Three months worth of ledgers had been about as extensive had Siana had expected but too long all the same, but at least they had a list of names. Some were flagged by the metalworkers themselves as suspicious, quirky, and odd, and it was difficult to tell sometimes if they were meant to throw off the scent or if there was merit to the finger-pointing. Nonetheless, Siana and Monaco had spent the better part of the week carefully examining the lists to determine who, exactly, could be eliminated, and who, exactly, needed to be flagged.
What made things more difficult was that cross-referencing to the clientele lists at the Emerald and Sapphire Houses proved to be in vain. There was no match anywhere to be found. Of course, not all men -- or women, even -- used their actual names when they visited a brothel, but Siana wasn't ready to credit the perpetrator as that clever quite yet. But looking at what each customer had bought from the metalworkers was the biggest key, and soon they had it down to five names.
It was five names clearer than anything they had before. They made more inquiries to the metalworkers, to possible witnesses -- those in the Red Light District and regulars around the metalworkers' shops, until finally, only one name was left remaining: Fiore Conti.
And so Siana sent Peony a message, and with Monaco in tow, they made their way to his address. As they approached, however, a funny feeling tingled down Siana's spine; something was wrong, and she would not risk letting this man escape. The door was locked; they would have to force themselves in. Then so be it.
