meredith fell is a cheater with good intentions. (icheat) wrote in zombieslogs,
At Julie's statement, the brunette couldn't help, but start smiling and even laugh. Her laugh sounded so unfamiliar to her own ears. Had it really been so long since she was happy? Since she laughed? In that moment, sipping her tea, across from Julie, she really couldn't remember the last time she had laughed or really felt able to relax. Being on the run, making your home in the woods, surrounded by potental death everywhere, really took the humor out of everything. Watching people die, people you came to know, did that too. Even here, the conditions were nothing to laugh about or even be amused, but for second, being with Julie, had reminded her of getting coffee with friends and merely talking. It was business, but there was a bit of personality and friendliness too. Meredith liked it.
"It is," she replied, a bit of the smile still lingered on her lips before it disappeared completely behind her steaming tea cup. "But I don't know what else we could possibly use as a bargaining chip. Vampires only really want for one thing. Only need one thing." She took a sip of tea. Without blood, everything else that made a vampire powerful was weakened and even useless. Besides, in order to get vampire blood, a vampire had to continue to feed. As long as the vampire didn't take more than she could handle, Meredith figured she'd be okay. The whole point was to protect her patients from having to suffer more just to be healed. If she took the hit, they would have one less thing to worry about and fear. As much as wished all vampires were like Stefan and even Damon, the doctor knew so much better and she knew Julie did too. She might not have even gotten to know a vampire like Stefan; ones like him were few and far between.
Though, Julie made a vaild point too. If she died, there would be no one to give the medical care they needed at the clinic. "I agree," she nodded and slid the nearly empty tea cup back on the desk between them. "If I'm dead or you're dead, there is no one to help or keep the clinic up." As much as people wanted to help, she didn't know how many of them would want sole responsibility for something so risky and a definite gamble. More than anything, Meredith wanted this clinic to succeed because the people here really needed some place safe and trustworthy to turn to. It was there best chance and Meredith didn't want to throw that away or let it slip away. "I'd be okay with another vampire spotting me, in case something happens."
