WHO: Blaise Zabini and Daphne Greengrass Vaisey
WHERE: Zabini Mansion
WHEN: Around lunch time, after their exchange
WHAT: Blaise makes Daphne choose.
RATING: Unsure. I'll change it when need be.

Unable to sleep through the entire night, Blaise couldn't cease his thoughts about Daphne. He had spoken to her in a way that he had never done throughout the years. Did he mean any horrible sentence that he wrote? No, never. Not in a million years. They were written down hastily in an angry manner without a second thought or glance. Blaise had wished he had done just that though. However, all intense anger would have been subsided if she had simply thought of him once throughout her marriage. The ginger had suggested a vacation at the wrong time. Of course, he didn't know if Nikolas was the one that came up with the stupid idea of venturing within Barcelona, but it was better to blame the other guy then her. It made things slightly better. Blaise understood that things had no chance of reverting to the time that he could spend any free moment that his heart desired with Daphne. That simply couldn't be any longer. He couldn't pick and choose the times that they met with each other anymore. It was all up to her, but the dull ache within his body each time his best friend decided to spend time with one that was never deserving in the first place.

A part of him wished with all of his might that he could have revealed the true feelings that he hid long before their vacation in Greece a few years ago. However, it wasn't in him to admit to anything o the sort. Blaise had always had feelings for the eldest Greengrass sibling, ever since he met her during his first year. The prospect of not wanting to hurt her through his escapades had held him back all those years. It probably didn't help that the moment that he let three little words escape from his lips had been a point of their lives that they couldn't turn their heads and forget all that forced upon them, more so Daphne than himself. He had his chance and blew it.

As for the game went, he had hardly noticed more than a handful of glances between the couple. After all, Blaise had a game to place a win under his belt. No matter how angry he had found himself in a matter of seconds after the first glance, he somehow pushed that aside and placed all his focus upon the game. Sure, that particular game had changed his views somewhat on the fairer sex on the same team as himself. He had remembered his negative, nasty thoughts back within Hogwarts when the Ginger had placed Bulstrode in the starting game. That event wasn't enough to change his thoughts on the subject, but he couldn't help himself but become honestly impressed the way that Angelina had played the game before being taken out by an injury.

Blaise shaked all unnessary thoughts from his mind, wanting to focus on the reason behind Daphne making an appearence within his mansion that afternoon. No matter how things went, badly or smoothly, he had promised himself that he would at least apologize for the negative comments that he made within his journal towards her. Since they publically couldn't be together, she couldn't exactly become his "baggage". Over night admittance to that single subject would be insane. He knew that much, but the thought of Daphne even performing sexual acts of any nature, including shagging, had already broken his heart more than he could bare. That feeling had overwhelmed him was merely because of the fact that he loved her. Yes, Blaise Zabini loved a woman honestly. Most of his efforts were flirting and nothing more, especially with a few scattered and former slytherin and ravenclaws throughout the years. Did he speak such words towards another? Of course not, however, he was fairly certain that Pansy could come up with that conclusion all on her own rather easily.

With himself sitting comfortably upon the couch, Blaise had heard a knock at the door that echoed throughout his mansion. He didn't have to wonder on the person's idenity in the slightest either. Knowing that it was Daphne, he turned his gaze to a house elf standing near him in the middle of cleaning the floors. "Do answer the door. Offer her something to drink as well," he spoke without moving from the current position. Blaise did remark that he would keep distance between himself and best friend. She could choose on how close they should be after their spat. "Well, what are you waiting for? Answer the door already."

Blaise had a small speech planned out within his mind, rehearsing it over and over again within his mind. How did one honestly go by asking their best friend to choose between himself and an arrange marriage? Didn't help that it seemed that Daphne was truthfully starting to seem as though she enjoyed her marriage, which only became apparent to him as she was conviently out of town during the very first cup game for England. Possibly the only thing that would help in that hour of need was taking a page out of his mother's book. That would get rid of the real problem.

Daphne heard her name come from his lips and it sounded so foreign. She was so used to being called an endearing pet name that when he didn't she knew something was wrong. Biting on her bottom lip, she looked away from him for a moment. It was just a moment, to collect her thoughts that scattered each time she attempted to speak to him. Nodding just slightly, she moved to the chair that he motioned to. "Thank you," She said quietly, as she took a seat. In a house that was knew like the back of her hand, a home that she grew up in, she felt like a complete and utter strange. She hated this house for what it has done to her friendship, and she hated where she was in her life. Running her fingers through her hair, she stared at the wall opposite her, just beyond Blaise.

