Who: Group Xi, Delta and Omega
What: Homecoming
Where: Bellum lobby / County General Hospital
When: Midnight
Warnings: Group Log - proceed with caution

Despite the difference in time and time zone, it's midnight in 1789 France, 1917 Russia and 1929 Chicago when our residents simply vanish, disappear. Their disappearances are noted and (subsequently) lost in history. They were there, but they affected no large events, no matter how they behaved.

At midnight, headaches overtake each and every tenant, and a while light glares brightly as they materialize, every last one, in the lobby of Bellum Letale. Bloody, burnt and bleeding, they arrive, but their tales are silent - every last one.

An ambulance can be heard in the distance, and it can only be assumed someone dialed 911.

[This is a party-style post. Place your location in the subject line of your threads, and feel free to move your characters to Orange County Hospital at any time during the group-log.]

Right of the Lobby

Joss had only minutes to comprehend that her dancing partner was dead and lying on her. She staggered backwards against the wall, hands pushing frantically to get him off of her. Badr was gone, where she didn’t know or didn’t care because the police had come after her clearly (and not anyone else, duh) and they had shot at him and he was dead and oh god.

She managed to shove him away and he fell towards the ground, lifeless eyes staring up at her. Her screams, unintelligible and hysterical continued as she backed up – her back meeting the wall. For the first time in her life, she didn’t want attention – she simply was scared shitless over what happened to the man whose name she didn’t know.

A hand went to her mouth, trying to silence herself but she pulled it away a moment later. Blood, she was bleeding – no it was his and it was on her, which was somehow worse-

And then the blinding light and pain hit as she crumpled to the ground. Her screaming didn’t stop when she realized she was in Bellum – she only began to wail for her sister, hands out-stretched before her.

One moment she'd been in the wine shop, supervising as Marie boiled more water, about to turn and ask Brian (who had been acting so strangely, but it must have been that his headache hadn't gone away) if he needed anything. The next, her own sudden headache and a flash of bright light made her screw her eyes tightly shut, and when she opened them again...

Sherri hadn't even had a chance to get her bearings before she heard Joss's scream and took off toward it without thinking, darting between people as well as she could in her layers of skirts. She skidded a bit past Joss, at first, then threw herself onto her knees and clutched at her little sister as tightly as she could, tightly enough that Joss probably couldn't breathe but she didn't care, she was just so glad to see her. "Oh my God, oh my God, Joss, baby, are you okay?"

Joss couldn’t keep her eyes off her hands and missed Sherri until she was hugging her. Her screaming turned into a wail as she hug her back, tightly. Her bloodstained hands were probably messing her dress, more fucked up then her flapper one, but she didn’t care because she couldn’t stop thinking about him and the gun shots and the blood and she felt something awful on her dress which couldn’t just be blood and Sherri was there and-

She buried her head into her sister’s shoulder, muffling her bawling. She didn’t care aobut how tight, because Sherri could fix things or maybe tell her she wasn’t crazy – or smack her upside the head for being an idiot. “He’s dead, I did it, I fucked up – you’re all right, I’m a moron, what have I been doing? Oh my god, Sherri, Sherri I am such an idiot-”

The mention of someone dying would have affected Sherri horribly before France, but after... she managed to stay calm enough to stroke Joss's hair, cradling her as close as she could since she seemed likely to fly completely to pieces. "Shh, shh... who's dead, Joss? What happened?" She would worry about all the rest of it after she figured that out, figured out if there was anyone at Bellum that she needed to get hold of about it.

She shook her head, not able to explain. The problem was that it wasn't just what had happened in the last few days in Chicago were affecting her - there was a sudden, horrifying awareness that she'd fucked up. Not only by that man dying, but repeatedly throughout her past. "Everything," she wailed, before squeezing Sherri again.

She must have looked terrible and was causing a scene - that was the usual, wasn't it? - but Joss didn't care. "I fucked up, I really fucked it up - really, really, oh god, Sherri." She wasn't going to be coherent any time soon, as scenes replayed in her head. From when she was little to now – every little thing to catch attention to have her own good time. They all added up and she put a stained hand to her head.

“I’m so, so sorry.”

"It's okay, it's okay." Sherri glanced around, relieved to see that most people seemed to be too focused on those who were injured to care about their little scene. Joss would probably be embarrassed about it, later, she thought. For the moment, though, all that mattered was getting Joss calmed down at least enough to be coherent, and getting her somewhere safe so she could clean up. "You're okay, you're fine."

She couldn't even begin to comprehend what Joss was apologizing for, but the fact that she was apologizing at all was shocking and a little frightening. Something really bad must have happened, but Sherri didn't want to get into that sort of thing in public. "Can you stand up, sweetie? Can you get up for me, and we'll go to my apartment, and you can have a cup of hot chocolate?" She'd always used that as a lure when Joss was little. If it didn't work, she'd figure something else out.
