Rules & FAQ

Rules - Updated: 11/17/2013

Characters:
- The character limit is six characters.
- Remain Close To Character As Possible. In general, no one will leap down your throat in this community, unless your version of the character is wildly off.
- Nobody is perfect; as such there will be no Mary-Sues/Gary-Sues. (Which falls back on remaining in character.) Everyone has got something that they do not like about themselves and/or some kind of fear.
- For PBs (Played By) please choose wisely. The PBs should look close to the age that the character is. The Mods have the right to deny any PBs that a player chooses to use.
- No original character is to be related to any adapted canon character unless given permission from the Player of the adapted canon character or is a wanted character. This means if you want to be related to a certain adapted canon character that isn't taken you will need to wait for that canon character to be taken and then ask the Player.
- No Real People. This means you can't adapt a real person to fit into the game. It has to be an original character or a character from some sort of media.
- If your character has different hair/eye color then the normal human colors it has to come from a bottle or contacts. No funky colors being natural.
- Due to IJ's friend code rule, you may recycle previous character journals so long as they are not connected to any game but this.

Posting:
- Posting in the main role playing community will be in third person past tense.
- If posting a picture please keep the width under 500px. If wider please put it under an lj-cut.
- Logic. This may be a fantasy setting, but certain aspects of real life should be kept intact.
- Strikeouts. Strikeouts work the same as if you cross something out with a pen. Strikeouts that isn't bold is legible. Bolded Strikeouts are not legible.
- We are playing for every two weeks in real time one week passes in the game. To help keep track of the week please check out the Calendar.
- Remain active. Inactivity without notice or reason is bad.
(Ways to be active: making personal posts, role play in threads, posting AIM logs or commenting in other personal journals.)
- The mods will play it by ear about inactive characters as our goal is to keep the game running and have many happy active players.
- Do not invite yourself in on current threads unless it is marked open to all. If a posted thread doesn’t directly involve your character, or it does not say Open, you do NOT post in it. Unless the Players in the thread decide they want you in then feel free to join.
- No God-Modding. If you must move a character or make them say something please ask the Player first.
- Proper role playing is good grammar, full sentences, and paragraphs. No short hand/net speak when role playing. Net speak is not accepted in personal posts either. Also try to stay away from one liners if at all possible. The more you write the easier it is for people to respond to your post but also don’t go nuts and write a book for one post. ^^
- Role playing threads will be built like this:

Who:
Where:
When:
Why: (not a must)
Warning: (A MUST. Have some type of warning on all threads to give others warnings.)
<lj-cut text="witty sentence here">
First character's post.
</lj-cut>

- A personal post (journal post) can be open to all, blocked from all, blocked from certain people, or some parts of the post can be blocked from all or certain people. Also can be under a cut, doesn't matter.
- Masters are able to see what their slaves have written as they have control over their slave’s journal.
- Every personal post needs the Week, Day of the Week, and Time of Day somewhere on the post.
- The journals that everyone will make personal posts in are a new electronic program on computers, phones, etc. All Masters would have one and giving a slave an electronic journal would be seen as a reward or setting them as part of the Master's household.

OOC:
- No OOC Drama. You will be kicked out if you are the cause of OOC drama. OOC drama kills communities and we do not want that to happen.
- To elaborate on 'drama' that can be caused in OOC; we mean do not cause fights that exceed what would normally be called a discussion. Discussions of one's feelings are fine for OOC threads, however if one recognizes that they are no longer having a civilized conversation we, as mods, hope that our players will be humane enough to calmly back down from what is going on.
- If the situation turns into something that you, as a player, believe is entirely uncalled for and you cannot make a comment in reply without the ability to remain calm and feel that something could become troublesome to the community if you do reply, then we ask that you bring the problem to the mod for help.
- We want to let everybody know that harassment of any kind between role players is not acceptable in any circumstance and won't be tolerated by the mods here. We'd also like to ask you to report any such harassment to the mods for two reasons: First, so we can remove the offender from the game if the harassment is severe enough, and second, so we simply know what's going on and can be informed when dealing with any resulting drama.
- On the same note, if you have a problem with another role player that you can't easily resolve, do anything BUT drag it into the community. If the problem has to do with characters and actions within the community, then take it to the mod so it can be addressed properly. If it's an OOC problem that you just can't keep out of the community, you can feel free to take that to the mods as well and we'll try to address it in way that's not harmful to the community. Also, if you're having a heated argument and know you should walk away from it, but can't, talking to the mods and being told to stay away will give you a good excuse.
- Also, if you feel that there is a problem between players, discuss it between yourselves (if you do not first wish to notify a mod). If that solves nothing, you can then bring it to the mods (with logs if you wish so that it make be clarified) so that the proper actions can be taken to ensure it stops.
- All things OOC go in the OOC community.
(ie: Telling us you will be away so you don't get a warning for not being active, posting something funny, icons, fan fics, or fan art that you think the others will enjoy.)

