Who: Derek and Christina
What: Derek and Christina find Everett completely deserted
When: Tomorrow, around noon.
Where: First the prison, then away from Everett. Then ghost town!Everett.
Warnings: Probably
Notes: Set for Friday. The vision of Kate that lures him away is only visible to Derek, since it's a trick to pull him away from the prison. It's not Kate, at all. Oh, and. Derek's going to disappear from the prison for the majority of the day, at the very least. Sorry, BH pack :x If you want your muses to notice on Friday that he's gone, feel free <3
Daily patrols around the prison were a normal thing for Derek at this point. There were always people in the sentry towers, and he didn't doubt their abilities to keep the prison safe, but his need to constantly be on the lookout went beyond that. So far beyond that. If anyone other than his pack asked why he was constantly outside, he'd claim it was because staying too much indoors made him antsy. And it wasn't a lie, really, but it wasn't the whole truth either. Only his pack knew that Derek's reason for constantly be on alert was because of Kate fucking Argent. To this day he wasn't afraid of what she could do to him directly, but his pack? The people he cared about? He was beyond concerned at what she could do to them. His burnt down house in Beacon Hills was proof of it. His mother, his sisters, his uncle, all the relatives he lost in that fire - they were proof of the lengths that Kate would go to in order to prove a point, and he refused to let her do it again. Allison had insisted that she'd stop her herself if it came down to that, but Derek didn't trust her. Hell, he was still avoiding Scott. Derek was focusing on his pack and keeping them safe, and patrolling around the prison was the only thing that was keeping him sane on days that he felt his anxiety getting ahold of him.
Today it was one of those days. Being in the office that he used to plan out the schedule for the raiders had quickly proved to be a mistake the second he walked in that morning, and so he had spent the majority of the morning already outdoors. There was nothing out of the ordinary as far as he could see, but he still kept his eyes peeled and his body ready to leap into action in any given second. Ever since his conversation with Lorne he had been able to sleep at least twice for an entire night, but even as sleep deprived as he had been lately, he was still in full alert. The paranoia and anxiety running through his veins made it easy.
It was the combination of the two that didn't even let him second guess the sight that suddenly caught his attention. At a distance he could see Kate, trying to hide behind the line of trees leading into the wilderness. She had a rifle in her hands, and he could see her just watching the prison, as if waiting for a good moment to strike. His temper immediately flared, the ever protective alpha immediately reacting at the sight of a threat, and he climbed the back fence with ease. Before he knew it his feet were already on the ground and running towards her, but Kate had already spotted him. At first she just smirked, so damn pleased at herself like always, but that didn't stop him even if it should have been a hint that maybe this was some sort of trap. It didn't matter, though. He had to stop her, and he just ran faster as his eyes began glowing a bright red while she began to run. For a second there were flashbacks that threw him off and slowed his pace, the sight of Dick Roman disguised as Isaac which had lead him to getting tortured for a week, but even then he didn't stop. He just kept running, following the scent that was suddenly so familiar that it made his skin crawl. Other flashbacks hit him then, the memory of Kate when they had been sneaking around so many years ago getting mingled with memories of his time spent in the torture chamber last year, but Derek's anger overpowered them all. Even if it hadn't, the sound of Kate taunting him as they kept running through the woods always managed to break through. Her voice, her laugh. They kept echoing in his ears, and he growled loudly in anger as he tried to regain the speed he kept losing whenever a new flashback would take over.
As quickly as she had appeared, though, she was suddenly gone. It was until then that Derek noticed he was on some road, that Everett was far behind him, but he couldn't bring himself to care as he tried to track down her scent. He strained to hear her taunts, or her laugh, or even her heartbeat, but he couldn't. She was just gone.
"Kate? Come on already, I KNOW YOU'RE THERE." His voice roared loud enough for birds to scatter from a tree, but there were no signs of Kate anywhere. What the hell? How could she just disappear?
Just as he heard footsteps walking up towards him, he felt a twinge of pain on his side but he ignored it as a blonde walked towards him. He had already known it wasn't Kate, her scent was entirely different, but he still couldn't hide the frustration he felt when he realized that the bitch had gotten away. Goddamn it.
"Sorry," he grumbled an apology, his eyes shifting back to the usual green as he adjusted his jacket. "I was just looking for someone."
