Kurt was really enjoying prison life... which is something he never thought he'd hear himself thinking. Times were changed and this was no normal prison, it was safer than the camp he'd lived in before and even though his dad wasn't here with him he was managing to really be happy. First the Halloween party to plan costumes for and then the wedding to plan. Finn and Rachel showing up was just the icing on the cake of happiness in a way he couldn't put into words. How could he tell them how absolutely amazing it was to have them here with him and Santana? To have two more pieces of his worried mind faded away. It helped that Finn was family. Rachel was his best friend in the world and Santana was really starting to grow on him the closer he got...but Finn? Finn was his brother. Okay step brother. But even still he was family.
When he got the message to come and measure Rogue for a Halloween costume he couldn't keep the smile off his face. He grabbed his kit and nearly bounced down the halls towards her cell with it hugged to his chest. He really felt a song coming on. Walking on sunshine or something like that...because life could be a lot better right now but for what it was he couldn't ask for a single thing more. The urge to sing took him over and he sated it by humming 'walking on sunshine' under his breath. It was obvious to him that not all the residents of the prison loved his habit of bursting out into highly choreographed song. The response from the kitchen incident hadn't been nearly as positive or widespread as he'd wanted. He didn't even know if anyone had talked about it or noticed. What's the point in putting on an impromptu inspirational music number if no one even pays attention? If he were more like Rachel he'd be thinking about how unappreciated their talents went. But he wasn't Rachel and he was fine.
He stepped up to Rogue's cell and smiled "Hi! I'm Kurt" and he held up the kit in his hands a bit to further back-up that he was the one she had called. They hadn't really talked very much but he found that his name traveled further than it ever had in Lima. His real name, not 'the gay kid' or 'lady' or something like that. People here really knew him for his talents and were kind and understanding. What more could he ask for than that in a community?
