Lorna might be overstepping. She was fully aware of this, but she was also aware that Alex had been through some tremendous losses in the last few months, and had just come back from closing a very important chapter of his old military and civilian lives to come to the Haven for good. She heard from her roommate Ruth about the aftermath of the Excalibur mission, and they commiserated over their teams' respective failures. However, it was the not so little revelation that one Scott Summers had been among the fruits of the Excalibur rescue efforts. The name rang alarms in Lorna's mind. She couldn't be sure, but she thought Alex might be in a bad place for a family reunion right now. She knew how much he loved his missing elder brother, but she also knew how much angry hurt and resentment he held for having felt abandoned all those years. Even Alex knew deep down it wasn't completely rational, but when has reason had anything to do with love and family?
Early the next morning, having hardly slept a wink, Lorna decided the best course of action was for her to meet this Scott Summers before Alex either got his hopes up or, on the contrary, went on the warpath on his lost sibling. Scott couldn't know that he had already lost one brother when Gabriel Summers died, and the thought broke her heart. All she wanted to do was talk to Scott, assure him that Alex did love him, if need be, in case her boyfriend and team leader reacted badly and burnt bridges that could not later be mended. She wanted to be a buffer, just in case.
Maybe she was worrying over nothing, but she'd rather not leave something like this to chance. For all she knew this Scott fellow had turned out to be a huge asshole who wanted nothing to do with his family. All the more reason to beat him to the punch before he could hurt Alex. So she was becoming a meddlesome wench in her ripe old age, so what? She wanted to protect Alex. It was her right and her duty now that they were together, and Lorna had never been the kind to sit back and wait for things to happen, no matter how much she had tried to understand and live by the Zen tenets of going with the flow. It was precisely because her personality was the polar opposite of Zen that she was attracted to the teachings. Which wasn't to say that they'd worked in any discernible way, but that was another matter entirely.
Certain that Scott would have been kept overnight for observation at the very least, she dressed comfortably in jeans and a simple violet blue top, stopped long enough to rush through her morning tea, and went down to the infirmary in search of Scott. She had no idea what she would say to him.
