Who: Katherine and Shannon
What: They accidentally unleash a dreamwalker on themselves
When: Tonight
Where: The Lighthouse
Warnings: Katherine's subconscious probably needs a warning label
Katherine wasn't really sure what she was doing out again. This had happened to her quite a few times since those idiot kids were out in the woods and activated the creepy murder tree. Katherine might have secretly been a Traveler but she didn't know anything about the gypsies and if anyone had told her about her magical roots she would have laughed at them. However, the Nemeton made no discrimination and it appealed to those roots that Katherine wasn't even aware of. It caused her to leave the swanky luxury of her estate in Everett and wander along it's forests and shores and even to the disgusting projects.
The Vampire Madame had no idea why she was drawn away from her home on such a regular basis for these walkabouts although she was old enough to know that nothing ever happened without reason. She was old enough to tell the difference between compulsion and desire. Most mortals weren't self aware enough to know the difference but Katherine was. She had been alive for five hundreds years and it wasn't by being stupid. Katherine was a cunning survivor and always would be. Everett was difficult for her because this was the longest Katherine had ever stayed in one place since her upbringing in Bulgaria. It was strange to not be running away from Klaus, to actually see him in passing and even smile a bit at him. Some part of her kept expecting him to pounce on her, lock her up and torture her for the next five hundred years but little by little she relaxed into her life with Elijah at the brothel.
Or, she should say she should be relaxing into her life with Elijah at the brothel. Instead she found herself on these pointless walks as if some part of her was compelled to check in on Everett and see what was happening. Katherine didn't do dirty work. That was what lackeys were for. She had a whole staff of bitches who could go on pointless walks and report back to her about what was happening in Everett. She had a whole bunch of minions to do her stabbing and slabbing for her so why the hell was she out in the freezing cold, ruining a perfectly good pair of designer boots in sloshy mud? Katherine could not answer that question and so the compulsion, the urge to keep moving forward drove her on despite her ruined pair of boots.
She stopped as the woods cleared and she realized she was standing on the shore. Her ruined slushy boots sank into the sand and she frowned down at them. Nothing to be done about them now except see if Abigail could get the stains out later on. For now she just kept walking forward. Somehow she knew now why she had come. She was here for the lighthouse. It took her a little while to find the door but once she was inside, she adjusted to the darkness. Her vampire eyesight allowed her to see in the dark and the bottom of the lighthouse was very dark. She began to ascend towards the tower where the light would come in and she could enjoy the view for a little before going home. She still didn't know why she had been drawn her and as of now she officially didn't care.
When she heard the door open downstairs, she tucked herself into the shadows. Instantly her senses were on fire. There was a predator in the building, Katherine just wasn't sure what it was. She didn't have much experience with slayers outside of her brief exchanges with Stefan's pet who liked Katherine about as much as Katherine liked her. She didn't recognize the feeling and years of running had her trained to stay quiet and in the shadows until she could slink out of the lighthouse and back to her den of sin.
