"Keep this on her. If he breaths wrong? Kill her and get out of here." No nonsense. No bluffing. If Belikov tried anything, his Inna would survive and she would not let him die in vain. He'd also be directly responsible for the death of his baby sister.
"Nyet," Viktoria whispered brokenly as the gun exchanged hands and Nathan slowly crossed the room. Each time he took was purposeful. Glass crunching beneath his boots as he kept his gaze on Beliov. He stopped in front of him before punching him in the gut. Dimitri took it like it was nothing, but his sister let tears fall silently. Nathan could smell it in the air. Salt and anguish. Fear and regret.
Yanking the other man's duster and shirt sleeve up, he paused just before the elbow. "Can't have it obvious you did this. People will draw conclusions and put their noses where they don't belong." Jerking the arm up, he bit down harshly and began to drink. Immediately he could tell there was a difference. It wasn't the worst he had ever drank, but it was hardly the delicious power filled blood he had feasted on in the cave. Viktoria kept begging for him to stop, and that made up for the change in taste. Let Dimitri try to wash this memory out of his mind. He could file it away with all the others who begged him not to kill them when he was Strigoi.
Still, he took his fill, knowing the endorphin high would put Belikov off his game. His eyes would be glazed and he'd feel good. Just like his sister often did.
When he was done, he yanked the shirt and duster sleeves back down before grabbing hold of Belikov's chin. "I don't know what that Dragomir bitch did to you when she changed you back, but it made your blood less than pleasing. Do not try my patience, Dimitri. You can talk to Viktoria in two days time. That will be your last contact until you give me what I want."
He patted his cheek lightly. "Fail to give me what I want? And I try my own experiment with your sister's blood."
Shoving him back hard, he moved carefully back to where the girls were. "Take a seat on the floor. You're going to stay there for fifteen minutes after we leave. One move? A single doubt that you have disobeyed, and Viktoria will pay for it. Not with death, but there are worse than than death." To make his point, he backhanded the girl hard enough to make her cower toward Inna. "Ladies first."
