Brothers and Other Strangers -
Who: Stefan and Damon and Katherine (oh my!)
What: talking, sniping, maybe arguing, what Katherine will do is anyone's guess lol
When: Tonight
Where: the Salvatore home
Damon replaced the stopper in the glass decanter on the sideboard. Taking his glass in hand, he twirled the dark liquid in the glass for a moment, watching the whirlpools eddy about, before resuming his seat before the fire. He was debating what he wanted to do. He considered summoning Caroline Forbes for a little bit of fun, but that would undoubtedly entail listening to her talk, and dear God, that was nothing he was in the mood for at the moment. While she certainly had her uses, she was also a pain in the ass, one he didn't wish to deal with. Ditto her mother. While it was fun to pretend to be the zealous vampire hunter, serving the public good in the town which his family had lived in for many years, that too got old. And he just didn't want to listen to her either.
What did he want to do? Whom did he want to talk to? That he would reveal to no one, not even to himself. Yes, he was not being very open there, pushing his feelings into the background. Although if you'd accused him of doing it for his brother's benefit, he would have denied it. His brother had no clue, anyway, as to how Damon felt about her - her being Elena Gilbert - and Damon intended to keep it that way.
It wasn't because of her uncanny resemblance to Katherine Pierce. It was for herself and her own Elena qualities that he loved her. Face it, Katherine had no redeeming qualities - she was and always would be a major bitch. She'd lived as one and died as one. And no, if one were to expect total self-honesty on that subject, he wasn't completely over her either. Which made the situation even more complex. The only saving grace in that was that Katherine was buried in the tomb yet.
Of course he could do something about that. That had always been his goal, once he found the grimoire and the means to do it. Open the tomb that is. But now he was so confused. Save Katherine, and live miserably ever after? Or try for door number two, the new and improved Katherine, aka Elena Gilbert, and let Stefan be the one to be miserable?
Some days he felt that Stefan deserved that. His feelings and thoughts on the subject, though, were subject to change.
