Laura had been trying to get into Derek's dreams for the last couple of days and there just hadn't been a way in. It was like blackness, nothing but darkness had eaten up his subconscious. Laura had never experienced that before. It wasn't like she ran around jumping into just any old dream. The dreams she entered were for a reason, if they were for her own personal entertainment. But she had never seen this before.
When she finally did get inside she was burning and without even thinking, she began to scream. It was her first instinct on feeling the flames lick her skin. If she had been in any kind of logical state of mind, she would have been happy to feel the fire flicker away at her, burn away at her hair. It would have meant she was alive, which she definitely was not. Laura might still be a sexy alpha queen but she was a dead one and there was nothing she could do about that.
She heard a thunderous voice booming that Derek was everyone's downfall. No. NO. She raced out of the burning house and tackled Derek hard to the ground. Yes! She felt triumphant. She could actually touch, she could do something useful. And right now she wasn't sure if she wanted to punch Derek in the face or give him a hug. She opted for neither at the moment, just kept him pinned to the grass. God, it was just like the real fire. The two of them standing outside, unable to do anything except watch it burn. She had held Derek back that night when they had heard their mother screaming. Talia was a strong alpha and she never screamed. Not ever. Except for that one time.
Now history was doomed to repeat itself as Laura established dominance over baby bro to help him, to save him, to keep him alive. It had been her number one mission since the night of the Hale house fire. She could hear Kate cackling somewhere in the distance but she didn't care because she had already relived this shit with Peter. It had desensitized her some.
"Derek!" she shouted as she grabbed his shirt and slammed his shoulders to the ground. "Wake up!" Her eyes flashed red. She wasn't an alpha anymore but in dreams she still was.
