Who: Astoria & Draco
What: Celebrating a victory of sorts & making things obvious
Where: Hogwarts Courtyard
When: After the Quidditch game
Rating/Warning: TBA

Astoria stood in the center in the small offshoot of courtyard that she and Draco had gone to last time, away from the immediate prying eyes of anyone coming and going inside the castle. She didn't usually attend Quidditch matches unless Draco was playing, she didn't really get the appeal of the sport, but even she had had to admit that today's match had been exciting and she'd found herself cheering and yelling encouragements and booing Gryffindor just like many of her housemates. She thought, although it was hard to tell with how little she watched the sport, that Draco had played much better today as well. Or, she admitted to herself, she might be just a little bit more then biased.

"Were you cheering just for me?" Draco asked, and he was relieved that she knew, but more relieved that she was willing to move on from the topic too. He hoped he didn't have to tell her that she couldn't breathe a word of this - to anyone.

Astoria was smart enough to guess in the first place, she was smart enough to know she couldn't tell anyone. Not even Daphne, which would be the hardest person to keep it from. She was used to telling her sister everything, especially the important bits. And this was terribly important and she couldn't help but think that she SHOULD tell Daphne. She wouldn't though. It was too dangerous. For Draco, for herself and for her sister. She shivered a little and pressed her face against his shoulder for a moment, before she could focus to answer his question. She laughed, and if was still a little strained, it was real. "Well, I certainly wasn't cheering for Vaisey. Or Goyle. Although knocking him off the broom, well I was torn about whether I should be cheering or not."

"That was brilliant, wasn't it?" Draco snorted again, some of the tension he'd been feeling starting to relax out of his muscles as the conversation moved on to easier things. "I'm toying with the idea of asking him to knock him off the broom at the close of every game. Make a tradition of it."

She laughed again, and shook her head. "I think he might suspect something eventually. He's not you, but he's not a complete idiot. Then again, if Goyle keeps knocking him down and scattering his wits, perhaps he'll be declared unfit eventually and Daphne wouldn't have to marry him!"

"See, it would be a service to your family I'd be offering," Draco snorted again, and without his really meaning to his arm squeezed her shoulders. "Though, you are right. I wouldn't want Goyle tossed off the team for it. We don't have anyone nearly as vicious as he can be."

"Hmmm, you are indeed, offering a valuable service, although I don't know if my parents would see it that way," she giggled, "Hmmm, he is rather good, when he directs it at the proper team, at knocking people around." Really, that was all Goyle had ever been good for, that she'd noticed. "Either way, it was worth it to see the look on Weasley's face when you grabbed the snitch right from her."

"It would have been nicer if that bludger hadn't gone wide," Draco answered, not worried about admitting he'd tried to steer the Gryffindor into its path.

Quidditch was a dirty game, it was part of why she'd given up her plans on learning to play it with any skill. She'd learned enough to know what was going on and to be able to discuss it without sounding like a ninny, really. So Draco trying to steer the other Seeker into the bludger was, as far as Astoria was concerned, a good tactic. "Hmm, true. You'd think her head was big enough it couldn't miss, as puffed up as she was about their supposed victory before hand," she added smugly.

"I wish it had been Potter," Draco said absently, then he nearly winced at what he'd said, shaking his head. "Not that I'd want him back at the school. I'd just like to beat him to the Snitch once more before I leave this bloody school."

She sighed and frowned faintly. "Well, he's got bigger problems, I guess, what with being on the run and wanted and all." She still didn't think he had had anything to do with Dumbledore's death but that didn't get him out of trouble with the Ministry. "I'm glad he's gone, he always seemed to attract trouble."

Draco felt like admitting to the grudging respect he'd had for the boy for the last few months- that he'd come back feeling, somehow, in the same way he felt comfortable with her, dizzying and out of place.

But he'd already been far too honest today to start down that road. "That he did. Perhaps he'll disappear, wherever he is."

She snorted. "Maybe." She sighed and tilted her head up, looking at him. "Now... weren't you going to do something about making interests obvious, or some such? I seem to remember that, right after you warned me about looking out for Parkinson?"

Draco looked at her, and almost smiled, one eyebrow arching up. "Was I? I don't remember." But his free hand come up to her face, too, brushing flyaway hair back from it and then sliding over her cheek, across her jaw.

She arched a brow in obvious disbelief. "You don't forget things that easily. I know you don't." She grinned in delight as he brushed his fingers over her skin. "Try really hard to remember."

"I'm trying exceptionally hard," Draco answered, his mouth twitching again. He liked her reaction, though, and long fingers slid down her throat slowly, too, feeling her pulse there. "Perhaps you need to remind me?"

She swallowed, and shook her head a little and smiled. "Hmmm, perhaps. I might have got an idea or two as to how you could reminded."

She leaned up and brushed a kiss across his lips and then smiled, before she kissed him again. "Does that jog anything?"

Draco laughed, despite himself, and slid his hand into her hair when she kissed him - the kiss was just a tease, really, gone before it was really there at all. "Ah, I think I remember," He said, and the arm that was still around her waist tried to pull her up, into his lap. It was a bit awkward to maneuver, and he needed her to be willing, but he didn't think that would be a problem. "Come here," He said, as if there were a doubt about what he was trying to do.

She blinked a little, surprised but she scooted into his lap with alacrity, more then willing and thrilled at the invitation. It was surprisingly intimate, even with layers of clothing between them and she was very aware of how close she was to him and her cheeks flushed. She liked it, however. She wound one arm around his neck and snuggled back in closer.

She was tiny, comparatively, and he felt tall, felt strong her her in his lap and draped around him that way. It was refreshingly empowering when Draco spent most of his time this last year feeling useless.

One arm braced around her back to hold her so she didn't slip from his lap, and the other busied itself sliding down her arm slowly, then back up to trace her throat. "This shouldn't be this comfortable," He said, and he surprised himself by saying it aloud.

She smiled and laughed softly, her breath warm on his cheek, and she brushed a kiss along his jaw. "It should be terrifying, actually," she agreed quietly, and just leaned against him. "I'm finding it hard to remember to be terrified though."

Draco swallowed, all the worry coming back at that word. "You think you ought to be terrified by me?" He asked, and he wasn't aware, really, of how important it was to him that she answer 'no' until he'd asked it.

She frowned a little and she squeezed her arms around him a little tighter. "Not of you, silly. Of how you make me feel a little. This is all really new, and now matter how much I like it, it's a little scary." She wasn't even thinking about his Mark, she was wrapped up in him and then. "I like kissing you too much though to remember to be scared. I like it when you play with my hair too. It feels... comfortable. Like I could curl up and go to sleep in your lap and I'd be safe."

Draco smiled at that, and there was a strange warmth in his spine that he associated completely with her, and with her being open enough with him to admit things like that. He stroked his fingers through her hair, swallowing once and watching his pale fingers in her dark hair, then he looked back to her mouth, tugging her in slowly to kiss her.

Oh she liked that immensely. She could do that forever, she was pretty sure, because his mouth felt divine and perfect and he kissed her just right, not too much, but not too little either, and there was something, a faint hint of more that thrilled her too, even if she should probably be remembering all those lessons her mother had drilled into her on what ladies did and did not do. She was pretty sure ladies did not sit on boy's laps and kiss them like they didn't need to breath any more, but she didn't much care at the moment.
