"I'm not sick if that's what you're worried about," Faith said. Adrian had checked her aura, she had been down in the infirmary getting checked out. Nope. Faith didn't need a virus to feel rage. It was already inside her just dying for an outlet. Most days she was able to keep it carefully contained. Her conversation with Julia had been an exorcise of self control. She had the feeling that this conversation would also test her, just in a different way.
"Mad at you now?" Faith asked, arching an eyebrow in the vampire's direction. "I've been nothing but nice to you. Helped you out whenever you needed it. We've always been allies, Selene. So don't act like I come poppin' around your cabin all the time with some beef. Because I don't."
She walked over to the bar but didn't actually touch any of the liquor there. For once, Faith wasn't in the mood to drink. Although she was certain by the time she reached the prison she would feel differently about that. Hell, maybe Dante even had some booze in a flask she could steal a sip from on the way back. She was just glad that he was staying outside for now. This was between her and Selene.
"But you push me." Faith shook her dark head. "You're always pushing me. I try and ignore it cause you helped us out more than once and I honestly believe you when you say you want to do the right thing. But here's the problem, I think you've been a vampire so long you don't know what the right thing is anymore."
She put one hand on her hip, the other steadied on the bar as she observed Selene cautiously, like a slayer would. She didn't think this conversation would come to blows because Selene was so calm by nature. Faith was not but it took two to tango.
"What the hell are you thinking? Telling me that I gotta give all these sick people your blood and turn 'em into vamps? Or else it's my bad if they die? When are you gonna get it? Your army of vamps isn't gonna happen. You're not helping. You are fucking preying on sick and scared people."
Faith wasn't dead like Selene but she made it with her hands. It was what God or whoever had designed her to do. To kill, to walk in darkness. But to the people in the prison she represented humanity and hope for the future. Selene only represented death and darkness.