Love.

Merlin, if Daphne could ever understand, she would likely just imagine herself with Blaise. Love was a foreign emotion to the girl, she hated what it made people do and she hated how hurt typically followed being in love. Just like now. She loved Blaise, she knew that, but she didn't want to hurt him... yet, it seemed not loving him hurt him just as much. She knew Blaise was more than just some call boy for her every whim and fancy. She knew that Blaise deserved better than what she was giving him. She knew that what she was doing was only hurting him and her in the long run. Yet, something inside of her couldn't stop. It was that horrid four letter word that prevented her from giving him up, that stopped her from calling off their relationship. Selfish, yes, but Daphne didn't want to.... stop. She wanted him there always for her, she wanted him to be her best friend and her lover. To hold her and tell her that she was the most beautiful creature to ever walk the planet. That no one in the world could compare to her and that nothing would ever change his feelings for her. She wanted things to be less complicated.

It made Daphne furious with herself that no matter what she tried to do, someone was going to get hurt. She knew in the back of her mind what was needed to be done, this relationship with Blaise - this secretive love affair couldn't go on the way it was. Not with so much resting on both of their shoulders.

As she sat there the words he wrote to her last night echoed in her mind just reminding her how hurt she felt. Swallowing slightly, she stared down at her hands as that feeling like she wanted to vomit was slowly returning. Suddenly, she regretted ever coming. Forcing him to hate her sounded so much better than trying to patch up their friendship. Your mother was in the right for arranging a marriage for you just echoed there in her head, persistent and brutally honest. It hurt her more because she knew it was true, Daphne was and never would have been marriage material if it wasn't for her mother. The fact that Blaise reiterated that after so many years of it being drilled into her mind hurt. It hurt that Blaise called her baggage, called whatever they had baggage and that he would be so much happier without it.

Pushing back that urge to cry once more, she finally turned her attention to Blaise, doing what her mother taught her and pushing back all her emotion. Pulling on a completely neutral face and staring directly at him with a cold blank stare. There wasn't love in her gaze, it was an icy wall that Daphne put up in her most vulnerable states. It was devoid of typical warmth that she gave to Blaise and held a withdrawn, cold flicker in it. It wasn't a look that she usually gave him, but at this point, she was preparing herself for any hurt that might come along with his words. He all ready made her cry once last night, Daphne figured it was a matter of time before his hurtful, brutally honest words would spout forth once more. She needed to prepare herself, she needed to push him back arms length and throw up that defensive wall to shield herself.

"How was practice this morning?" Small talk, it was only an attempt to keep the silence from trickling between them. At this point, small talk was the only thing that Daphne could push her thoughts to. It was the only thing keeping her from breaking down.

Letting a breath of air out, Blaise could feel the tension surrounding the room and embedding it's unwanted rear between them. He disliked the times that they ended up being distant. All he wanted to do at that moment was scoop Daphne up into his arms and snog her brains out. Actions did speak louder than words, right? The image of him pressing a kiss to her lips seemed quite far away at that point. It honestly didn't even seem as though they would shake hands in the next thirty minutes. Body contact wasn't on either of their minds at the moment, but it would ease the tension to just let that expression course through their bodies. Why couldn't things be easier between the two? Nikolas was the source of their problems. Wasn't it obvious to the both of them? However, that wasn't the case. She allowed herself to become comsumed in the married life. It was a very likly chance that the ginger and her had already shared a kiss or a couple. The thought of that honestly dishearted him greatly. He knew that it would eventually lead to that point, but it felt so soon, despite it being four years already. A little voice in his head always spoke of never returning a kiss to the beautiful creature if those lips touched her husband. However, the time had possibly arrived and he couldn't bare to bring himself to end anything that their relationship consisted of.

Blaise knew that the statements of Daphne belonging to him alone had to be purged from his mind. He knew the time would eventually arrived, but that was easier said than done. The thought of turning his back the slighest on their love was never an opition. It was only hope that was exactly what she was thinking as well. Negative words were thrown every which way, more so than they had ever remarked to one another since they had known each other. He still knew that it all could be fixed. It simply had to be. The right words needed to flow from his lips, even though the request that he planned on revealing soon might set his best from off the edge.

