Who: Oriel Summerby and Maisie Cattermole.
When: September 8th. Suppertime.
Where: Maisie's ---> Restaurant.
What: Supper and catching up!
Rating: Low.
Status: Complete/Closed.

Oriel always liked spending time with friends, and he seemed to be doing a lot of it lately, which made him a happy little thing. First running into Ellie - and then Alfie, who wasn't exactly a close friend or anything, but still a nice blike - and then seeing Rose last night. And now Maisie! And soon he would be hanging out with Natalie, so all was very good.

He headed over to Maisie's just a bit before suppertime. Dressed in a pair of skinny gray jeans, and a blue shirt with a blue thin jacket over top (all thrift store finds), he smiled at the thought of a nice supper out. At a place that had good vegetarian pizza, apparently, and that sounded perfect to him.

When he reached the flat he knocked and waited for Maisie to open the door. When she did, he greeted her with a bright smile. "Hi Maisie," he said, signing as he spoke, fingers forming the sign they had made for her name, and then he stepped forward to give her a hug.

Oriel's face lit up as it always did when he started talkiong about the animals he wrote about. "The long-eared Jerboa," he said, signing as he spoke, finger spelling the name since there wasn't a sign for 'Jerboa' (not yet!) and even if there was, who would know it?

"It's a rodent, with these huge ears and long legs for jumping. They're really quite odd looking. In a cute way." When Oriel wrote about non-magical creatures, he tended to write about ones that were either endangered or relatively unheard of - or in some cases, both!

"Why stressful?" he asked as they turned a corner.

While Maisie didn't know all the animals that were out there, she rather liked nature and all of it's creatures. So, she listened and watched intently, tilting her head slightly in interest.

"That sounds cute. I can't wait to read it," she commented with a smile, signing along. And that was the truth. She would enjoy the article for what it was about as well as for who wrote it.

She sighed softly at his question, ruffling her hair a bit with one of her hands as she often did when she was trying to figure out how to phrase something, "The usual, I guess...getting chased by vicious things, working late, dealing with reports and Obliviators, and all sorts of other things. It all just adds up," she told him, her speaking measured, because she was saying so much.

"We're almost there," she said, pointing up ahead to a little restaurant that had a few tables situated out front, and colorful shaded umbrellas over them.

"They are really cute." Of course Oriel also thought things like Narwhals were cute, so maybe he was a little biased. He liked animals in general!

He fell into silence (not difficult for him!) and watched Maisie's face and her hands as she explained why she had been stressed. His head bobbed a little, in a nod of understanding. "That would be stressful," he agreed. "But also interesting." Her job did sound rather fascinating, if a bit scary at times!

He glanced ahead to the restaurant as they approached. "Should we sit outside?" he asked and signed.

Maisie gave a slight shrug at the mention of her job. She found it interesting, and she really did love it. Sometimes she just spent too much time around it. Of course, she had no one to blame for that but herself.

"It's pretty out today, so it would probably be nice," she acquiesced, heading towards one of the empty tables once they got close enough. She took up a seat and grinned at her friend from across the table.

It didn't take but a few moments for someone to wander over to their table to take their drink orders, "Just water for me," Maisie told them, glancing back over at Oriel.

"I think so too," Oriel said, in agreement with that. It was a nice day out - and with chilly days on the horizen, they had to take advantage of the nice days while they could.

He slipped into the other seat, and took one of the menus, unfolding it in front of him, glancing up as the waitress came. "Water as well, please," he said, sounding shy in the way that he did around strangers, with a sweetly polite smile.

Then his eyes dropped back to the menu, glancing up every so often just incase Maisie wanted to talk. "What are you going to get?" he asked after a few moments.

As she pondered over the menu, Maisie couldn't help but think that she needed more days like this. She needed days where she could just go out with one of her good friends and not worry about anything else. Of course, her life was more complicated than that...but it didn't mean that it always had to be.

She grinned at Oriel and made a pondering expression, "I think," she started, "That I'm going to get that veggie pizza I was telling you about. It really is quite spectacular. We could even split if you were thinking about getting it too," she offered.

Yes, while she wasn't a vegetarian, she did like some dishes that didn't contain meat. She just wasn't willing to give it up entirely. But she still tried to respect Oriel's choice, even if the restaurant they were sitting at had a killer Meat Lovers pizza too.

Oriel spotted a number of things on the menu that caught his eye. The place had several vegetarian options, which was nice - places were more and more putting such fare on their menu as more people became health concious. Of course, for Oriel it was a mixture of health consciousness and not wanting to eat poor animals.

He looked at her over the menu and smiled, and nodded his head in agreement. "That sounds good. Let's split that," he agreed and he folded his menu and set it down before him, decision made. He liked pizza - well, who didn't? And it was a great thing to share.

The waitress came by again, with their drinks, and Oriel murmured a word of thanks, letting Maisie order the pizza.

Giving the order to the waitress, Maisie let her slide away without complaint and leaned a bit towards her friend there at the table, deciding on something to talk about and then just letting the words flow, using her hands as an aide.

There was a great deal of catching up for them to do, and she didn't plan to waste a single moment. There was laughter and soft chatter, and once their food arrived, there was a great deal of stuffing their faces as well. But that's what friends did. They relaxed in each others company and had a splendid time.

And it really was...it was the best time she'd had in a while. She rather figured that she should spend some more time with Oriel and her other friends as well. This was just the reminder that she needed that there really was more to life than her job. She knew that there would be more fantastic times to come.
