Characters: Open to anyone
Setting: Saturday. Hogsmeade Trip. Three Broomsticks
Summary: Lisa's big brother has chosen to celebrate his sister's 18th with a supply of drinks for anyone who says they know her...and maybe a few who don't.

Landon Turpin was certainly an extroverted individual. From the moment he apparated to Hogsmeade that morning he was entertaining conversation and hello's with everyone he came in contact with. Despite the current political temperature the twenty-one year-old journalist was exceptionally cordial and chipper. After visiting an old friend in the Hogs Head for an hour the first visual arrival of Hogwarts students started to filter past the windows. It was then that he trotted his way over to the Three Broomsticks where the ever beautiful Madam Rosmerta greeted him by name. Unknown to his family members he had a tendency to do some work in the north. The Three Broomsticks was a decent enough landmark for meetings. But that was an entirely different story... Where were we?

It was only a matter of time that his kid sister, Lisa, and her friends joined him at the pub. With enthusiastic hugs and birthday wishes he made sure to speak to each of her friends with a jolly sort of disposition. A former Ravenclaw of '93 he recognized a few of them even if they hadn't paid a visit to the Turpin home in Northallerton recently. For those of age he willingly told them to charge whatever they wanted on his tab. For those just under the age limit he provided thirty bottles of butterbeer to anyone who might have looked nice enough to deserve one.

Overtime the crowd filtered down to their individual tables. Landon took to discussing his theories on the coming quidditch matches with an older gentlemen and a few Hogwarts students at the bar. Having played for Ravenclaw as a beater for four years he chatted openly about his past experiences and his occasional acquaintanceship with some of the now-professional players scheduled to hit the field within the next 24 hours. While he chatted he didn't pay much attention to who was charging what to his account or who was taking the butterbeers left out on an open table.

Lisa usually wasn't a big drinker and she certainly wasn't one for big parties. However, when she spoke with her brother at Dumbledore's funeral some weeks prior it seemed as though the young man was rather eager to be with her during the celebration. Though Lisa wasn't fully convinced when the suggestion was made she was glad she came around. Having been eighteen for the last thirty one hours it was a nice moment to spend with her friends. Doubly so since she didn't have to pay for anything.

She was a bit concerned about the open bar offer that her older, socialer, and financially retarded brother had made. Well, she was concerned until she'd started on her order of Marveling Mango Martini. Half way through that she...sort of forgot about the fact that there was a table behind them of free for all butterbeers and a tab just about anyone could make use of. It wasn't her money.

Working on a glass of firewhisky, her second beverage of choice, Lisa sat at one of the booths near the window with a gathering of friends. "We should play a game," she declared to those sitting with her as her beverage was delivered. "What sort of drinking games do you lot know? Come on with it."

In truth, Su had been more eager for this Hogsmeade trip than for any of the others that had preceded it this term. Even if she wasn't the reason for the gathering, parties were almost always fun. Besides, Lisa had seemed almost reluctant to hold the party - Su knew her friend wasn't overly fond of large gatherings. If it weren't for Landon's generosity, who knows? Maybe there wouldn't have been much to get excited for after all!

Figuring this was an occasion to get dressed up, that morning Su had selected one of her mother's more recent purchases. Now that she had been at the Three Broomsticks for a while and had settled into a comfortable window booth with Lisa, a few other friends, and a firewhisky of her own (she figured she'd start with a less favorite, and move up to the things she especially liked), Su was feeling quite at home.

The commotion and laughter around her seemed to lend her a sort of energy, and she beamed at Lisa's suggestion for a game. Su never hesitated to jump at the chance to direct the day's events. She gave the birthday girl a mischievous look, "What about 'I've Never'?"

Lisa's nose scrunched slightly both in mild confusion and in response to the slight burn of her first sip of firewhiskey. She'd forgotten how uncomfortable the first gulp always was. Letting a small cough leave her she smiled awkwardly and asked, "How does that one go again?"

Lisa had played a few drinking games. Course, most of them involved a pack of cards, coins, and the occasional wireless advertisement. She'd heard of the rules for 'I've Never' but she couldn't particularly remember the intricate rules that had once been shared. Considering she'd never played it herself she'd need a quick 'how to.' She didn't particularly care if everyone else at the table already knew how to.

"It's simple," Su explained, giving her head a little shake. "Basically we've got the group of people, and we're all sitting in a nice orderly fashion, so that's good."

She swept her gaze across her companions as she took another sip from her bottle before continuing. "So, one of us starts. You, probably, since it's your day. And you say something you've never done...like, oh, 'I've never...played Beater on the Quidditch team.' And anyone who has done that has to take a drink. After a while it of course gets a bit less...mundane."

An impish look appeared on Su's face.

Viktor had seen the journal entry about the students meeting at the Three Broomsticks. He had spent much of that Saturday outside, walking and jogging in a park he'd looked up, and while the day had been nice, he'd been alone.

Very, very much alone.

He was used to it, to a degree. The life of a professional Quidditch player was not always full of devoted fans, nosy journalists and crowded changing rooms. There were hours and hours of exercise, devoted to practice on the broom and keeping one fit. It had been nice in the past to have companionship doing these things; now, he was basically on his own.

He'd arrived at his flat, apparating inside and taken a long hot shower. Padding about the place in a towel, he'd paused at the book he was reading, and picked up the journal lying just underneath it. There was no new entry there from Hermione or from Mandy for that matter, and he let out a heavy sigh. Flopping down on his bed, he mused his options for the evening and decided that he was going to show up.