With all honesty, Blaise knew that his words were harsh the previous evening. He had written such words at the height of his anger. Did he mean them? Never. Was those feelings lingering within him all of those years? The answer would be no once again. He wished that Daphne's parents chose him to be the suitor for their daughter, which always confused him the reason behind their denial. After all, there had been no one else to come close to caring as much as he did for the eldest Greengrass sibling. He also took care of her and showered her with gifts every single week, twice sometimes depending on the occasion before them. Of course, he wasn't entirely sure how he would react to that news being thrusted upon him. Awkward for a little while most likely, but it would have made him reveal hidden feelings long before their trip to Greece.

There was one thing that he was certain about though. No way would anyone love Daphne more than him. Anyone would remark that there was something that they disliked about the woman, but not Blaise. He enjoyed and took pleasure in every bit of her.

"Practice was decent. We're all a rather good team together," he replied to her attempt at small talk. Blaise wasn't ready to admitt his new found feelings of enjoyment of being on a team with a couple of women, especially Angelina. That wouldn't tide over well with Daphne in some shape or form. Slowly sitting back down upon the couch, he left the one side of the furniture empty, unsure if the beautiful creature wanted him near her. Oh, how he wished that he could be more closer and forget about all their problems, but that was easy. Rubbing his hands together, before placing his hands firmly upon his thighs, Blaise looked directly at his best friend, quite for a few seconds. "I didn't mean what I wrote in my journal, Daphne. I assure you I didn't and that it wasn't written purposely either. You know that I wouldn't wound you purposely. I was just angry," he spoke, feeling as though it was almost completely at random. There she was trying to make small talk and Blaise wanted to jump into the bulk of things.

Well, it would make them both feel better sooner, right?

Daphne was quiet for the longest time, she didn't want to be here and she regretted it as each second ticked by. Green stare studied Blaise, the way he got comfortable in the seat made her envious. Why was she so stupid to come here? They should have met on more neutral ground. Remaining on the edge of her seat, her back was perfectly straight, like her back was stuck to a piece of plywood. Ankles were crossed demurely, and tucked just slightly under her seat. Hands rested on her lap, and a complete blank look washed upon her. There was no emotion in her stare, it was cold and distant as she put up that wall to keep Blaise out. It was a wall that Blaise was most likely not familiar with personally. Sure, Daphne tossed that wall up against other people, but Blaise was the one male in her life who didn't have to suffer through her icy shoulder like the others.

As he began to turn the conversation towards the real reason why she was here, Daphne put up a hand to stop him, "Don't give me that load of bollocks, Blaise." There was definite venom in her voice as she cut him off. "If you didn't mean it, you wouldn't have written it in the first place. Whether it was intentional or not, it was the truth. I do burden you, and mother was right to arrange a marriage for me." Swallowing heavily, Daphne rose from her seat and moved towards the window. A bout of anxiety washed over her as her heels echoed against the floor, filled the void of silence with slow pacing steps.

One arm crossed over her abdomen as her hand lifted to run over a gleaming diamond encrusted necklace to match the large ring on her left ring finger. Both pieces of jewelry caught the afternoon sun as it began to filter into the room. Keeping her back to Blaise, she sighed heavily and shook her head, green eyes watching the world outside. "We both knew this day would come..." She said quietly - more to herself than to Blaise. Toying with the necklace between her fingers, she felt silent once more.

Daphne was getting more confused as she stood there. Nothing was making sense and Daphne hated this feeling of confusion. She thought the moment she married Nikolas everything would become a lot simpler. An arranged marriage was supposed to bring peace and order, wasn't it? However not one day since she's been married has she felt peace and order. All she felt was more chaos. Marrying Nikolas wasn't easy on anyone, Daphne didn't know the first thing about being a wife, Merlin, she didn't know the first thing about being a girlfriend. She was thrust into this situation blindly and with feelings for another man. Daphne wasn't willing to become intimate with Nikolas and they had a silent agreement that they would see other people.

