Who: Marcus Flint and Susan Bones
When: Backdated to Thursdaaay evening
Where: Rules and then.. ?
What: A date for her birthday!
Rating: TBD
Open/Closed: OPEN- To Susan Bones

He really shouldn't be nervous anymore, should he? Marcus Flint doesn't do nervous. Girls get nervous about him and it's never the other way around. He's never worried about being pleasing enough because, Merlin, he's got a smile that makes casual sex so very easy, makes his life easy.

And look where that got him. Delaney Twilfitt pregnant with his child.

It's no wonder that he's searching for something different. Searching for something so that when Jovian is old enough to ask if his father loves his wife he can answer truthfully with a yes, rather than the grunts given to him by his father.

But the search is awkward. It has him in unfamiliar territory and looking more and more like... like Oliver fucking Wood rather than famed, brutal, handsome, Marcus Flint. But this doesn't stop him from pursuing Susan further. There is the general reasons: she's too pretty, insanely pretty. She's got eyes that make his heart race and he does wonder on occasion what she'd look like with her head tilted back, lips uttering his name in a half moan. But then there is more than that cropping up. He can't get enough of how kind she is, how understanding. She's patient and she's got a love for gardens that he shares and he can't help but think she'd be grand with Jovian, but he refuses to linger on that last thought very long.

It's these thoughts so heavy in his mind that has him nervous as he steps into her little shop to meet her. He's in a crisp black shirt and tie, something fit for a more upscale muggle eatery than a wizarding one, and his wand is tucked in a strap around his calf. He pauses in the middle of the shop and tilts his head, not sure if he wants to call for her just yet. Instead he slowly begins to look about the shelves.

A wave of her hand dismissed his apology, "Oh, it's all right, Marcus." Susan couldn't tell if he was saying upon instinct or if he really meant it and she didn't really want to know the answer. The past seven years were hard without her aunt around. She was always so close with her aunt, she was like a second mother, kind and wise and compassionate. She would how to deal with all these feelings and confusing emotions.

Susan blushed slightly as Marcus ordered for them both, that was something she was not used to. Something about that made her feel formal and safe, like she could trust Marcus to make decisions for her. Fingers, almost subconsciously reached for the necklace around her neck and slowly traced over the center emerald.

At the question about her father, Susan blushed more profusely and looked down at the napkin in her lap. "I, well," She cleared her throat and shook her head, "He's not very happy with me at the moment." Shrugging slightly, Susan looked back up at Marcus. "Between announcing an engagement and then calling it off, he thinks I'm being indecisive and inconsistent. Whatever that means. I think he's just upset that he doesn't have grandchildren." Rolling her eyes slightly, Susan shook her head.

"What about your parents? You mentioned your mother, what about your father?" Susan didn't mean to pry, she was genuinely interested in everything about Marcus Flint. After all, she was so hasty to make assumptions about him before, she wanted to know what else she thought about him in Hogwarts was wrong.

He makes a face and almost smirks at the very thought of his father. What could be said about him that was remotely positive?

"Well.. he's the reason I'm where I am right now. He pushed me to be the best, pushed me to make the choices I made good and bad. He's a manager for the Falcons, actually, and not... a very nice man. You'd never want to meet him, even on a good day, trust me," he scratched at his chin a moment.

"I mean, I guess I had a choice but it was just easier to go with the flow, or.. fuck, whatever. You're lucky, even if you're father is mad at you he's probably a good bloke. Would probably hex someone like me for taking someone like you out."

"Your father sounds like a..." Voice trailed off as she wasn't quite sure what to call him. "Like a... rather terrifying sort." The second half of that comment was muttered quickly, and instantly followed by a sip of her water. In comparison to her father, Marcus' father seemed like something nightmares were made of.

