Who: Estella Rosier & Kira Rackharrow
What: Wine and girls' night
When: Backdated, January 31st, evening
Where: Rosier Place
Rating/Warning: PGish

There was nothing better than a girls' night and a large bottle of wine. In fact, it was one of the better things Estella could have been doing with her time. With her mother out with her grandmother for some sort of charity dinner and Evan Rosier, Sr. in the midst of a few illegal activities, Estella found that for the first time in a long time, she'd had the manor to herself. Kicking her feet up on the coffee table in the parlor, Estella crossed her arms in front of her chest and leaned her head back against the sofa she waited for Kira to come by.

A large bottle of chardonnay was waiting in the kitchen, glasses already prepared and chilled by their house elf. Considering how tiring her week of Snatching had been, she say she deserved a night night off. Now if only Kira showed up before Estella drank the whole bottle by herself.

"Such is my life," Estella whined dramatically, a small heave of a sigh following.

Not a moment later, however, she smiled and her shoulders shook with quiet laughter. She made a small gesture toward the house elf and watched as the ickle creature made its way back toward the kitchen. That bottle of wine would be following them into the parlor at any moment.

"Come," she said, beckoning Kira to follow her toward the sitting room. "How was work? Do anything particularly disgusting today?"

Although she fancied that Kira had a job she really liked, she hadn't a clue as to how her friend could like something such as, well, whatever it was Kira did. Estella never bothered with knowing the details. They made her feel particularly grimy. Estella was all for getting dirty, but in such different ways.

“Oh yes, I’m certain.” Her tone was very disbelieving as she looked at Estella, a small smile on her face. She knew that Estella loved how her life was and highly doubted that she’d ever change anything about it.

She was itching to roll her eyes at her friend’s antics, but refrained, instead walking along behind her when she beckoned, easily following her along the familiar path to the parlor. Kira highly doubted that much, if anything, had changed and therefor didn’t feel the need to look around as they went. As it stood she thought that most pureblood homes tended to look the same, stuffy and cold, and the Rosier place wasn’t any different. She honestly believed that the only thing keeping it from being completely uninviting was Estella.

“Work is as it always typically is, busy and irritating and yet utterly fantastic.” She had a certain love of her job that could border on fanatical at times. “I dislike the politics of it all and the paperwork. Oh, and of course the rules that say I can’t stand. Does it really matter if I steal some homeless muggle and use it in my experiments? No one would miss it.”

"Rules are just a flimsy excuse for what you can get away with," Estella commented with a wave of her hand.

As the pair entered into the parlor, Estella lounged herself gracefully on the sofa nearest to them. Lately, she had found she was growing tired much earlier in the night than she was used to. It might have been the early mornings her grandmother had pushed her into taking for their morning runs. One wold think that a woman pushing 65 wouldn't want to go for a run.

But she did. And Estella was meant to do it with her.

"But now, I don't see why you'd have to follow any of them."

"You would believe that there wouldn't be such rules still as well, but there are. And anytime I question said rules I get told it's all a matter of propriety." This time she did role her eyes and she moved to sit down near Estella. "They say it'll bring too much more attention to the Ministry when people notice muggles going in, but not coming back out. Evidently they won't be as tolerant as they are with all the mudbloods coming in and not leaving."

Though if she were patient then it probably wouldn't be an issue. With the way things were going now it was only a matter of time before even muggles could go missing without any need to worry about what the general populace would say. It was actually quite nice having Ministry officials who were all on the proper side of things. They didn't mind that she frequently petitioned to be allowed the use of muggles. She briefly wondered if perhaps they'd let her try her progress on some of the mudblood prisoners...

"And you? Have you been up to much?" And of course she meant anything behind her normal days of seduction.

As they both settled into their seats, the house elf returned with a large silver tray balancing precariously in front of it. Estella hiked a perfectly manicured eyebrow as she watched with baited breath. She ought to give the thing more credit, she thought briefly, as it very easily placed the tray down on the table in front of them and poured each girl a large glass of wine.

"I've become my grandmother's new pet project," she admitted, with a slightly over-dramatic sigh. "She thinks I don't partake in enough physical activity."

At this, Estella smiled rather broadly.

"But what she doesn't know won't hurt her. I've let her boss me around a bit. It's not so bad."

Kira payed little attention to the house elf when it returned, deeming it of little consequence. After all she expected it would do its job one way or another and even if it messed up it would be left to Estella to deal with. She did, however, notice when it poured their drinks.

"Does she now?" The very thought amused Kira. She was more than certain that Estella was involved in plenty of physical activity, though perhaps not the type that her grandmother would approve of. And Estella's next words certainly confirmed she wasn't aware of what her granddaughter was up to.

"I get the feeling she would have some rather harsh words if she knew just what sort of things you got up to on your own, Estella. Though you certainly have more patience than I would if someone in my family tried to boss me around." Estella's family was more like Kira wished her family was in the long run. Her family was completely against being involved with the Dark Lord simply because they didn't want any attention pulled toward them.

Estella had never known any other way of life. Since she was a young child, she had been thrust into her grandfather's and her late-father's way of life and their beliefs. She wasn't sure if she would know how to handle any other way of life. She smiled brightly, finding it quite funny that she'd kept such a secret from her grandmother for so long. Though just how important Estella's little charms happened to be were also kept secret from her grandfather.

"I'm the only one here," she said, the idea of being the only child and the only grandchild something that she often mulled over. "They don't have any other way to fill their time. I only consider myself lucky my grandmother is much more fun than my mother."

“Is your mother trying to get you to court and then marry some respectable male so that you may carry on the pureblood line like the proper pureblood lady you ought to be?” She found that more often than not that seemed to be what either of their mothers were on about and she wondered if they got together to talk about it. That would definitely be something that Kira would rather not see happen. She could imagine how rather unpleasant it would be to have to deal with the two of them scheming.

“I do have to say that I wish my grandmother was like yours in the end of it all. Mine is quite like my mother and I could do without that.” She could actually do without most of her immediate family. The only one that she held any hope out for was her younger brother. Perhaps this summer she would cut back her hours and see about stealing him away for part of the summer so that her parents couldn’t corrupt them with their dull witted way of thinking.