Daphne - like always - turned to Blaise, her best friend in the whole entire world. In a way, Daphne viewed her relationship with Blaise a lot like how it was back in Hogwarts. Fours years of being married, Daphne never would have predicted to actually enjoy married life. It was exactly what she wanted, a quiet life in the country without having to worry about school work or a job for that matter - the only thing missing was the husband that she dreamed of. Not that Nikolas was a bad person to be married to, he just wasn't who Daphne dreamed of marrying. Daphne never predicted that she would actually start to develop feelings for her husband - a man whom she had no interest in before marriage. Daphne didn't know this was going to happen, but she knew what Blaise's reaction was going to be. She knew that he wasn't going to take her situation with Nikolas lightly, and she knew this day was coming.

Blaise had to blink a few times to make sure that his vision was still clear. The look upon Daphne's face was one that he wasn't entirely used to. In fact, he had never seen it directed and placed upon him. There were plenty of times that that icey stare was directed towards others around them, but never him. He knew that the words must have wounded her deeply, but he had never expected or predicted it would be that great. If it wasn't plain as the look upon his own face that he hadn't meant to hurt her, then it was likely that he would have to show her. It was possibly the only way, especially since he rarely showed a great deal of expressions. However, it pained him to know that she didn't see the emotion within him. After all the years that they've known each other, he thought it would have been much clearer now, unless that Ginger had done something to make everything different.

The idea of following out of his mum's book had started to look quite good as the seconds had ticked forward. Or possibly a time turner, especially since he didn't listen to the nagging voice in the back of his mind to not write the journal entry picked at him.

As Daphne's hand came up to cease is small speech, he couldn't help but pull his head back slightly to replace his gaze with a confused one. Eyebrows furred together, unsure how to take such behavior pointed towards him. If it was anyone else, Blaise might have hexed the other, but this was his best friend. Things never became that bad between them. Silence over came him as ears remained attentive to her words, he was almost flabbergasted with the way that she acted in front of him. He allowed his eyes to watch the figure walk towards the window, before even standing up himself. The words seemed to roll off easily from Daphne's lips as though she knew how everything worked. That she knew what was on his mind or what was in his heart. Sure, she knew that he loved her, even the words never exited her own form. They both knew that one feeling within the both of them.

"Bollocks? Bollacks. That's all you can say to my words. I do not apologize to just anyone, Daphne. That you should know," he replied, facing the woman within his home. The venom seeped through her lips and stabbed him directly upon his chest. It wasn't what he was used to and with his slight change in behavior made it a bit obvious. He had the right to be angry at his best friend, even though he spoke of things that he didn't mean in everyway possible. At that moment, he was surely responded in nothing but the truth. "You do not burden me. I rather give all my galleons away than not have you in my life. It kills me everyday you were forced into a marriage to a pathetic excuse for a wizard. I'm not allowed to be angry though? Because that's what you're making your tone of voice cound." A hand moved in front of him as he talked unconsiously. Blame the Italian side of his blood.

Was Blaise in the wrong to be furious with Daphne the previous night? No. He knew that much. Lately, he had become the last person that she wanted to satisfy, not counting any sort of private time that might have been tossed completely out of the window for the future. It seemed as though Daphne didn't respect him, especially since she had brought Nikolas to the game without thinking. If she respected Blaise, Astoria would have sat next to her on that very day. He did have some form of dignity left. Did she honestly expect not to be scolded for her choice.

"What day?" he asked again, pushing away any other subject that might sprout from their lips. Blaise wasn't sure what Daphne was getting to continuing her short speech. The tension between them was hard to ignore, as much as he wanted it to disappear completely, but he knew that situations don't seemingly do that at whim. Sadly, of course. Eyes glanced upon the ground, tracing the design on the carpet, almost like he hadn't seen it in years, before taking a few steps closer towards the woman. He slipped his hands into his pockets , so she would knew that he didn't plan on touching any part of her, as much as he wanted to wrap his arms around her body to simply hold her close.

A part of him braced himself for what he had wanted to turn the conversation into. He knew the answer, especially since Daphne only did things these days to please her parents. She couldn't be her own person. Other forces had to make decisions for the beautiful creature before him. Just once, he wished that she "The day that you would have to choose? The ginger or me," a slight pause came after those words, pursing his lips together and eyes traced along her backside. "Because that's what I'm asking you to do, love." Adding the pet name at the end, hoping that would make the request go better slightly.

