A Writer's Resource

Welcome to the IJ asylum Writing Resources.  If you're here, you've likely been shown this place by me, as I'm not going to be advertising it around.  I came up with the idea as I was going through all my writing resources of late.  There are just so many writing links and other writing resources that I have in my bookmarks that would be far easier to access if organized via tags, so I decided to make an Asylum to keep track of them.  Then I figured, why not let others post their favorite sites for different things as well? 

The idea behind this is that each resource will have its own entry, and a tag or two (not sure how many yet, but hopefully most won't require too many tags, to keep this simple.)  At the moment, my ideas are -

dictionary - [type] (this would include languages, slang, term lists, and also naming lists.)
fandom - [fandom]
history - [era] - [general location]
character building - [type] (essays, archtype lists, character questions, other)
encyclopedia - [type] (general interest, or specific interest)
world building - [type] (essays, resource lists, other)
mythology - [pantheon] (also can include "general" for all-inclusive resource lists)
maps - [location]
quotes

And I'm sure there will be more, but that's enough to start with.  As it is, I'll have to add the tags as we go, so just let me know what you need, and I'll add it.

As for layout of the entry?

Title the Entry with the name of the site, then use this template for the entry:

<b>Name of site</b>: <b>Type of link</b>: (this should basically be what the entry will be tagged, but keep it general, please) <b>Warnings</b>: (anything if needed--does the site go down a lot? Is there adult content?) <b>Explanation of link</b>: (particularly include why you like this site over others, and what makes it stand out, as well, as what it's best uses are, ie, if it's a name site, is it best for random names, or for finding specific types?)

Name of site: The Unofficial, Sixth Year Hogwarts Scholar's Guide to Wizardly Sun Signs
Type of link: Astrology
Warnings: None
Explanation of link: A great site for character creation.  Particularly if you can't decide on a house for your Harry Potter character, or a birthdate. 
Goes through each of the Western sun signs and how they would vary for each house.

Name of site: Susan's Place Transgender Resources
Type of link: Adult resource list
Warnings: Adult subjects
Explanation of link: A great set of links and resources for those who are writing about a transgendered character.

Name of site: Helping Out During Pregnancy: Becoming a Dad
Type of link: Article - Pregnancy
Warnings: Pregnancy details, but not too detailed
Explanation of link: An article on what should be expected of the father during a pregnancy.

Name of site: What Is Your Animagus?
Type of link: HP Fandom
Warnings: None
Explanation of link: A great way to figure out what your character's animagus was.

Name of site: Child Growth Charts
Type of link: character chreation
Warnings: None needed
Explanation of link: Height/Weight and body mass indexes, and links to adult ones, as well.  A great resource if you need a more precice, and realistic idea of what someone's height or weight should be.

Name of site: Celtic Tree Signs
Type of link: Astrology
Warnings: None
Explanation of link: A very different sort of Astrolgy (okay, not quite Astrology), that goes by weeks rather than months or years.  Another great way to choose your character's birthdate.

Explanation of link: Goes through each number 1 - 31 and their meanings.

Warnings: None
Explanation of link: Great information on the British School system.

Explanation of link: A great way to tell if your original character is a Mary Sue.

Warnings: None
Explanation of link: A list of the names in the Harry Potter books and their origins.

Name of site: Willow's Harry Potter Character Guides
Type of link: Character Creation
Warnings: None
Explanation of link: Most of the major and minor characters' parts in each book books one through five, and part of six, aside from a small selection of the most major characters.
