Was he flirting with her? She couldn't tell. His mannerisms off putting but his eyes were soulful. Isabel couldn't decide what it was about him. But there something compelling about the vampire she was sharing her spare with.
"I'm married," Isabel said. "It's just been a really long time since I've seen my husband. I don't know if he's alive or not. He could be out there somewhere but I don't think he could have made it. He just wasn't built that way."
Which was why Isabel had left him in the first place. Jesse was a successful lawyer with a real bright future. Isabel was his crazy alien wife who had the government hunting her down. Their worlds weren't the same.
"I do get a vote it's just that Max always gets the final say. It's the way it's always been."
He did have a point that she could try and have a life of her own in Everett. But why bother? She was leaving soon to find Michael anyway. If Max would let her.
"Family is just complicated." She shrugged. "I don't even know why I'm telling you all of this." He was just here and she had left the prison bursting with emotions.