Community:
- Everyone, regardless of gender or sexuality, is accepted in this community, for both characters and players
- Sex, drugs, and all things alike are permitted in this game.
- Storylines. If you have ideas for the overall storyline, THAT'S GREAT! You need to consult with one of the mods first, though, either through the OOC, AIM, or e-mail. No one wants to have their toes stepped on, and this will give everyone time to be filled in, even if it is an excellent idea, will get everyone in the community involved, and will really shake things up.
- Characters need to have character journals for this role play.
- Try to learn the names of your fellow players. A happy community is one that knows who’s in it. If you’re unsure of who plays a character you’d like to interact with, check the Characters List or ask the mods.
- You get one warning from the mods on your first offense and the second one you are out. No ifs, ands, or buts. There are no favorites with the mods no matter how hard you try to butter them up.
- Last and most important: The Mods' word is final.

FAQ - Updated: 11/17/2013

Q: Can I hold a character?
A: Yes you can. Up to 7 days. A list of taken PBs and holds are right here.

Q: What happens after I’ve been accepted?
A: Once you’ve been accepted, create a journal for your character. You should remember to put a disclaimer on your profile stating that your character has no affiliation with any of the shows and your character’s PB. There will be a friending button provided for easy adding. Also make sure to join [info]childofeden_rp and [info]childofeden_ooc.

Q: Once a part of the game, how do I get to know the other players?
A: Make an introduction post in the OOC community. We also encourage players to interact outside of the communities. We want everyone to be able to have fun in the game. Let’s make some friends!

Q: Is this game set in real time?
A: No. It is every two real life weeks for one game week. The mods will post reminders in the OOC community when the change in the week is coming up.

Q: Where is the game located?
A: The game is located in a sort of secluded valley in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. The main town it is centered on is called Crescent Hills.

Q: How do humans become slaves?
A: We will not be playing any of the human war camps (not right away), so any humans will start as a new slave up for auction/training/being sold off or have been a slave for a while now.

Q: What other locations are in the game other than Crescent Hills?
A: As of right now it is just the town of Crescent Hills and the surrounding estates. As the game grows and we expand we will no doubt bring in more places.

Q: Is there any trigger warnings for players?
A: Yes. We have made an OOC post where players can post topics that are trigger warnings to them. You can find it here.

Q: What show is this game based off of? Do I need to watch it?
A: This game is not based off of any show. It is a multi-fandom game where you can pull any characters from any show and adapt it to this game. We did rely heavily on the show Teen Wolf for the Werewolf lore, The Vampire Dairies for the Vampire and Witch lore, True Blood for the Fae lore, and Supernatural for the Demon and Angel lore. But the descriptions we have put up for those species will be all you really need to know about them. The show canon is not canon in CoE.

Q: If a werewolf had a child with a human would the child be human or werewolf?
A: Werewolf and witch blood are the dominant blood. So if they have a child with a human it would be a werewolf or a witch and not human. Vampires cannot have children.

Q: I need a code to make a journal! Where can I get one?
A: If you already have a journal on Insane Journal you can go to Code Share and make a post asking to see if others will share an extra code or two. If you are new to Insane Journal and can't find a code please make a note in your application. The Mods have a few codes that they can use and are willing to give them out to anyone that is accepted into the game. We will email you the code after we have accepted you!

Q: Does your game allow mpreg or 'cuntboys'?
As much as we want to say yes to mpreg we are going with no. It is currently not medically possible in real life plus the reason it happens in fanfiction varies too much. Maybe in the future if the mods decide how it happens exactly we will allow it.

As for the 'cuntboys' we will of course accept transgender/transsexual characters and in this case it would be a female to male who still has their woman parts.

Q: I was wondering what the 'Allegiance' and 'Scent' parts of the application form refer to?
The Allegiance is the character for the supernaturals or against them? Is your human slave a recent capture and wants to fight against the supernaturals or were they born into it and that is all they know and is for the supernaturals?

Scent is just simply what do they smell like? With people that have super smell (vampires and werewolves) it is just a little detail that couple possibly come up and we love reading what people come up with.

Q: What exactly are the 'adoption' restrictions for canon characters? Are they 'pulled' from the universe of their canon, with the same history and relationships? Or are they an idea and identity completely involved in the world of Children of Eden, whereas they are not part of a 'fandom', but part of reality?
Canon characters are not pulled from their current canon worlds. They are adapted into the CoE world like they have always lived there. So you could bring characters that are dead in the show/books/whatever and play them here.

Q: Original characters are accepted, right?
Yes, original characters are accepted.

Q: How may slaves can one master have?
Depends on the master/player and how many they think they can handle. Masters need to remember that each slave will want personal threads and plots with their master.

Q: Would it be all right to re-use a journal which has absolutely nothing to do with the character's name? Or is it better to just find a new code?
Yes, it is ok to reuse a journal. But we can also get you a code once you are accepted if you want to make a new journal.

Q: Is there a limit on which characters and fandoms may be applied for?
Nope! No limit. Any fandoms are open along with original characters. Just check the Character and Hold Pages to make sure the character or played by hasn't been taken.

Q: I'm considering applying a character that canonically has very severe scarring, and even a missing body part. When you say that scars can be healed after a person becomes a werewolf, should it be assumed that these would all be regenerated after they've changed, or are old scars this severe to someone who was previously human likely to stick around permanently?
It would be up the player. Yes they could heal and the character would be like new or the scars are so old and deep that they don't heal and the character is stuck with them. This goes for when someone is turned into a vampire.

Q: Why are you mods so cool?
A: It’s natural. We’re a couple of good-lookin’ badasses. Have you seen our guns?
