Email blocked?
Due to some of the feedback I have received here I believe that some of our mail may be blocked by one of the large email provider. If you are not receiving notifications or validation emails please let me know here who your email provider is.

Also, the move is now complete, so if you are still not seeing some of your userpics, you will need to remove and re-upload them. I apologize for loosing some of them.

In addition, I want to use this space to address some concerns that were brought up about scheduling downtime. I do admit that I should have done a better job at letting everyone know when I would be on working the site. The reason I did was that there was so much work to do that I was working on the site every time I had a free moment, and I didn't know when I would have free time. Moving forward I will work to give better notifications as to when there is potential downtime.

The downtime wasn't too bad at all. I guess it bothered some people, but there are some of us who realize that you have a real job on top of this site and I think others would be wise to remember that as well.

Thank you for all the work you've done, it is more then some of us from other sites would ever expect... as sad as that is!

gmail

It seems like I'm getting notifications for replies to comments I leave on other peoples journals/in asylums, but I'm not getting notifications of comments being left on my own journal entries.

Thanks for everything squeaky!

I use gmail and last night through around 1:50am EDT, I was receiving notifications to direct replies to one of my journals. Tracking/pinning, however, was not working.

GMail, as well!

Thank you for keeping us posted and for the hard work on the site. The downtime wasn't too bad at all as far as I am aware, though.

I am not receiving e-mail, and my mail comes through my own domain, beasi.net. I stopped receiving comment notifications sometime after 1am on May 17th. Some people on my friends list are still getting theirs. I tried switching my e-mail address, but it did not help.

I have AOL and for the last 2 days I have not been getting comments notification when someone commnets on my journal or when someone comments on an entry I tagged. Through last night at least I was getting comment notifications when someone replied to a comment I made. Nothing is showing up in my spam folder from IJ.

Oh [info]squeaky THANK YOU...a little more advance notice of downtime will be greatly appreciated!

As for comment notifications. I use gmail, however, I am receiving some comments from posts made to asylums but none from my personal IJ and tracking doesn't seem to be working.

I don't think people were concerned much about being notified quicker than what you had done. We were still able to log into our journals without problem, well I was anyway, but was still getting the database unavailable error message. Which wasn't a big deal considering the fact that if you just scrolled down a bit, your message was there. Either way, I don't believe you have to worry much about anything. I highly doubt people are going to leave because of quicker notifications considering you keeping us informed with greater detail than any other journaling site that I've been on. But all in all, keep up the great work, you're doing just fine!

Get some rest and a cup of coffee and some RL on top of that, Squeaky! You're doing just fine.

Gmail too, starting from a fortnight or so back - not all comments get eaten, but every now and then the service does decide to go om nom nom.

Nothing is in my spam/screened box either, and for some reason I can't get e-mail from another LJ clone right now either. When I switched to Gmail, it worked. Crazy!

I think you did an amazing job. People have to realize that journal maintainers do have things do to other than maintain a journal site, so kudos on a job well done. You still do a better job in keeping us updated on things than GreatestJournal ever did. At least you care. :)

The downtime was a tiny hiccup in the grand scheme of things. Most of us realize you have another job other than just sitting around maintaining IJ and we appreciate all the notifications you give us.

For my part I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to work on the site after having put in your 8+ hours already at your other job. I prefer unscheduled downtime rather than have the problem continue. You also keep us up to date on Twitter.

If the "other" site had done even a fraction of what you're doing I would've never discovered IJ :)

You are doing a fantastic job, Squeaky. I can only imagine all the headaches with the growing pains and am surprised that you have time to breathe, let alone time to offer us a "Hey I'm working on the site, it'll be down for a while." So, thank you for the notifications that you have been giving us. Love the site and everything you've done!

I have Yahoo and I am getting a few of my notifications. The ones from some asylums but not my personal journal. I don't know if that makes a difference because they are in different batches, lots or what have you, but I'd thought I'd let you know the distinction.

Some people just need to realize the world doesn't revolve them. You're doing the best that you can do and from what I've seen it has been a marvelous job. And it is muchly appreciated by the mass majority of us. Keep on keepin' on good sir!

:waves the Gmail flag: I am not getting comment notifications for direct replies to anything in my journal (entries or replies to comments) or for replies to comments I make in other peoples' journals. This started sometime Friday nightish. Thanks for looking into this!

Also yay for notification of downtime. For me it doesn't matter quite so much except if I try to get to anything and can't, but I know friends who post from work and they compose in the web interface. If they're stuck on a browser that doesn't remember the text field...they go to post, get the error for the database being down, and lose the post entirely. They've started composing somewhere else, after this happening a few times, but it's just something that could be avoided with a little advance notification. Also, it's confusing to get an error and not know whether it's something new that should be reported to support, or whether things are just being worked on. So yes, advance notice, even just a quick line, would be awesome.
