Alana had a lot on her mind. She was worried about Abigail and how the commotion on the network may have stirred up some old feelings for the girl who had already been through enough with her father. She was keeping an eye on her from a distance trying to gauge how to appropriately help her. Dr. Bloom always recommended talk therapy but she wondered if Abigail maybe might need some medication. And Abigail Hobbs wasn't the only one that Alana was worried about. They hadn't been kidding when they said she would have her hands full.
It was an apocalypse, she had to expect that living in these circumstances would bring out the darkness in others. Everyone was grieving and everyone went through that process a little differently. It wasn't as simple as going through five stages, there were variations depending on the person and the circumstances. She had seen a myriad of different emotions and psychoses from different people, vampires and werewolves. The psychology between species was so fascinating. Vampires were colder creatures but their emotions were amplified. Whatever they felt, they felt. When they loved, they loved with all of their soul and when they hurt they could be downright destructive on both themselves and the people around them. Werewolves tended to run a little more on the hot tempered side. They dealt with grief and adjustment through anger. They were both every bit as complicated as humans were with some slight variations.
She was also worried about Will but that was a more personal worry. She had seemed stable to him, or at least a source of stability for poor Abigail and that was important. But was he stable? When they had shared a couple beers together he looked ragged and sleep deprived. She knew that it could be simply the apocalypse wearing him down. Who was stable these days? In this time the word stable had to have a looser definition. Because nobody was stable anymore, not even Alana. The only thing she do was try to help as many people (and she used that term loosely) as she could while she could. If they were going to rebuild as a society they were going to need to find a source of stability within themselves, each and every one of them. Even if it seemed impossible. Alana had learned many things in her career but one thing she had learned after most of her colleagues had been eaten or turned into zombies. Humanity persevered. They were built strong in a way that even the vampires couldn't compete with.
She daydreamed idly about what the future may hold as she tapped her pen on her desk and waited for anyone to come into her office. Alana did have a medical degree but she didn't heal bodies. She was much more interested in helping to heal minds but she could only do that if they would let her. She also knew that some minds simply couldn't be healed, especially after experiencing a trauma like the zombie apocalypse.
