The glance made Logan look back at her. The guilt wasn't really showing on her face, but the way he looked at her it was obvious that he was making a point: Do not go out there alone. Do not put yourself in that position. If he knew exactly what had happened, especially after what had happened to Emily so recently, his reaction would not be a good one. But she smiled, and they kept moving, so Logan let his warning be a silent one instead.
"Is anyone around here doing great nowadays?" It was a smartass question, but it didn't really come across as that; his tone was too dry for it. He gave a nod. "Yeah, kid. I know. It ain't something that anyone can really do anything for, though."
And it was true. There was nothing that either of them could do to fix or work on to make it better. Not really. But, considering Rogue's spot in Logan's life, he knew that sooner or later she would need to know what the hell had been going on with him, so he slowed his walk as he spoke. "There's a girl around your age that lives with me. Her name's Laura. Someone set out to duplicate what they had done with me years ago, and she's my clone. Kinda." Kind of in the sense that she wasn't him physically, but in every other sense, Laura was pretty much like him.
"Laura has a friend that's been hanging out with us every now and then. There was an accident when I was out hunting, and Emily got bit by one of those dead bastards."
