"I'll take your word on it. I used to put ketchup on eggs when I ate human food." It wasn't that he couldn't eat it now. There just wasn't a point. Humans needed the food that they could find now, and vampires needed the humans to be food. It made more sense to leave it to them. From his days on the road as a human, he remembered how bad it got trying to find decent human food, and Toby had never been a picky eater. It must be worse now.
His bright blue eyes followed her as he moved from the floor to the couch, able to see as she watched the snow come down in piles from her view. There was a bit of sadness in her voice that made him lower the bottle and really pay attention to her. She wasn't just lost out here from another planet; literally. This wasn't her home even here on earth.
"I went to Sedona once. Took a break a from life in the upper class burbs to check it out and clear my head. I think most people would want to go to Las Vegas, but I liked the view in Sedona. You're really not a fan of the cold, are you?"
He moved from the couch and walked fluidly toward where she was. Standing next to her, he stared out at the snow. "I didn't think it would be this bad. I guess it's too much to hope it will kill the mindless zombies out there?" Were they even bothered by the temperate the way humans were, or were they more like vampires.
"Do you like living in the prison?" He was curious how those who lived there felt. So many different species under one roof, trying to live like a community. He didn't buy that it was a better place to live. They just felt safety in numbers he supposed. Toby had always been a loner.