"I'm honored that you apologized," She replied rather bitterly as she shook her head. Fingers toyed a bit more nervously around that necklace as she fell silent. Daphne was in shock that this was happening, how could she be so naive to think that she could keep up this life? As he mentioned being married to Nikolas, gaze looked down at the large ring on her finger. Her own anger was rising as he tried to pin this on her, try to blame her for not marrying him. Daphne didn't want to marry Nikolas, she didn't want to be forced to do something that her parents wanted. She hated what her life had become, but was it so wrong to find those tiny moments of happiness? To try and be tolerable of Nikolas and try to embrace the idea of being married. Thumb dragged over the large stone on her finger as she bit down on her bottom lip and attempted to blink back her tears.

"You think I wanted it this way? It didn't have to be this way, Blaise." She hissed through clenched teeth as she stared vehemently outside. The beautiful country side was a blur in her gaze as she could only feel and see the anger rising in her. "You had your chance, you didn't take it, and this is what has happened. I'm married to someone else, and all you want me to be is miserable with him." The tears were threatening to spill down her cheeks as she finally turned to face him, "I didn't want this just as much as you didn't, if not more. You're not the one that is now bound to another name. You're not the one that is bound to certain duties as a wife and a daughter." Her voice was rising in tone as she attempted to swallow tears that were pooling in those stormy blue-green eyes.

Daphne was always upset that Blaise never made his move sooner. She knew that even Astoria was a little disappointed that he didn't marry Daphne. She knew that if her mother knew exactly how close she was with Blaise, she would have shoved down her distaste for him and tolerated him a little more. She knew that her mother arranged that marriage assuming that Daphne had no chance with anyone on her own. Her mother didn't know how close she was with Blaise before the arrangement was made. Daphne was still upset that it took him so long to say those three words. That night in Greece only made her more upset to think about, because she knew no matter how much she loved him, and how much he loved her they couldn't be together. It was too late for a proper relationship between them.

She wanted to say more and her mouth was opened to speak, but what Blaise said silenced her. Staring at him in awe, her mind began to race. She wasn't prepared, she didn't know what to say. Instead, she stood stock still, her stare blank and that wall that she was attempting to throw up around her slowly crumbling once more. "Don't..." She finally managed to mutter, fingers twitching slightly as she took a step back from him. "Don't..." She repeated and shook her head, tears finally breaking loose and rolling down her cheeks, streaking her skin with kohl.

"Don't do this." She pleaded, with him. "Don't make me choose."

Blaise had only apologized meaningfully to one person. On a mere fact of coincidence, that person was the only one within the room. Daphne had been the only one to hear a true one in his entire life, which had been back during their time in Hogwarts. This was only the second time. Other acquaintances hadn't heard an utter of anything of the sort. Anyone write down a unworthy sorry within their journals. It didn't mean anything unless the two were face to face. To him, it felt as though she tossed the apology back into his face. It was only in the tone of her voice that he gathered up that much. "Seeing that I don't apologize much for my actions, especially in a meaningful tone, you should understand and know that it's the truth," he replied, pursing his lips together and taking in a breath once again. The tension was greater than he had expected. As a little more grew between them, it was noticeable that the vien in his neck was throbbing. It wasn't out if irritation or a heightened feeling. No. It was because he had wanted to forget everything that happened and those who were responsiable for the best friends acting of the sort with each other.

As the conversation turned into what could have happened in the past, Blaise gritted his teeth slightly. He knew that he could have spoken about his heigthened attraction to his best friend long ago. In fact, it had been years since the spark first ignited into his chest. Did he honestly think that if he had spoken about what he had wanted years ago when he so called had a chance. "Really?" he asked, shaking his head seconds later. "Of course, if I spoke of having feelings for you since second year, everything would be completely different and we'd be in a situation that we would both be happy?" a slight pause came over him, keeping his eyes glued at Daphne's expression. He tried to peice together an image where it seemed as though things would work out. A sincerio, but it didn't seem possible. "You would have pushed yourself away from me just like each time we got close. You know you would. I know you would. Plus, I never hid that I enjoyed you as a whole."

