The fact that she tensed at the hug didn't stop him from wanting to hold her, and was glad when she finally seemed to give in and hugged him back. Wrapping his arms securely around her, he let her cry as he gently rubbed her back to try and soothe her.
"You are not an awful person," he reassured her, his voice quiet but firm. "It's not easy dealing with... Hell, all this. It's a lot, Sookie, don't be so hard on yourself. And goddamn it, you are not in this alone." He smiled slightly. "What do you need me to do to prove that to you, hm?"
The mention of Jason, and her 'what if' scenario made him pull back only enough to look at her. "Don't do that to yourself. The what ifs, they're not worth it and you're going to make your life miserable. Jason is fine. Alright? You'll see, he'll show up soon."
