Kait was the first to get out of the car as she approached the family on the side of the road. She could feel Gabriel's apprehension as they approached. He didn't trust people naturally. She understood that but they had kids. "Are you okay?" Kaitlyn asked as she approached.
"My grandpa is real sick," the little boy said. Kaitlyn instantly regretted not having Rob with them. Rob would have been able to use energy transfer to heal someone who was sick. Although she guessed it probably depended on just how old Grandpa was.
"Where is he?" The words died on Kaitlyn's tongue as she looked through the window of the station wagon window. There was the face she had drawn. The man she had drawn back in the car, bulging eyes and all. Oh my God.
She swapped a look with Gabriel. He wasn't the only one feeling apprehensive now. "We have a car. We can try to get him to the hospital," Kaitlyn offered. She moved to the door but the father quickly stopped her. She bristled at his hand pulling her arm away and she felt Gabriel move in close. But the man let go of her arm as soon as he took it.
"He'll hurt you," the man warned her. "There's something wrong with him he's.... he keeps trying to bite us."
An orange eybrow raised in their direction. Bite them? She couldn't mask her thoughts.
