Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!1997: 11, !incomplete, george weasley, katie bell

Who: Katie Bell and George Weasley
When: Backdated to Saturday evening.
Where: Starting at the shop and moving to a pub somewhere?
What: Katie stops in to see the twins and finds George who is apparently in need of a drink and a good rant.
Rating: TBD
Open/Closed: Closed to them?

After spending most of her afternoon in Hogsmeade, catching up on old friends from school, Katie decided to pay a visit to the twins. George had been moaning about something or other lately and she thought it was time she stopped by and said hello to both of the twins.

When she made her way inside the shop and set about looking for them, though, she only saw George. One Weasley twin was better than none, though, and she flashed him a cheerful grin. "Hard at work, as usual, I see," she teased him as she approached. "You should put that all away and come for a drink. I wouldn't want you falling over dead from too much working or something."

Despite her teasing demeanor, a drink did sound nice. She hoped he could sneak away for long enough to grab one. All joking aside, George was one of her favorite people and it would be nice to have a moment to catch up with him, even if it was likely to turn into her giving him a hard time.

"Nothing says devastation and emotional shattering than naked, Kates," George told her solemly. He grinned though, shoving the papers beneath the counter and then tucking his wand away.

George had been working hard lately. With the new shop getting ready, and some new products, and the upheaval in the world in general - his time was pretty bloody booked. George was a workaholic, but only because work was fun to him, and thus the twins were usually almost always "on the clock" so to speak. Anything and everything sparked ideas. But he'd been working on things more serious than usual lately.

Plus he'd been complaining. That took up loads of time. "Miss me that much? You can make it up to me by buying me drinks and then pouring me into bed. Yours if you want." George flirted ceaselessly with all of his old teammates, but never actually expected to get anywhere. It was just part of him.

"I haven't missed you that much." Katie rolled her eyes in a slightly exaggerated way and shook her head. "Hardly at all, really. I just happened to be really bored tonight and I thought 'you know who is a total slacker and is probably not doing anything important?'"

She flashed him a grin to show she was kidding. Katie knew the twins took their shop fairly seriously and she also knew they they were capable of actual serious thought from time to time. It might not show often, because their friendship was full of jokes and teasing, but that was just how it was with them.

It was a comforting thing, actually, George shamelessly flirting with her. They both knew she wasn't going to take him up on it and she very much doubted he really wanted her to. Either way, it was certainly better than having Graham Montague reminding her of a night she'd much rather forget or trying to coax her into a repeat. That whole night had been a mistake and maybe she'd sought out George tonight because a part of her was drawn to Montague and she hated herself for it. Maybe she needed this reminder of just who she was.

"Aren't you supposed to be the one buying me drinks, anyway?" she continued to tease him. "Getting me drunk so you can seduce me and all that?"

"Liar. You girls sit over in that flat of yours and get all weepy and sad when you don't see us for long. Except for Ang, because her ass is permanently affixed to the bloody counter anyway."

He flipped her two fingers cheerfully and started for the door, and then paused, pointing at her. "Do a hag check first." Which was becoming standard proceedure lately. She was persistant, Brunhilde was.

George never actually expected Katie to take him up on his constant flirting. If she HAD he wouldn't have said no, because she wasn't formerly Fred's regular snog, and there wasn't a One Rule about her. Which were pretty much George's only too no-snogging rules.

"Nu uh. You asked me. So you're buying. Which makes me the girl. Hold on a tic, I'll go get tarted up and put on heels."

"Oh, right, we do. How silly of me to forget. Ali and I were nearly drowning in our own tears earlier."

This was good. Katie was instantly glad she'd stopped by, even if she wouldn't come right out and say that or admit that she'd needed something like this. George's ego was large enough without her fueling it by seriously admitting she missed him or that this kind of thing was just what she needed at the moment.

"Oh, did you want to invite her along? I wouldn't want her to think you were cheating on her." Katie gave him something of a cheeky grin even as she started for the door.

"Heels? Oh, now, George, you know I'll never be able to resist you in those! Are you putting on a dress, too, because I didn't think to bring my camera and it's really not fair to get up like that without the other girls here to see if I can't capture the moment."

Really, it wasn't. Not that she thought he was really going to get tarted up. Probably. You never knew with the twins, actually.