Blaise remembered the times within Hogwarts that they found each other close, either snogging or shagging on any surface, moments later Daphne would find away to push him away. An arm's length was where he stayed for a short while, until they were in dire need of feeling that personal feeling. The right personal feeling that hit the spot. Just thinking about such actions made him yearn for her, allowing his eyes to trail down slightly to her lips. How he wished that he could press his lips upon her own in a way to make everything a million times better. However, that wasn't a choice. She would slap him across the face quicker than he would be able to utter the word quidditch. "Don't you think I thought about telling you? I never wanted to hurt you. Plus, you only have certain duties to uphold to because you honestly have a family. Mine have been quite dead," he added and shook his head slowly.

As the request slipped foward from his lips, he almost regretted even uttering the words. The ears streaming down Daphne's cheeks already made his heartache. If there was anyone that he never wanted to hurt, not even the slightest, it would be the woman before him. Everything seemed to happen at once. All the subjects seemed to attack them together by asking her choose. Just as she took a step backwards away from him, Blaise retailated with a step closer, wanting to wipe the tears that stained her beautiful face. "Love, I do have my dignity. We both know that I'm the other man. You can't blame me for wanting you all to myself," he replied, allowing himself to pause betwen his words again. Was it selfish for him to ask the sort from her? Of course, however, it was no where near as selfish she was being. "There's no way that Nikolas will ever love you the way I do. As much as I do. As long as I have." He couldn't believe that the tone of voice was a pleding one, which went along with her tone as well.

Daphne knew that Blaise wasn't the most apologetic of blokes. Merlin, that was one of the reasons why she was so attracted to him. In her eyes it made him see confident and not indecisive. Once he said or did something he had no regrets about it.... unless of course it was out of impulse and it hurt Daphne. "I never questioned your honest," She said through clenched teeth as his continued to justify himself. Gaze lifted slowly to look at Blaise, moreso at the vein throbbing in his neck. The sure indicator that Blaise was frustrated, or upset, or annoyed, or feeling some sort of emotion that didn't go along with typical cool demenor. It was usually around this time that Daphne would reach out and touch him to make the throbbing in his neck stop, but this time she kept her hands to herself, balled tightly into fists to keep herself focused on the topic at hand.

When he started mentioning how she would push him away, she could feel that knot in her chest tighten even more. Gritting her own teeth, she turned away from him to face the window. Cheeks a bright crimson and streaked with tears and eyeliner, she stared at the grass on the grounds. She didn't say anything to him for a long moment, just allowed him to talk. What more could she say? At Hogwarts she always pushed him away, and she didn't have a reason but only because she was scared. She was scared to feel so strongly for another person, and she was scared to hurt him, or even more terrified to get hurt herself. She knew how Blaise was, she saw how he treated other girls, and while Daphne never saw him treat her like that, something in her mind told her that he COULD treat her like that if he wanted to. She kept the world at arms length to prevent herself from being hurt, and while she initially tried to keep Blaise at arms length, she constantly found herself battling inwardly to pull him close.

When he used a pet-name, her head turned just slightly, tuning her ears to him completely. Running her fingers over her cheeks, she attempted to wipe away the tears only to streak her cheeks even more. Her nose was beginning to turn that typical Greengrass pink as she found herself unable to stop the tears. It was the pleading tone that made her turn to face him once more, glassy blue-green eyes peering over at him. Swallowing slightly, she shook her head, "Blaise, don't make me do this..."

Glancing past him, towards the opposite wall, Daphne attempted to pull her thoughts together. What could she say? "I can't choose, I can't... I..." Her voice trailed off as she took a step back and felt her back pressing against the glass of the window, the cool surface sharp against her warm body. The jolt of coolness roused a bout of confidence as she returned her gaze back to him.

"Blaise, I..." She began to fumble for the words once more as she studied him. What was she so scared about? She's lost everything in the past. She bound herself to this life, lost her freedom and her future. She gained a husband, but at what expense? She was now losing the one person she felt she could ever love. Tears once more began to spill from her eyes as the realization hit her that she had nothing to lose at this point. "I love you, Blaise, I always have, I always will... but I can't choose." She began to sob, as her voice was cracking with emotion. "Don't make me choose, because I don't want to hurt you." There it was, those three simple words, eight letters long. It was something she never thought she would be able to say to anyone, even while she was spending a year with Blaise in Greece and he admitted how he felt for her, Daphne couldn't pull herself to tell him.