A bright smile curled on her lips at the mention of what her father might do to Marcus, Susan bit down on her bottom lip to suppress a giggle. "I don't think you have anything to worry about, Marcus, father is painfully near-sighted, unless you plan on standing three inches from his nose, I think you could get a good running start." Tilting her head to the side, dark green eyes lifted to look at him.

"Of course, you might have to contend with the likes of Ernie, he didn't seem too pleased to find out that I had tea at some mysterious bloke's home three weeks ago." Susan said more passively than she meant to. It was better to get Marcus ready now for whatever drama might come along than to actually start a relationship and then be introduced to her petty things. Of course, Susan couldn't even fathom dating Marcus Flint, she barely knew if he actually had those sort of feelings for her. The gift on her ears and around her neck might say otherwise, but Susan could never be quite sure. Once again, at the thought of the necklace, fingers lifted to trace along the center emerald.

He heard it though and couldn't help but grin at the comment. The truth was just that, wasn't it? He took a sip of his wine and then leaned forward a hand coming to rest near the middle of the table as if he had hoped her hand was there as well.

"Ernie is jealous of me?" he asked suddenly, interest piqued. Now he couldn't hide the grin even if he wanted. Cheeky thing, too, as he arched an eyebrow and made an almost silly attempt at a 'sexy' expression. "Is he scared that I'm charming the robes right off of you?"

He didn't lean back, but rather, inched his hand forward and tilted his head somewhat. His voice lowered the smallest bit and his expression was suddenly very serious.

"Is it working though? Am I courting you proper? I want it to be proper, I don't usually do it this way, but I want it this way."

"To be honest, I think he might be. Not jealous of you specifically since I didn't tell him who I had tea with, but I think he might be jealous." Susan found herself moving a little closer as well as her hand was drawn towards the center of the table. The expression had her blushing as she looked down at their hands, as her fingers slowly traced over his fingers, "I'm not quite sure what he's scared of, though, I would imagine that would be one of his fears."

As Marcus lowered his voice, Susan found herself leaning a little closer, until she leaning against the table. Lips curled into a coy smirk as she felt like her heart was going to pound out of her chest once more, "I think you are," Green eyes flickered to look back up at him, her hand finally resting in his grasp. "If I didn't know any better, I would say you have done this before."

Tilting her head to the side, Susan could see easily why women so easily fell under his spell. He was incredibly charming, and not that bad to look at, but underneath all those superficial traits, Susan could sense something else. Something that told her he was actually trying to be a better person. There was a sincere honesty about him that made her want to know him better.

"Oh, so he has no idea who this mystery wizard is, then? Hmm.." and try as he might, he couldn't hide how terribly delighted it made him to be able to hold her hand. She said perhaps, if she didn't know better, that he had done this before and honestly it was only a half-truth.

He shrugged slightly, pad of his thumb rolling over her knuckles slowly.

"Mmm.. yes and no. I've charmed women before, I've never done it so slowly. I've never courted before," which was he decided he was doing, whether Ernie liked it or not.

He could've sat there and held her dainty hand in his own for ages had their food not arrived moments later. Reluctantly he let go of the small fingers he had curled his digits around and went about eating slowly, eyes watching her as he did.

Marcus did enjoy the meal greatly, and made sure to mention it several times. The rest of the date went flawlessly, in his opinion. The meal was excellent, even though it was muggle all the way, and her company left him in such high spirits by the end of the night that he was grinning like a fool when he dropped her off at the apothecary again.

He had almost, almost leant in to kiss her proper but something kept him from doing it. Instead, he had ended up letting his lips plant a soft kiss on her cheek instead and left it at that. How that satisfied him was beyond explanation, but over all.. the birthday date was insanely good. He would have to get a reading from Stephen as soon as possible to determine if he was going about things right.

It certainly felt right.

[Hope you don't mind me fading it there, I didn't want to keep you waiting for posts and figured it was a good place to fade it since I didn't want to him to do anything too insane just yet. Lemme know if you want to change this though, cos I can. <33 ]
