Who: Toby (narrative) What: Trying to find his uncle When: now Warnings: nah
Toby was never a fan of women crying. He hated it when his mom used to do it. Really hated it when he was the reason she used to do it. Never could stand to see Emily or Spencer cry. Even when Jenna cried it got to him. Rebekah rarely cried in front of him, and Needy wasn't a crier really, but they were both close to breaking now. At least that was what he thought as he watched them struggle over not knowing where Klaus was.
He did a lot of watching. It was a gift he had in life, and one he utilized as a vampire. It was something that bonded him and Needy. They were observers of the world, and they were smarter because of it. The more you watched, the more you learned, and knowledge really was power. Need and Rebekah needed Klaus back, so Toby figured it was his responsibility to find his lost uncle.
Even if he did want to throttle the guy for making Rebekah cry with his bullshit bullying attempt to make his siblings leave. Oh, Toby knew what he was doing. He'd pulled similar stunts in the name of protecting those he loved. Didn't mean he had to like it when he was doing it any more than he liked it when he saw it being done by someone else to someone he cared about.
There were a lot of people trying to find the taken. The way that kid was killed didn't sit right with him either. If you're so big and bad, why take out a little girl? The guy would have loved Rosewood. Lots of men preying on little girls there. Now there was a dead slayer too. Not his sire's preferred slayer, but she was still a dead girl. Women and children first apparently. Toby really disliked this guy.
He crept through the wilderness purposely, watching and taking mental notes of everything he saw. Someone had to lay a trail of breadcrumbs to Klaus. Toby would find it and he'd bring him home. Then the girls would be happy again, and he could stop worrying about them. Then he could focus on finding a way to remove Roman from town. Because he wasn't going to rest easy until the man was gone and the people he cared about were safe. He'd traumatized Spencer, and that meant Toby owed him pain.
