Game In Review: December 12 - December 28, 1997 (2009)
The catchword for this review? Christmas! And also the gear up for the things which are happening now - the Horcrux desctruction! The Ministry losing its mind! Death Eaters and Snatchers! Hello, darkness!
Game In Review: December 12 - December 28, 1997 (2009)
December 12: The Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff game goes pretty disastrously for Hufflepuff. Many students are worried about those who were injured, but some Ravenclaws brag a bit too much about the victory. Skipping the game, Draco and Astoria talk in the common room, and give onlookers a bit of gossip to run with. After the game, Julien cheers Alfie up and Greg and Theo wrestle in the Slytherin dorms. Elsewhere, The Ministry orders McGonagall to turn Ron Weasley over for questioning, which she refuses. McGonagall then owls Molly and Arthur about the situation, and they, in turn, order Ron and Ginny to remain at Hogwarts for the holiday. Elsewhere, Mulciber and Rodolphus make plans to meet.
December 13: Greg and Theo have a fortuitous run in in the hallways, fueled by a bit of Alcohol and Ginny and Sam attend the Slug Club Christmas party and then get much, much closer. Meanwhile at Grimmauld, Severus and Rodolphus discuss the Dark Lord's upcoming plans. Meanwhile, Hufflepuff students still worry about their friends who were injured in the Quidditch match, and Astoria gets gifts from her sister early.
December 14: The Hogwarts Express takes students home for the holiday, with Professors there turning away Aurors at the gates. The Prophet then reprots that McGonagall is harboring a dangerous fugitive: Ron Weasley.
December 15: Sam runs into Fred Weasley in Diagon Alley. Meanwhile, Penny and Orsino meet in a record shop and the Malfoys owl to ask the Greengrasses' for Astoria to come with them on holiday.
December 16: The Prophet reports an unidentified body found decomposing outside of Hogsmeade, and blames Ron. Generally, people don't believe that Ron Weasley is a murderer, and Ginny continues to send news to Hermione. Meanwhile, Gideon rescues a very drunk Heath from a tube station. Elsewhere, Lucius Malfoy is reappointed to the Hogwarts Board of Governors. Christmas excitement is in the air despite everything, though.
December 17: The Malfoys are pleased to be going on holiday, and more Christmas cheer and plans abound including the first of many presents being sent out. At Hogwarts, Ron responds to allegations that he's a murderer while still more people share their disbelief at the accusation. Meanwhile, Neville has an accident.
December 18: Students who stayed at Hogwarts get a bit stir-crazy, but in general the Christmas mood has most people in a good mood making plans and enjoying the season.
December 19: Holiday plans continue to be made and enjoyed, or not enjoyed for some students. Greg Goyle pays a visit to Theodore Nott's home. In general, people are still enjoying the holiday and also still sharing their disbelief over the accusations levied at Ron Weasley. Following his drinking all night binge, Heath rememebers the new rules against Muggleborns and worries about being out all night. Announcements appear everywhere touting the opening of the Hogsmeade WWW, and Fred and George go to talk with McGonagall before Fred screws things up with Verity.
December 20: Some are not enjoying their holidays as much as others. Viktor visits Hogwarts and goes for a fly with Su, who then goes back to considering her career choices, while others are using the holiday to make a little money. Draco informs Astoria that they are leaving soon, and then goes shopping with his father before talking with his mother. Meanwhile, Percy tries to convince Ron to come in for questioning. Meanwhile, Daphne gets some gifts as she celebrates her birthday.
December 21: Percy begins to realize that there are DEs at the Ministry. Meanwhile, Christmas looms and some people aren't having as much fun as others. Daphne receives several more birthday gifts, while others are getting early Christmas gifts. Draco takes Astoria to the Malfoy holiday home for a few days to meet his parents.
December 22: Ginny is missing Sam while Kirley makes a goodwill Holiday gesture to everyone. Meanwhile, everyone seems to be gearing up for the holiday.
December 23 - 25: Holiday presents sent by owls or delivered in person or left for people on beds take over the community, as well they should, since it's Christmas! (I'm not linking to all of these, but definitely go through and try to figure out what your character got for Christmas! The gifts were awesome.)
December 26: Various students and adults write out their holiday wishes for their friends, and brag about their holiday hauls. Some are feeling the effects of the holiday, but others are already looking forward to New Year and returning to school. Alfie and Julien talk in their classroom. Meanwhile, Viktor visits Megan as she's finally released from the infirmary. On holiday, Daphne is questioned by Nikolas' sister. Elsewhere, Meghan and Oliver plan to play Quodpot?
December 27: As a newly reappointed Governor of Hogwarts, Lucius is called in to meet with Minister Thicknesse and assigned the job of attempting to convince McGonagall to step down.
December 28: The body found earlier in the month outside of Hogsmeade is finally identified as Marietta Edgecombe, who disappeared months ago. Ron is blamed again, but the Prophet reports that McGonagall is considering stepping down from her Headmistress post as well. This is quickly followed by a Quibbler article that says she is not leaving, and also another that claims a Vampire is loose in London. Shortly after the Quibbler release, Pyrites is summoned to Voldemort for a mission. Students react to the misrepresented news about the Headmistress. Meanwhile, Scabior is recruited to the Snatchers by Rodolphus Lestrange, who later thanks Pyrites for the use of his club. Elsewhere, Belinda goes shopping for her birthday. Hermione finally writes to friends, and is given some important help from Viktor Krum.
The following open thread could still use a responder: Belinda goes shopping. Also remember to please check out the list of incomplete threads and, if the thread is finished, change the tag to complete.
Remember that these recaps are for the game as a whole. If I've left out something, it just means I missed it, so please let me know. If you're interested in just the metaplot aspects there is a reference here that will chart just those things that happen to affect the overarching plots of the game. This will be updated today. (Yes, I know I said that last time! The Holidays ate me!)
