tayber had warned her about -- how the excessive use and manufacture of machines can have bad repercussions. ]

	We no longer use aer at all. We use something called "mana", which is a more natural source of energy, I believe. I had to relearn my magic spells, and our mages are working on how to use mana to replace the tools we lost. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
