One eyebrow went up. Then Selene sighed, turned, and walked over to the bar, where she poured herself a tall glass of her usual vodka and slammed it without a word.
She set her empty glass on the bar and then turned back to face Faith. "So, not paying attention again? Check the message I sent you. Something about if they do die? You know, dead and gone? Ready to push up daisies? Then is when I said you should try some of my blood as a last resort. Give them one more chance?"
Selene shook her head. "And give them another chance at being alive? Is that so bad? Alive. I'm not some walking dead thing with no heartbeat like the other lines around here. I never died to become a vampire. Frost sort of died, but I was able to bring her back. And she was gone, soul out of her body, looking down on it, when I did. Is that a wrong thing? Should no one else have a similar choice?"
She reached up with one hand to her neck and partly unzipped her top. Pulling it open wider, she displayed the small silver cross on a finely wrought silver chain. "I put this on the other night when I crashed your Hallowe'en party dressed as a slayer. It reminded me of my childhood so I left it on. You hate vampires. I get that. But my line is not like the others."