Now it was said, now it was done and all she wanted to do was curl up in a ball, because she knew that her feelings were pointless. It would never matter because in the end Blaise couldn't have her to himself.

"I know," he replied simply, keeping his gaze upon the beautiful woman before him. The longer that they conversed about the subject, it seemed the more angry that Daphne became. If she expected them to go about their lives without having a random talk about the problems before them, including the most nessesary one at times, then it was quite foolish. Blaise was indeed selfish. Maybe had learned to be so throughout the years with his best friend. He wasn't exactly sure. It was obvious that she was every other time when she wanted things to go her way, but Blaise never made any notion of the such. He respected her far too much to bring out any flaws that might shine their way though. If once asked about such flaws, he would easy say that Daphne didn't have one within her perfect mind, within or out. However, he disliked their arguements. Oh, how he hated them so. Half way through them, he always wanted to forget about them all together and return to normal. It almost didn't seem an option for them to do just that though.

Blaise had wanted to see what would occur between them if only he had taken the step within Hogwarts of how they would be as a couple. Of course, no matter who came around for a few days or so, he had always returned to Daphne merely because within his eyes, she was indeed the perfect woman. It made him jealous from the very moment the arranged marriage had been brought up for the first time. Oh, how he was disappointed and wounded to know that her parents hadn't chosen him to take her hand. It disgusted him that it had to be the ginger-haired Vaisey whom was no where near deserving to be around a beautiful creature such as Daphne. The what ifs had always floated through his mind day after day, and they always seemed to end up the same where he had been in the present time. Somehow and someway, Blaise knew that Daphne would never be only his. It was written in stone elsewhere that he was set to admire her from afar for most of the time and come together once in a while. It had always been such a way with his best friend. The fates deemed it so as well.

It was obvious by his request that it had stirred up some negative emotion. Blaise didn't ask her to choose to make tears roll down her cheeks. He never wanted to be the cause of the sadness within her life. Never. However, he thought he was in the right to ask such a bold question. Others waited their entire lives for their significant other to leave a married one, of those who were in the same position as himself, but it never quite turned out the way that they hoped. Blaise knew that it wasn't Daphne's choice to stay with Nikolas. In fact, he wasn't even sure how close they were with each other. Four years, there had to be some feeling witihn the relationship by now, especially since he never raised a hand towards her. If Nikolas did though, Blaise would make sure that the ginger's life was plucked from his corpse. The same would have to go for Astoria's relationship with Draco. The Greengrass siblings meant the word to him. The only family he honestly had left, so no one would blame him for reacting or feeling such a way. But not being with Daphne and to have her for his own, honestly made him yearn for her even more then before. One truly never knew what they had until it was completely gone. Sure, Blaise could have risked it all and asked to become a unified couple years before in Hogwarts, but if it didn't turn out the way that he had wanted it to, there was a chance that Daphne would no longer be within his life. That was unacceptable, which was one of the reasons he never persuded it further. He never imaged it would hurt quite so much.

"Daphne, I'm not asking this to hurt you. I would never dream of wounding you on purpose. That I hope that you know from all these years," he began to reply to his best friend's words before she had a chance to finish. Words seemed to beg to burst forth from his lips, however, three little words caused him to fall silent. Of course, Blaise knew that she loved him. It was obvious with the way that they behaved with one another and where some of their time together ended in pleasure, but he never expected her those particular words towards him. It could have been seen as rash at the time, but he had spoken of his true affections towards the beautiful woman during their time in Greece. Blaise was a man that hadn't feared anything throughout the years, but he did care and wanted to shelter Daphne from any sort of pain, which is why he never mentioned where his heart lyed fully for her. "You love me?" he asked once again, eyes glued within her own as the tears streaked down her perfect cheeks.

Never one to back away from something that he had desired, Blaise had taken the steps closer to Daphne until they were close once again. In what seemed one quick movement, his hands were placed upon her cheeks and wiped away the stains of tears from his best friend cheeks. It wasn't too much longer that he pressed his own lips upon her own, feeling as though it had been years since their last action of the sort. As he started to pull her closer into the sweet kiss, he broke it slowly and left his lips lingering inches away from her own. "I don't want to lose you." If there was anything that Blaise feared, it was loosing the woman before him.
