Jill was furious that she had to see what happened to her sister through her bondmate's eyes. If she wasn't so emotional she would have realized why they were trying to protect her from what happened, but she was emotional. So full of emotion and spirit. Jill was a volcano of emotion that was ready to erupt at the slightest provocation.
There was plenty of provocation these days.
Dimitri had offered to come to her when she informed him she needed to see her sister. No matter what Jill was feeling right now, and wow was she feeling a lot, she needed to see her sister. The ghost freak had pushed her too far, and what she had seen through Adrian's eyes had made her already shattered heart break a bit more. Vera was gone, and there was no way to bring her back. Lissa was slipping away, but Jill would be damned if she lost her too.
They walked back to the prison in silence. Dimitri's jaw was set tight, his concern and anger evident, and Jill didn't want to engage in small talk. She knew he didn't want to either. When they arrived at the prison, she paused for a moment. Her jade green eyes fell to the spot that Vera had been killed and she felt her stomach lurch into her throat. Dimitri steadied her with a hand on her shoulder, and she was grateful he didn't ask her if she was alright.
They both knew she was anything but alright.
As they walked through the corridors to the infirmary, Jill kept her head down. Her long wavy light brown hair provided a shield to her face, protecting her from seeing anyone who might want to say they were sorry about Vera or asking how she was. She wanted everyone to forget she existed. She wanted them to remember Vera forever.
When they arrived, Lissa was still with the doctor, so Jill quietly waited for her to arrive. Christian, Rose and Adrian were watching her, but she didn't speak to any of them. When Lissa did appear, Jill sucked in a silent breath. Her sister looked horrible.
After the doctor excused herself, Jill found herself struck silent for a full moment before she said in a commanding tone that left no room for argument, "Leave. I need to talk to my sister alone."
At the look the group gave the sisters, Jill added a bit more force to her words, "Wait outside the door, but get out of this room."