He apparated to the door of the Three Broomsticks, and pushed it open, entering with a slightly hesitant look. There had been an open invitation to all to come, and there was to be free drinks to be had. He saw a table of butterbeers, and decided he'd need something a bit stronger for a start. The barkeep was still the pretty woman he remembered, and after ordering a vodka, Viktor turned and allowed his eyes to scan the crowd, curious to see who would be here. He wondered which girl was the birthday girl.

Just a couple drinks and then I'll go, he thought to himself.

While the older gentleman he was conversating with argued with a Hufflepuff of some kind about Puddlemere's seeker Landon had been scanning the pub for a head count of who all was interacting with his sister. It was then that a very familiar face approached the bar. That couldn't be who it looked like it was. He stared a moment longer and moved over on the bar to get a better angle. A smirk appeared on his face as his suspicions proved more and more blatantly correct. Being a journalist for the Daily Prophet and an avid Quidditch fan there was no way Landon Turpin's attention to faces and names were wrong.

He casually excused himself from his group and went to sit next to the man. "Hey mate," he said blatantly with a sort of starstruck glint in his eye. Being a bit...tactless on more than one occasion the young man had very little humility for his slightly rude intrusion on the man's afternoon. "You're Viktor Krum, yeah? That Bulgarian seeker? I'd remember your face anywhere."

Despite his having completed his Hogwarts studies a year before the Triwizard Tournament, Landon had come to watch all of the events at the school during his sister's fourth year. And though he'd cheered for Cedric Diggory and Harry Potter through each of the challenges...he still managed to get the famous seeker's autograph along the way.

Viktor turned his head at the sound, and gave a small smile to the younger man who appeared at his side. And he let his shoulders drop slightly as he realized he was in the presence of an eager fan.

Viktor turned around, now facing the man, and giving him a larger, slightly fake grin, "Yes, you found me out. I am Viktor Krum. Nice to meet you," he said, extending his hand to the fellow.

Viktor wasn't sure how this was going to turn out. The guy could be a crazed fan, and latch on to Viktor the entire time he was here. Viktor hoped he wasn't. And as he continued to smile politely, Viktor tried to work out if he would stay, or just politely leave and avoid the entire fan thing. He thought of his empty, quiet flat and the prospect of returning to that, alone again, made him stubbornly refuse to let a potential exuberant fan drive him off. He steeled himself for the expected conversation, all the while his smile fixed to his face.

"Brilliant," Landon chuckled as he shook the man's hand. At that particular moment of confirmation the Daily Prophet journalist had to take a moment to make a decision. To inquire about the foreigner's current political stand and his rumoured relations with one Tart-tastic Granger or to buy him a drink. Decisions... decisions.

"I'll tell you what," he'd decided patting the bloke on his shoulder. "My kid sister's having her eighteenth birthday today." He pointed toward Lisa and the group of friends in their booth as a laugh emitted from them. "You my new friend are officially invited to the party. Put your drinks on my tab - Landon Turpin. No worries."

He patted the man on the back. He'd decided he'd get some alcohol in the man's system before he asked any questions.

Viktor shook the hand solidly, and nodded, "You are the brother? It is nice of you to do this for your sister and her friends. And thank you. I would be happy to participate," and he moved his head so that he could look over at the booth, nodding again. He would have to go over there and wish her happy salutations at some point, "Your sister is the blond?" Viktor asked, turning his attention back to the other man his own age. And at his next words, Viktor shook his head.

"Landon, you do not have to purchase my drinks, really," Viktor added, pleased now to be officially included. He still was a bit wary as to how the evening would progress, but now at least he was a guest, "This bar will be packed with people very soon. That's quite a gift to her," and he looked at the girl again, "She is lucky to have such a generous brother," he said with a grin.

Viktor felt like he should make an effort to be sociable with this eager young man, "You went to Hogwarts? What house?" Viktor asked, knowing this was what people liked to share.

Landon had snorted at the response of Lisa being 'the blond.' "No mate she's the thin brunnete with the pointy features and the blue jumper," he absently stared at the girl as she pointed at one of the blokes at the table and said something inaudible to him. "She's a right snot - but I like her alright."

When Viktor declined the offer for drinks the former Ravenclaw didn't pass the chance to test the former-quidditch star's sense of humour. "Well that's modest of you," he grinned. "How's about you buy your drinks and take half of my tab too?" He leaned in obviously not in the least bit serious as he chuckled. "No- But seriously if there is something you'd like to charge - do. It'd be my honour."

As he took hold of the drink Rosmerta brought over that he'd ordered before joining Viktor Landon took a sip only to find it amusing the man would venture to small talk. "That I did," he said with a casual tone, "Was a Ravenclaw. Finished in the spring of good 'ol '93. Only bad thing about that was I had to commute to that triwizard tournament the following year - but that was worth it. You gave it a hell of a go if I remember correctly."

Viktor nodded as he took a drink of his vodka, "Ravenclaw. I just met a Ravenclaw recently. Very nice girl," he said, "She was..pretty," he said, now flashing a smile at the other man.

"is your sister a Ravenclaw as well?" he asked, curious about that, "We did not have houses, such as you have, at Durmstrang. My brothers are there, as I was, but there is no such organization such as at Hogwarts."

Viktor didn't know what to say at first as Landon complimented him about the Triwizard event.

"I did okay. Harry was good, as was Cedric," he said, raising his glass at the name of the fallen boy, "It was a good experience. I am glad you enjoyed it," and Viktor gave a small smile, "I enjoyed it as well, all of it, even if I did not place very high. I liked being at Hogwarts that year," he added, smiling again, "It is a very good school."
