The moment she'd seen even a glimpse of Peter coming through the deserted town she'd let out a little yelp and ran towards him as fast as she possibly could. It had been months. Months since she'd seen the love of her life and no matter how positive Elle normally was there were times the worst crept up on her and she feared something had happened to him or Neal. She'd lost count of the letters that had been written and were safely tucked away in her bag to give to him later. She knew he'd been doing the same, so she couldn't wait to get into his mind and where he had been for the last year. Mostly, she couldn't manage to take her eyes off of him.
Satchmo wanted attention of his own from his daddy, so Elle laughed and let the big puppy get his few good licks in. Peter was simply glowing and smiling from ear to ear with happiness. Moz and Alex had hung back to give the couple some space for their reunion and finally Peter pulled himself away from his wife to greet the others. Elle knew he was happy to see both of them too and it would be good for Neal to know his friends were safe and close by. Neal. Peter filled her in on a lot of what had been happening with him recently and suffice to say Elle wasn't happy to hear he'd left Peter at the prison to worry after he'd come after him here in the first place. Of course it was all over a girl. Peter said she was a good kid, but had been hit hard with loss and Neal wanted to be there for her and make sure she didn't drown or lose herself. Elle understood that, but hoped that Neal didn't get pulled down into the dark with her.
Thankfully he didn't make her go out to find him herself but had come back to the prison. For a few days. Right. She was going to make sure he stayed right where he was for good and told him as much, scolded him almost after she'd hugged him tightly and said how good it was to see him. She'd seen Shannon around the prison but hadn't had a good chance to really talk to her yet after Neal introduced her to the new arrivals. He seemed particularly happy to see Moz and Alex, so she let him be for a while and spent some much needed time with her handsome hubby.
During most of Peter's shifts, Elle joined him up in his tower. Satchmo whined or laid on the ground outside the tower when he wasn't with Neal or Moz, but it was rare that Elle didn't climb up in the tower with him. If a shift was too late at night and Peter insisted she go to bed, she would go lay in her cell and read the letters he'd written to her instead. She was never going to be away from him for long ever again.
It was around lunchtime and Elle had a shift in the kitchen. She'd adjusted well for the most part and enjoyed her time at a stove again even without gormet supplies. Peter was in his tower and she was eating her lunch after most of the others had gone through the line. She planned to prepare him a plate once she was finished and take it to him after her shift. For now though she sat down by herself at one of the tables and ate her own lunch.
